Scheduled an advance appointment with Dr Arthika Chandramohan at this facility for my son's eye test (He is special needs- Autistic). Took half day off from work , drove 90 minutes in traffic and made it on time to be there 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment. Waited 1 HOUR after checking in but could not get doctor to see our son. They kept telling us they will dilate our son's eyes and process will take 2 hours. Well , 1 hour into appointment and they haven't even started. I expressed my displeasure to the receptionist in an extremely polite way and her response was "Go to our grievance site and submit a complaint". No apology , no empathy whatsoever ! We pay a lot to these doctors and hospitals for their Time and service - yet they do not value ours ! We left the place and will never return here. They hospital nor doctor made any efforts to reach out to us after we cancelled. Extremely disappointed ! read more

I truly appreciate everyone we encountered during our visit to the ED. From the triage RN, to the PA, to the ortho tech and XRay tech - everyone was just fabulous and so friendly. We were given a bed within minutes of arriving and felt so cared for during a very scary time when my 8 year old son had just broken his arm at his basketball game. As a medical provider myself, I want to say thank you so much to the entire staff for your compassionate care, urgency, and constant communication to keep us in the loop. Visit on 9/17/25 - As echoed in some sentiments below - if I could give zero stars, I would. I took my 18 month old here for a sudden raspy cough and trouble breathing that was causing her to wake up and choke. I called my daughter's pediatrician 24hr hotline and they said get her to ER to confirm she that she hadn't aspirated at dinner and rule out other illness. I could not find a CHOC specific entrance so I entered the Providence Mission Hospital wing. I asked to be directed to CHOC specifically - the nurse at the check-in desk said, no, it's processed through here. They stopped us immediately at the door and had us sit behind partition with no privacy from the waiting area (no triage offered). The nurse asked what happened and for my daughter's symptoms. The Physician's Assistant, Charles Edward, was one of the rudest "professionals" I've ever met. He interrupted my conversation with the nurse (from across another partition) and said, "so what, you want me to blast her with x-amount of radiation to confirm if she swallowed something!?" I was completely flabbergasted by his outburst and said, "I am here because a medical professional told me to bring my daughter to the closest children's ER to investigate the rapid onset the symptoms. I'm seeking whatever guidance that will help her." He angrily left his rolling desk, pulled out a stethoscope and listened to her chest, demanded the nurse to check her vitals (temperature, oxygen saturation, pulse, blood pressure). He said, "she sounds fine and if she swallowed something small it will resolve itself. She's not having trouble breathing or she'd be lethargic with low oxygen." He dismissed us. Nurse said, "I'm sorry. I do hear something when she breathes." And quietly directed us to the waiting area. 20 mins later I heard the nurse politely ask him, "is there anything else we're going to do for them?" And he angrily said, "no! Send them home." We were discharged 5 minutes later. We were there less than 1 hour total. It wasn't busy. The next morning my daughter's health had declined. We brought her to Hoag where her pediatrician is. She was diagnosed with Croup and required a steroid treatment. She was ill for 10 days. She choked on her own mucus and gagged until she vommitted. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't return to daycare for 2 weeks requiring at home care day and night. I feared that she would choke in her sleep, as the doctor warned me if that happened, she could die. I woke up worried with every cough and barely slept for 2 weeks. My daughter had significant trauma for months afterward that effected her behaviorally - waking up believing she couldn't breathe long after the symptoms went away. Panicking when she began to cry because congestion would begin and she thought it would gag her. Night terrors. It was incredibly heartbreaking for all involved and healing ended long after the croup was gone. 6 months later I received multiple medical bills from Providence Mission Hospital, CHOC Children's Hospital, and U.S. Acute Care Solutions. All three parties up-coded and duplicated their service to a Level 3 ER visit and billed separately under different facilities and attending physicians. As a single mother, I now have $1700 in charges to pay - my insurance covered over $3000. All for what is the absolutely WORST medical service I have received anywhere in my entire 34 years on this planet. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE. As a mother, I am begging you. They're in violation of the No Surprises Act, committing insurance fraud through up-coding and duplicate charges, charging for physicians who don't come in contact with the patient, and are negligent in their care. Please listen to the negative reviews. I felt completely demoralized and disrespected by this care team. I worry that their negligence and malpractice will result in someone's death. This whole chair only with no recliner instead of a hospital bed in the pediatric room has got to go. It feels like a waiting room. Super uncomfortable and so weird when there's plenty of beds available and have been available for hours... I'm with my toddler after he sustained a head injury and they're treating things non urgently. If I felt this wasn't an emergency I wouldn't be here. I would've just gone to the doctor in the morning. The janitor was the only one who I felt really cared for my son, he went to go find him a toy he thought he would like and my son smiled and it was so sweet. This hospital is so empty for the staff to take so long to get him to an mri considering he had a super nasty nosebleed after he hit the back of his head. He's nonverbal.. how is this not an emergency. I really want to love this hospital, but this is so ridiculous. Excellent service! Wonderful hospital! We brought our daughter here with intense pain