    Hummus appetizer
    Lauren B.

We dropped in for a quick bite to check this out. Cute place with a lot of potential. We only had the hummus which was good. It came with the fried pita slices (as well as toasted ones) which are so good! The drinks were also good. We didn't stay to eat but the food that came out around us looked great! I would say the ambiance was the thing that was a little off. The lights were too bright and the music was either off or turned down. It was very awkwardly quiet. This could be a great tavern/sports bar with some tweaks to the ambiance. They have a lot of TVs so would be great to have them turned up on game days.

We each ordered off the lunch menu- the Thai Chili Crunch and the Chimichanga. While the flavors of both were delicious, they were extremely rice laden. So many carbs. For my Thai dish, it really just made it look like there was a lot less chicken than expected. Per her suggestion, I added broccoli. Unfortunately it was $5 extra! There are tv's everywhere so expecting great conversation shouldn't be expected if you're dining with people who are prone to shiny things. The tv's showing people getting injured did laughs really is a negative distraction. If you're looking for a non-tv experience, go to the Canton location where the outdoor area is well-designed and the portions are more even. Overall, Lindsey made the experience great & since this is close, we'll return.

The drinks are always fun - look for seasonal specials. Our favorite app is "crack" dip - cream cheese, sausage and some other delicious ingredients. I recently attended a wedding at Wolf Mountain Vineyards, and since I was staying in the nearby IHG/Holiday Inn Express (on the square) I stopped by Shenanigans to watch some great live music there and have a beer. As I was leaving the next day I hit the place again for lunch before hitting the road back to Atlanta. This is a pretty classic Irish Pub more suited to college students getting their buzz-on. I had been told that the food was good and surprisingly, yes the Reuben Sandwich I ordered was exceptional - juicy pile of corned beef sauteed with kraut and Russian Dressing on marbled rye. I ordered mine with a side of broccoli to maintain the semblance of eating healthy. The service was really good considering I was one of the first two people there (seating took a minute) with a great server who came by frequently to make sure my needs were met. The food came out almost instantly - less than 5 minutes after I ordered, with a steaming sandwich and veg. I plan to explore this place more the next time I'm in town.

No one in town charges more for a beer than this place. For example, I enjoy local IPAs and Creature Comforts (Athens) is everywhere. I can go to several other stops in town and pay less for a 16 oz can or pour of this beer. Compared to another decent stop down the street, three roses is almost 30% more. My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. That adds up if you like to frequent a place. Hence, we stopped frequenting. Overall, I like the decor and as noted, the food is decent. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. Not sure this would be my top choice to watch a game but it would work in a pinch if the other places were too busy or noisy.

My child wouldn't touch their food so I tried a bite - immediately had to rinse my mouth out. Something is off with the oil or ingredients they're using. They did take it off the bill but we sat there forever waiting for someone to even come check on us. My sticky ribs were sauce wise but really fatty and cheap quality. The biggest issue arose when I went to pay my $19.04 bill, the "20% tip" on the machine came out to $5.61. I pointed it out to the server right there and he acted confused and played dumb, which was frustrating. The custom tip button wasn't even working so I couldn't fix it myself, and with my kid losing it I just had to pay and go. It wasn't until I did the math in the car that I realized just how off it really was -- that's almost 29.5%, not 20%. This left me with a really yucky feeling. Just double check the math on that tip screen before you pay. I have a feeling this has caught a lot of people without them realizing it. Needless to say, I won't be returning here.

If you've spent more than five minutes eating your way through Alpine Helen GA, you already know…read morethe truth: finding genuinely good, made-from-scratch food here feels like a competitive sport--and most places are losing. Campfire Restaurant isn't just winning... it's playing a completely different game. I've been here since day one, watching owner Matt and his crew build this place with intention and pride. This isn't a "let's open and see what happens" spot--this is passion, detail, and respect for doing food right. In a town where "authentic" can mean reheated and overpriced, Campfire stands out like a perfectly cooked ribeye in a sea of mediocrity. The vibe hits immediately--rustic North Georgia lodge meets modern comfort. Wood, textures, that Smoky Mountains ambiance. Indoor dining is cozy, outdoor dining under Edison lights is where the magic lives. It's date night, family dinner, or "I survived today" energy all in one place. Locals recommend this place for a reason--and locals don't hype things lightly. Now the food. Everything is made in-house--real Southern food, comfort food, and American food with flavor and consistency. The Southwest Gunpowder Nachos? Legendary. Handmade chips, massive portions--get steak and extra corn. It's two meals unless you're me. Best value in Helen. The smash burger is easily one of the best in Georgia--juicy, consistent, unforgettable. Fried chicken is solid, but locals will tell you: get the chicken tenders. Ribeye is tender, juicy, and always recommended. Mac and cheese? Creamy, different--but I'll admit I'm biased because mine is elite. Still worth trying. And the s'mores dessert--if you don't have room, make room. It's rich, indulgent, and perfect for date night or birthdays. Service has that "Cheers" feel--friendly, consistent, no judgment if you roll in looking like life just happened. They remember you, take care of you, and that matters. Parking is easy in the Alpine village shopping center. Seating is quick if you're smart about timing (don't be silly). Live music adds to the vibe without overpowering it. Prices are reasonable (rare for Helen), portions are big, and quality stays consistent--that trifecta is everything. This is a bucket list, must visit, locals favorite, top rated spot in Alpine Helen GA. Whether it's Oktoberfest, a Smoky Mountains trip, or just a Friday night--this is where you go when you want food that actually delivers. And honestly? In this town... that says everything. #facts REASONS TO VISIT: 1. Must visit, bucket list restaurant in Alpine Helen GA 2. Locals favorite, top rated, best in North Georgia 3. The gunpowder seasoning along with the clarified butter really enhanced the flavor of the ribeye. My wife gave me a bite of her chicken Alfredo and it was well seasoned too. Nice balance of garlic.
