Craig, the owner, was certain that he could repair it, so we set a time for me to bring it to his shop. He gave me clear directions and met me at my car to take the chair out and up to his shop. He carefully assessed how he would go about repairing it and said he would have it repaired by the following week. I was delighted when I picked it up yesterday, seeing that Craig not only expertly repaired the rung, he took the extra step of painting it, matching the red color perfectly. Craig is an expert in his field, having worked in furniture repair and refinishing for years. He clearly loves what he does and takes pride in his work. Artisan Interiors rebuilt the interior completely, eight-way hand-tied springs, the whole structure, and saved the original fabric his grandmother had chosen. All of it. They polished the wood while they had it. Two to three weeks, reasonable price, no drama. David runs the operation and was easy to talk to from the first conversation. Knowledgeable, straightforward, no overselling. It's a family business -- his father is the upholsterer -- and it shows in how they treat what you bring them. I didn't fully understand how damaged it was until I got it back. Now it feels the way it was supposed to feel. Solid. Sturdy. You can sit in it comfortably without holding your breath. First we meet in the office to go over colors and fabrics. David had incredible knowledge and great suggestions of what would fit with our space and accounted for our pets. The smaller the job, the more challenging it is to find such a person. Recently I had a small, solid cherry end table that two other so-called "wood workers" (who will go unnamed at this point) totally messed up. Originally, I was simply attempting to address a small scratch. I search for weeks trying to find someone who could correct their damage. I even went to a wood working school to get referrals - everyone was just too busy, could not help me. Finally, I lucked upon Action Furniture Repair in Roseville. I contacted Mike by phone at Action Furniture Repair who returned my call within 24 hours. He then gave me an estimate based on pictures I sent by email (within 8 hours). I then accepted his proposal, he came to my home and picked up the end table for repair. Nice gentleman, friendly yet professional. Mike made the repairs on time and within budget (the estimate). He then scheduled time with me to return my end table to my home. My wife and I are so pleased with the finished work. The outcome was just what we were hoping we would see.