right above her stomach. We filled out some paperwork. Doctors came out, saw how bad it was, and in less than five minutes, she was in. Nurse brought out a wheelchair and in she went with our daughter. Nurses, staff, and the doctors and surgeons were all very nice to my wife and our daughter. They were all super friendly, professional, and helpful. They treated them really nicely. My wife was very impressed with them. The doctors and surgeons explained everything to my wife, every step of the way, and answered all the questions my wife had. Two days and a half, my wife and our daughter were in that hospital (Gallbladder removal), and everyone was very nice. Today, three days after we left the hospital, my wife is still talking about the hospital staff, jajaja. And also, our daughter still won't let go off the blanket they gave her while at the hospital jajaja. Parking could get a bit tricky, but if you read the directions and the signs carefully, you would be ok. If you are a visitor like my wife (She stayed with our daughter, a minor, overnight), she went home to shower and then go back to the hospital, by the time she got back there it was 10:30 pm. The visitor's entrance closes at 10:00 pm. So she parked and entered through the emergency room. They also have a vendor come in to sell food and drinks. Overall, excellent hospital!! I absolutely cannot even put into words how nice this hospital was for my daughter. We had a horrible experience at saddleback about a year ago prior when she was sick where they actually asked me to not bring her her there after she kicked a nurse giving her medicine. Anyway, today at CHOC they made her feel so comfortable and made absolutely everything kid friendly in their tone, the way they spoke, they answered her question, and really spoke in terms she could understand being a curious 4 year old and all. I am so grateful for the staff, their management, their training, and protocol. It was the best experience for something that is usually so frightening. Do not take your child here!!! We took my son into the er for his asthma. We were seen right away but after they decided to admit us the er doctor and nurses never came back in. I had to ask them for another breathing treatment, not to mention we had to wait four hours for a room. Then we learned we were sharing a room with a kid who had a 103 degree fever and pneumonia. I was not going to let this happen as a sheet was between them and my son is 3 years old. As I knew what needed to happen next and my son was doing much better we left. I was not going to risk him picking up pneumonia while his lungs were weak. The doctor claimed he wasn't contagious. I was thrown out the hospital for peacefully advocating for my nonverbal child!! I couldn't get in hospital and they decided to go ahead and take over to do a procedure without my knowledge! On the 4th day I went home to take a shower and as I went back to my child's hospital room security stopped me and said I was not allowed in! It was disgusting ! I started to cry they told me he was already on propophol and I'm the surgical room .. I demanded to let me up to be with my son on the 3rd floor ,but administrators decided to throw me out! They said that I had a previous contract from last year for taking photos filming my son and being disrespectful.. we had always filmed in our private room ? Because I put another complaint on Yelp so this was their revenge ! My son who is autistic was so scared ! I'm his legal full Physical Custodian .I was so scared I was afraid my child could have a sinister reaction and that if he woke up or not and the guilt for going home to take a shower ! Security told me I couldn't be with my son as he was told by the two women managing the hospital that day ! One of them red hair looked like a French mouse and they other that looked like MRs piggy from the muppets show! Yeah well and not to mention how evil of them doing that to me when all I'm doing is seeking to advocate to help my severely autistic son ! Service was ok and generally prompt. Staff was polite, nothing extraordinary, just ok. The issue I have is with their pricing. My 9 year old son had a mild concussion, and two weeks later bumped heads with his little brother. About an hour later, he was complaining of a headache, fuzzy vision and nausea, so being concerned about a possible secondary concussion, and it being on a Sunday afternoon (urgent care was closed at this point) and the wife's anxiety I took him to the emergency room just to be sure. During our 35 minute visit, we spent about 30 minutes sitting in the waiting room. Of the 5-7 minutes we interacted with the staff, 2 minutes were taking his BP and pulse and 5 minutes with a nurse practitioner who asked him about half a dozen screening/evaluation questions. The nurse practitioner, concluded he was probably ok and sent us home with a concussion warning signs print out to look for and told him to take it easy for a couple of days. For that 5-7 minutes of service, which was done all in the waiting area, we were charged $824 just by the hospital for the use of the "room". This does not even include the doctor's fees, this is literally just the use of the waiting room for 30 minutes. If you annualize that, that would run you about $14.4 million dollars per year per person, just to sit in the ER, not to get any services or treatment, but just to physically exist in the waiting area! This is just pure insanity! I'm luckily fortunate enough that I can afford to pay this bill, but there is something seriously wrong with this hospital (or maybe more with our national medical system), where just walking through the doors of an ER will cost you close to $1K. How many parents will elect to not take their kids to the ER out of fear of getting fleeced with outrageous medical bills. How many of those kids would have actually needed emergency medical services, and how many of those will ultimately have serious or fatal consequences. We all joke that used car sales people are the profession to be weary of, but honestly doctors take the cake on highway robbery. No wonder of the top 25 highest paying professions something like 23 of them are in the medical field, and CHOC Mission Viejo is right in there in the highway robbery category. read more

