I called Chip's Tree service to get my property back into order last Fall. They did a good job, albeit for a lot more money than my previous guy, who moved away. The only other downside to Chip's was the manager, who came with the team and spent way too much time trying to upsell me on various aspects of my property. He was actually quite annoying, but the workers did a good job. This week I noticed a leak in my drip sprinkler system. The leak was underground, so I called Chip's. The tech came out three days later and said that he could repair it but that it would fail within a week. I asked if he was able to prevent that from happening and he said that, yes, he could fix it but it will leak again after a week and it would be a separate charge for another trip. I asked if he could fix the whole assembly and he said that Chip's doesn't really do maintenance, just sales. I told him that that wasn't a solution but he just shrugged, so I asked him to leave. He just laughed and drove away, charging me $150. I don't recommend Chip's Tree Service for anything more than an expensive tree trim. read more

My turf was installed at the end of February 2026, and what should have been an exciting backyard improvement has turned into an ongoing headache. Within a short time, I began experiencing problems with the turf lifting at the seams and edges and nails repeatedly popping completely out of the ground. There have been numerous attempts to address these issues. Initially, the solution was repeatedly to add more nails, sometimes in areas that already had nails. Eventually, another crew came out, pulled sections of the turf back, reworked the material underneath, and re-nailed it. Unfortunately, the same problems continued. During all of the frustrating conversations and attempts to get the problems resolved, I also discovered that Chips Tree & Landscape subcontracted the actual installation to another company. I was not aware when I hired Chips that a separate company would be performing the installation. Because I became concerned about the quality and specifications of the turf that was installed, I requested the exact product specifications for the turf listed on my contract. The documentation I received was a brochure from the subcontractor, but I noticed something very concerning: the name of the turf listed on my contract does not appear to be a product offered by that subcontractor. I searched the subcontractor's website and could not find that turf product listed anywhere. I don't know whether the product was discontinued, an older product, or something that was being sold as leftover inventory, but I believe this is a reasonable question that should have a clear answer. I cannot state that the wrong turf was installed because I don't have the documentation to prove that. However, the turf appears to be a lower-quality product than what I believed I was purchasing, and the repeated problems have certainly made me question both the product and the installation. The recent rain has made the situation even worse. The material underneath the turf is now extremely wet, loose and movable, almost like wet beach sand, and the nails continue to work their way out. I have documented nails approximately 3 inches long that have come completely out of the ground. More recently, a crew member showed me a nail that appeared to be approximately 4 1/2 inches long. That longer nail was not actually installed; it was left behind with only the tip positioned in the turf after the worker became frustrated and left to make a phone call. I have photographs documenting these issues. What is especially frustrating is that this turf is only a few months old and has already required multiple visits and repeated attempts to correct the same problems, yet the turf continues to lift and the nails continue to come out. I regret removing my natural grass and having artificial turf for this project. If you are considering Chips Tree & Landscape, I strongly recommend doing your own due diligence, getting the exact turf manufacturer/product specifications and installation requirements in writing, asking whether the work will be subcontracted, and keeping documentation of everything. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company for artificial turf installation. read more

I've had nails work their way up through the turf and become exposed simply from walking on it, which is both frustrating and a safety concern. I used Angie's list to find local flagstone patio installers and this company was on of 5 offered as good companies. After getting several quotes we went with Chips Tree Service and Landscaping as they were willing to guarantee an install in our 1 month timeframe and claimed great expertise. They demo'd our old patio within a few days of signing the contract and paying half up front. The job was quoted to us as "1 day, maybe 2". 28 days! later the job was finally finished, because they assigned 1 person to do the whole install. He was a great worker and skillful, but had a lot of no show days. All the workers were polite, cleaned up after the jobs were done, and did excellent work. The landscapers that came to do my yard will not friendly at all. I was told that they were going to come back and finish picking up the weeds. They never showed up. I live in an area that has a hoa and I paid 1500 dollars for them to do my yard and im still getting fined from my hoa. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Just had my gigantic Ficus tree (20 -30 feet tall) cut down this morning (sad but need to). Umberto and his crew came on time, walked around to figure out how they would cut the tree down and in less than an hour, everything was done. The tree was cut from the trunk from the first 15 min. 08.30.23 Yep, still bad. Barely a month has passed and we are already having weeds sprout up in five different places! So much for claims of using "top quality" materials. The weed barrier and weed killer that was sprayed clearly is of INFERIOR QUALITY. When I complained about it to the GM, she offered to have someone come back out, but if they couldn't do a decent job the first time, why should I believe their second visit would be any better?? I was also told after my last discussion w/ the GM that their standard pricing for a new irrigation install is $3200 - $4200. We should have gone with the other company who quoted us at $2100 -- and we most certainly will when our front yard irrigation needs replaced!! Chips is never coming near our house again. read more