I needed help getting here with my girlfriend. I hadn't eaten a meal in 3 days, had a bad case of food poisoning that wasn't letting me eat anything .. it caused severe dehydration so upon coming I couldn't stand up without my stomach hurting. I had to walk slow & honestly couldn't sit straight on the chairs. I tell them all this. Of course I expect to wait an hour or two for tests/eval. But I was there for 3 hours and all they did in that time was take blood from me ... before sending me back out WITH my dehydration symptoms to wait longer (?) they wanted me to take a urine test and I told them I haven't been able to urinate in a few days. Hardly have any fluids in my body and you want to take more out ? In 3 hours that's all this hospital could do for me -- take blood & make me wait, with my symptoms. I've been to other hospitals-- this one is by far the one with the longest wait. I really thought there would be a bigger sense of urgency here-- I'm seriously not one to complain. I respect doctors so much but this is literally my first ever negative review on Yelp. Care about your well being or the well being of your family ? Go somewhere else. READ the other reviews ... some people got in within minutes. So my understanding is that they pick & choose here who to take first based on visual severity... how do I know they didn't take someone in before me, even when I waited longer & got there first ??? What is up with CHOC? I know they save children's lives every day but what about when a one year old is sent there by urgent care for low oxygen levels and dehydration and they don't see a doctor or PA for 6 hours - no test results, nothing! Finally they administered an IV after 6 hours. It's not right. I assured my son and daughter in law that they were a renowned children's hospital. My 10 year old daughter was referred by the Choc network to have an MRI done. She had a bump on her tongue that ENT said should be checked via an MIR. I was referred to go to the CHOC Mission Viejo hospital to get the MIR. We were at the hospital less than 2 hours and the hospital charged over $15k for this procedure, which after insurance cost us $4k. The MIR itself was $13k plus another $2k for "other things. I had MIR done in the past but was never charged this astronomical number. They also charged me $240 for a pregnancy test on a girl that is 10 years old and has no period!!! When I disputed the bill, I was told that this type of procedure in a specialist children's hospital is more expensive than in a regular out-patient facility. I would have been fine taking my daughter to a "regular outpatient facility" if that would have been an option in the referral and they would have been transparent with the cost. In addition, they provide no viable solutions to resolve these astronomical bills other than sending you to a collection agency. These hospitals know that as a parent you do everything to ensure your child is healthy, so you trust their advice. However, all they care about is making as much money as possible and are taking advantage of parents in vulnerable situations. Shame on you Choc! You are presenting yourself as an organization that is helping kids but in reality, you are taking advantage of family when they are most vulnerable and then put them into impossible financial situations. read more

One of worst hospitals in OC , same goes CHOC Orange. Had to take our baby, so sad this is Children's hospital. We waited for hour and half with not even being checked on, left after baby fell asleep in pain at 11pm. Horrific service. read more

CHOC rents out the 5th floor from St.Joseph. All the pediatric nurses and pediatric staff here are CHOC employees. Visiting a patient here will require you to check in with a photo ID. And you also have to sign in at the front desk. There pediatric ICU, sleep study, and your regular med surgical room. Our little man had his tonsils removed and was admitted for one night. Usually this will be an out patient procedure, but because he is still little... He needs more monitoring post op. The walls here as you get off the elevator is so kid friendly. Adorable and fun! All nurs UIes are very sweet and kind from pre op, pacu, and in his regular floor nurse. After his surgery, my little man was very agitated and surprisingly strong!!! More meds went in. Popsicles. Favorite show and movie. It wasn't working. We were wheeled in early to our regular room to bring this little guy more comfort. Our nurses were just awesome!!! He finally settled down and was very relaxed in his room. They have a playroom on the 5th floor and fun cars that the kids can ride around... Yike, I didn't even know my kid can go fast and he also has his IV in. His IV was done so well... I'm surprised that it's still in!!! (Awesome nurses!!!!) Ronald McDonald also has made a very beautiful space here on the 5th floor. They have a family rooms it's like mini livingrooms families. They have sleeping rooms for parents. They are usually reserve for parents that have their kids in ICU. Another nice thing they have in there, Gourmet Coffee, fridge, and a beautiful bathroom with a shower! It's like a hotel!!! Towels are available and soap. Well... One thing is for sure, I will continue to support McDonald's! The only thing that this place can improve on is a fun waiting room before surgery. It's more geared to us mature adults because only the 5th floor is being rented by CHOC Mission. So for pre op... Bring ur iPad or phone for your kid because we still had to wait 1hr in the waiting room before getting space in pre op. Convenient location for alot of South OC kids. CHOC Orange would have been a further drive for us. Thankful to have CHOC Mission, their nurses, Child Life, and all the friendly staff and dedicated volunteers. I dont want to visit this place again... It's very sad when your kids are sick. My heart goes out to all the children and parents that have to stay here. read more

If there is a ZERO star I would definitely give it to them. My 10 months old had a minor innocent accident. We went to CHOC and stayed at least 5 hours waiting to see a doctor. By the end of the 4th hour, the security guy came by and out of a sudden he realized that there is a policy of 1 adult per child and that only one of us (my husband and I) should stay in the waiting room with the baby. My husband decided to comply and go wait in the car, on his way to the exit from the front door (nearest door to our car), the security guy stopped him and insisted that he should leave from the back door instead which is like 10-15 mins walking to where we parked (it was very sunny as well), my husband told him that he is a cancer patient and can't walk around that long, and we have been going in and out this way for the past few hours with no problems, but the security guy didn't care and start to raise his voice. Even the security guy said if my husband doesn't go outside the hospital now, THE HOSPITAL WILL NOT SEE MY BABY!!!! WHAT KIND OF HOSPITAL SAYS THAT!!! after all, my sick husband had to exit from the back door but luckily they called us to see the doctor right away. We came to this place already stressed and scared about our baby, and instead of helping they turned it into a nightmare. Other patients in the waiting room decided to leave when they saw what happened. We would NEVER RETURN to this place again. read more