This is the second time we have hired this company to take care of our trees and my second review. The first experience was about 8 months ago when we had our mature Palo Verde and Mesquite trees thinned out and fertilized. Chip did a beautiful job. This time was to save our largest Palo Verde that was recently damaged by the wind. The largest branch was downed along with several atttached feeders. We were afraid that the tree was doomed. But Anthony assured us that not only could it be saved, but made to grow and flourish better than before. We had to do some major remodeling that included thinning, shaping and removing about 1/3 of the tree top. We decided to do both of our trees so that they would be symmetrical when recovered. We are tree huggers and a leap of faith on our part to do such MAJOR work. The company showed up on time and the workers got to work immediately. There was a miscommunication that caused a little grief, but the company made everything right quickly. Read the other reviews. This is a five star company. read more

Avoid Chips Tree Service. On Jan 2, 2024 I paid Chips Tree Service 1350 to trim two chinese elm trees and one mesquite tree. The young elms were 18 inches around at the base and the mesquite was 17 inches. The crew was very nice and in an hour and ten minutes had trimmed all three and they were very well trimmed. On Feb 7 we decided to get the trees removed and get a synthetic lawn so I called Chips tree service and asked if theyd give me a discount on removing the bare trees. They do synthetic lawns and pavers and I was going to have them redo my entire back yard. On Weds, Feb 12, Chips Tree Service charged $1300 to cut down the three near bare trees, leaving the stumps. The crew was great, and in an hour was done and we had three tree stumps sticking up. Mitchell Rock with the tree service did NOT tell me that Blue Stake has to be called for three small tree stumps in the center of a back yard, before they can be removed. So on Monday, Feb 17 the tree stumps are still in the yard and no stump grinding has been done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their phone 623 866 2207, replies with a recorded message "this phone does not accept anonymous calls.goodbye".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A woman called on Friday, Feb 14 and left message, said she wanted to make an appointment for stump grinding and left the phone number with that same recording[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I called it, and it does not accept anonymous calls. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the other phone numbers on their business card and left a recorded message that I want these stumps GONE.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has been SIX DAYS since the trees were chopped off and the trunks are STILL in the ground impeding further yard work. I contracted with this company and they did NOT finish the job. Their work crew is great but their planning abilities and honesty is severely lacking. They made a mess in my yard and abandoned the job. BEWARE!! My synthetic lawn and pavers will NOT be installed by this company. read more

Moises and his crew were timely, EXTREMELY efficient and very knowledgeable in removing this very large tree with the crane! It was a wonder to watch all the crew work together! I had an interesting experience. I called them to see about getting the large ficus in my front yard trimmed. The salesman/consultant pointed out that the tree was showing signs of disease. We talked about just trimming the tree and what it would cost versus what it would cost to remove the tree. The tree may have lived for 5-7 years, but factoring the cost of trimming it every year or eighteen months it made more sense to have it removed. We decided to have them plant another tree in the yard. We scheduled the removal for the last week of January and planting of the new tree for the last year of February due to the possibility of a late freeze in February. I was also promised some liquid nutrients to help the tree along, a watering schedule, a drip system schedule, and that the yard would be blue staked before the new tree was planted. Well, the new tree showed up when they came to remove the old one. I called the salesman and he stated he would extend the warranty on the tree for an additional month since the tree was being planted early. That sounded good to me. My wife came home and was upset that the tree was not planted where we had discussed it being planted. I was upset because they had not left the nutrients or a watering schedule. I locked my credit card and was about to call them the next morning when they contacted me. I ended up in touch with Cecilia who stated the tree would be moved. The crew came back out, did not have any nutrients or knowledge that they were supposed to bring some. The yard had not been blue staked either. They called their office and told me the blue stake crew would be out in one to three days. No one came. I did receive repeated calls as to when I was going to pay though. I was contacted by Yesenia and the salesman, they both assured me my concerns would be addressed and they would make sure I was satisfied. They both worked with me to accomplish the blue staking, moving of the tree, and delivery of the nutrients. I am very satisfied with how things turned out. read more