My 2 week old newborn got admitted for slightly higher bilirubin levels. It only took a day to achieve the correct bilirubin levels but the nurses said that the baby can not go home until her temp increases by a degree. I asked what the desired temp was and they said the baby needs to hold 98 degrees outside the isolet . I asked to have my baby's temp checked in front of me to which they did. The temp read 98 degrees outside the isolet. The nurse said my baby's temp will eventually drop and that she needed to go back into the isolate. I never seen a her temp drop the whole time she was there, and explained that I can temperature control the climate of my home to mimic the ambient air temp in the Isolet. I spent all day at her bedside holding, feeding, comforting my newborn, and still no temp drop like they were saying. They gave me no definitive answer to how long my baby will need to be there saying things like it could be a week or a couple months. They kept my baby for 5 days and just out of no where on the fifth day they said well you can take your baby home now and literally said "that is if you still want to". This place gave me the creeps. My son unfortunately had to get air lifted to this hospital and was admitted for 5 days but let me say, the PICU staff was the best staff ever. Every nurse was kind and understanding that my son didn't like to be touched and made him the most comfortable he could be. They'd sing songs, count to him and try to distract him when the nurses needed to work on him. They were so kind to me and my husband, very informative to what they were doing and why they were doing it. They would always ask if we needed anything and most importantly gave my son his space when they were only in there to speak with us. He got gifts, toys, stickers! They truly were amazing and for our first hospital stay ever we can say we had a great experience. We had to come here while on vacation with my 3 year old. He had a suspected appendicitis. The doctors and staff were VERY kind and thorough. It was crazy busy though, it was 3 hours before we got a room, but a PA saw us in the waiting room and ordered some tests and medications before we had a room available. They also have a separate kids waiting room which is nice to not be with all the adult ER patients waiting also.... As a PICU nurse, I recommend it if you need to take a child to the ER! read more

CHOC in Mission Viejo is the worse hospital! If I could give them a -5 stars, I would. My child was admitted to the MV hospital a few times. Most of the nurses were friendly and caring. However, the doctors had NO idea what they were doing! On multiple occasions, my child got discharged without receiving a solution to her problems. When she was in pain, they drugged her with Tylenol and Motrin EVERY 2 HOURS instead of finding the root cause of the problem. They neglected my child and provided the WORST care possible! If you love your child, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL!!! read more

I have a prefer from my family doctor for my child. I call to make appointment. But that impossible. Tried for 2 weeks. No way to get appointment. First call the number on document, then the answerer transfer to other, and another, and another, and another. The last one with robo answer tell me leave the message. And never, never call back. My sister was unconscious when I saw her in the bathroom. I took her and came here around 3.00 am today. The nurse asked us to wait for the doctor. We started to wait, however, my sister was so cold and getting worse. We're here for about like 2 hours and still waiting for the doctor! We had the best experience at Choc hospital! My son had a developed bronchiolitis and needed to stay over night for a few days until he could breathe easier on his own. Our morning nurse Jenn made our stay the most enjoyable and pain free stay. She went above and beyond basic nursing and I can't thank her enough. What felt like the worst night of our life became much easier when she stepped through the doors . She treated my baby like her own. She never just went by 'orders' but went by a plan of care that truly was for the comfort and wellbeing of my child. The charge nurses were also all amazing. Thank you Jenn and Choc! read more

Son got bitten by a baby rattler. Went to saddle back ER and got moved to CHOC Mission Visio. My wife had to stay over night w my son in ICU and the nurses were super nice and friendly. They kept on checking to make sure that my son and wife were comfortable. Thank you very much guys. read more

We took our 2yr old to a urgent care in Irvine who told us to take him to the ER at CHOC and we are not new parents. We have 5 children, 22 to this you man. I understand a ER is busy these days, the issue is spending half a day and tests...Dr Calkins eventually appeared and asked me what I that the golf ball sized mass bulging from our 2yrs chest. Well sir this is why I'm here. The nurse continued to ask if the doctor stopped by and i him no. Later the nurse told me after six hours the doctor wanted a COVID test, which would be negative. Finally the Dr appeared and told me he did not know what was going on with our son. The Dr told us that he spoke to another hospital and managed to "clear the path", told us to call in the morning to see if we could "squeeze him in". I reserved my negative comments and we left. Currently I'm working to get our son to see a different doctor this morning. If this becomes problematic, we will drive to another hospital ER until a proper Dx is completed. I would think this Dr would find a child doctor on the 5th floor somewhere but the best he could do is call a different doctor at another hospital. This was our experience and others may have different opinions. In my opinion, avoid care at the location unless the RA is set on transporting you or loved one there. read more

My 3 year old son was transferred here from san bernardino county. He specifically stayed in pediatrics ICU. All the staff, nurses and doctors are AMAZING here. Not sure why there isn't better stars because if I could give 10 stars I would. They are clean, professional, consistent, polite, understanding, calm and just overall and all around absolutely wonderful here. Big shout out to Lisa! Thank you so much Lisa for everything you did. You really went above and beyond every time we saw you. Visited the ER room for my daughter. Everyone was kind and considerate. Felt like the staff cared and took an interest in a human, caring kind of way. It was a busy day in ER and it looked like the other patients were being well-attended to. The greeting person was calm, confident and created a calming atmosphere. She wasn't in a rush to ensure payment ("i.e. Ask for my insurance card) which my wife was in the process of driving over to the hospital); she replied, "we can get your insurance card after you see the doctor", which was nice. We had to order lunch from the cafeteria and it was delicious; they had some healthy food options. Parking was rather limited but no complaints. read more

I delivered my daughter at Mission hospital. She wasn't a preemie, but there were some issues during the delivery that caused my OB to call for help from a neonatologist. Dr Hanten and the Nicu team were in the delivery room within seconds after the code was called, and worked quickly, they did not skip a beat. If you have a premature baby or an issue with delivery that causes trauma or distress for your baby, these are the people you want in your room..trust me. My daughter had to spend 72 hours in the NICU on the 5th floor. It sucked not having her in my postpartum room with me but she recieved the best care in the NICU. Her nurses Mariah and Annie were so sweet and the 2 neonatologists who I dealt with Dr. Hanten and Dr. Kim are the best of the best. Having a newborn in the Nicu is a scary and emotional thing to go through but if you have to experience it, this is where you want to be. My daughter is now a happy and completely healthy 4 week old. Went to the ER for our 7 year old daughter who had severe headaches and vomiting for days. When we checked in she was shaking so bad from the pain they couldnt get a read on her blood pressure. Just to set the stage on how she was feeling. Everyone was great up to that point. Affter getting to our room our Dr. Andrew Lawson came in and after 20 seconds says she looks fine, shrugs his shoulders and sarcastically smiles. He wanted to send us home without any test or scans. This is a child, you have to check something. I can promise you i didnt wake up Sunday morning and say the ER sounds like a fun family day. He starts going back and forth with me on saying shes fine! Then my husband walks and his demeanour totally changed. Now he is up for blood tests and an ultrasound. This is ridiculous because i didnt even trust he'd review them, in his head he already was at a conclusion she was fine. read more

I had my daughter at Mission Hospital. She was a preemie and was quickly transferred to Choc Children's NICU where she spent a little over three weeks. Her nurses were absolutely amazing and I can't thank Mariah and Sarah in the nicu enough for all there help. They were so kind and explained everything. Once my daughter came home she got RSV and had to be admitted to the PICU at Choc Children's. She was treated amazing there as well and everyone of the staff members did everything they could to make my stay comfortable as well as treating my little girl like a princess. read more

I don't think any first time mom's plan for pre-term labor, especially not if pregnancy is going well. I had the picture perfect pregnancy (really aside from finding out at 8w!). I was healthy with no complications... Until I had leaking water at 34w 5d. My daughter decided fast and furious was the way to be and out she came! The NICU team (Dr Hanten and 2 nurses) were on hand to assess her as soon as she was born and transfer her upstairs. I was able to go upstairs to see her a few hours after she was born. The doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers were absolutely amazing over the next 26 days. I cried, tears of joy, with one of our nurses the day my daughter became a NICU graduate and we went home. I'm so very thankful for each and every person who not only tended to my daughter but to my husband and myself during her stay. read more

My 16 month old son was admitted to this hospital for a lung virus. He stayed there 5 days. Overall our experience with the hospital positive. The doctors were caring, supportive and thorough. The errored on the conservative side which I appreciated. They took their time with my child and always had time for questions. I believe that we recieved very good care. The nurses were so friendly and helpful ( with the exception of one, more on that later). They always went above and beyond to make sure we were doing fine. They seemed to care how my son was doing and if he was improving. Also the Ronald McDonald room was fantatstic. They have clean showers for the parents to use....this was very helpful as i never left the hospital. They also have volunteers that brought my son toys and offered me drinks etc. All of this made this stay more tolerable. The cons: I find it strange that at a childern's hopital they do not have kid friendly eating utensils, cups, straws, meals etc. My son's meals came as adult meals with adult sized spoons, and forks. When he needed to have some water the nurse brought him a large 32 oz water jug with the biggest straw! You should see a toddler trying to have the sucking power to actually get the liquid into his mouth! They don't even have a cup with a lid and a straw. Finally a nurse tracked down a sippy cup for him. They also did not have clothing in his size. If anything I found this odd. It is a children's hospital... The only other con was an interaction with one nurse. She was nice at first but then seemed mad as us when he was not discharged to go home. It was a weird interaction. After she learned we were staying (doctor's orders) she became rude, very rude. Who knows what that was about. Like I said before, overall the nurses were awesome! read more

Terrible and disappointing. Choc is supposed to be a place where they understand kids. From the telling my daughter to be quiet for crying from pain or playing to loudly ... or the three failed attempts to redo her IV(while being restrained) I'm so upset and sadden by her care to say the least. As if being a parent with a sick child is not stressful enough the staff make it that much more stressful. Telling my my child "stop moving girlfriend, what are you doing girlfriend?" While she getting a needle in her arm. Ummm. Duh she's gonna move she's 3! Are you not trained and prepared for that? I asked for a transfer to private room or one of the empty rooms on 4 separate occasions they refused stating they were "full". I saw with my own eyes that rooms were open. I think the staff was lazy to switch her. When the ent came to visit he had zero patience and was quick to restrain and shove a tongue depressor extremely aggressively in her clenched jaw as she screamed and cried. I told them let's give her a second and she will open for you but "forcing and retraining" her will NOT put a 3yo at ease. Again....she's 3 Were you not trained how to treat pediatric patients? The list goes on and on.... Oh and when I asked for EKG results it was,"oh I'm sorry I thought they told you ". (Sighs). I'm exhausted from being stressed with my sick child and having to "manage" the staff here. Please go to Hoag. Make the drive. Anywhere but here. Oh and did did I mention..I'm a nurse too. I can't wait to take my baby from this place. read more

My daughter had an emergency appendectomy and was then admitted to the hospital. We were supposed to go home on the second but she kept spiking fevers. The doctors said she needed a few more days in the hospital. On the sixth day they admitted she had contracted an infection in the operating room. Long story short, we had her transfered to CHLA where she had a second surgery to clear out the infection caused by the ChOC general surgeon. Never, ever take your child to this nightmare of a hospital. read more
