Beat Blanket Ever!! Jajaja She won't let go...
    Juan G.

Excellent service! Wonderful hospital! We brought our daughter here with intense pain right above her stomach. We filled out some paperwork. Doctors came out, saw how bad it was, and in less than five minutes, she was in. Nurse brought out a wheelchair and in she went with our daughter. Nurses, staff, and the doctors and surgeons were all very nice to my wife and our daughter. They were all super friendly, professional, and helpful. They treated them really nicely. My wife was very impressed with them. The doctors and surgeons explained everything to my wife, every step of the way, and answered all the questions my wife had. Two days and a half, my wife and our daughter were in that hospital (Gallbladder removal), and everyone was very nice. Today, three days after we left the hospital, my wife is still talking about the hospital staff, jajaja. And also, our daughter still won't let go off the blanket they gave her while at the hospital jajaja. Parking could get a bit tricky, but if you read the directions and the signs carefully, you would be ok. If you are a visitor like my wife (She stayed with our daughter, a minor, overnight), she went home to shower and then go back to the hospital, by the time she got back there it was 10:30 pm. The visitor's entrance closes at 10:00 pm. So she parked and entered through the emergency room. They also have a vendor come in to sell food and drinks. Overall, excellent hospital!! Thank you for taking such good care of my wife and daughter!!

This is what they gave me !! And threw me out yesterday 4/5/2023

I was thrown out the hospital for peacefully advocating for my nonverbal child!! I couldn't get in hospital and they decided to go ahead and take over to do a procedure without my knowledge! On the 4th day I went home to take a shower and as I went back to my child's hospital room security stopped me and said I was not allowed in! It was disgusting ! I started to cry they told me he was already on propophol and I'm the surgical room .. I demanded to let me up to be with my son on the 3rd floor ,but administrators decided to throw me out! They said that I had a previous contract from last year for taking photos filming my son and being disrespectful.. we had always filmed in our private room ? Because I put another complaint on Yelp so this was their revenge ! My son who is autistic was so scared ! I'm his legal full Physical Custodian .I was so scared I was afraid my child could have a sinister reaction and that if he woke up or not and the guilt for going home to take a shower ! Security told me I couldn't be with my son as he was told by the two women managing the hospital that day ! One of them red hair looked like a French mouse and they other that looked like MRs piggy from the muppets show! Yeah well and not to mention how evil of them doing that to me when all I'm doing is seeking to advocate to help my severely autistic son ! I wanted to see him , touch him before he was taken to operating room !!! Instead they smiled on my face lies and had security throw me out for leaving a bad review last year !

My kids doctor trusting him with his phone.

They called me right away and communicated what was happening in a calm, professional, and kind manner which helped my panic calm down. When I arrived, the ER waiting room was overly packed. People were along the hallway with IV bags getting treated because the rooms/beds were full. Even with a packed ER and other patients yelling and being nasty to the medical staff, the staff all kept their cool and did their jobs in a kind yet professional manner. They gave us top of the line quality care. I watched them sew up my partner's face, wrap his broken bones, and give him tests. All were done with professionalism and care. The doctor attending to him was very communicative and explained everything thoroughly. The nurses were telling us stories and made sure my partner had everything he needed. They also have a parking garage which is helpful. It's a bit of a walk but they have someone with a golf cart giving people rides to and from the parking. Thank you all again!! I can't thank you enough :) Also i'll spare you the gory details and not add photos. You're welcome lol

One of the nurses who cared for me had 25 years of experience. As a first-time mom, I truly appreciated her expertise. Because of her decisions and support, my labor lasted only 30 minutes. Everything I wanted during labor was respected, and the staff did their best to accommodate my wishes. The postpartum care was excellent as well. They gave me a bag full of postpartum supplies to take home, which was very helpful. The only thing I was expecting more from was the food. I had heard great things about the food at Hoag, but I found it to be just okay. The only concern is a billing issue that we are currently trying to figure out because of some unexpected charges. My experience at Hoag was smooth, pleasant, and very positive. I am grateful to all the nurses and staff for making the birth of my first baby such a wonderful experience

Warning for Prostate Cancer Patients: Lack of Preparation & Professionalism…read moreRating: 1/5 Stars I am a prostate cancer patient who recently transitioned to a PPO to seek care at City of Hope Irvine. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Jeffrey S. Yoshida was deeply concerning and did not live up to this institution's reputation. The Major Issues: Lack of Preparation: Despite transferring all my records, the doctor appeared not to have read my chart. He asked basic questions about my treatment (Brachytherapy/seed implants) that were clearly documented. Questionable Clinical Advice: He dismissed my concerns about PSA "nadir" timing for LDR Brachytherapy, claiming "they are all the same," which contradicts standard medical literature and my previous specialists' guidance. Professionalism & Privacy: I overheard the doctor making disparaging remarks about the "strange" patient he saw right before me while he was still in the hallway. This raised immediate concerns about how he discusses patients behind closed doors. Administrative Failure: I filed a formal complaint with City of Hope Patient Advocacy. They lost the complaint. I refiled a 2nd time and they called me in a day and promised a written response in 30 days. That time has now past and I have been ghosted. I canceled any future follow up with doctor and went to UC Irvine. The UCI doctor was spectacular. What a difference! Stay away from City of Hope. Bottom Line: If you are a patient who values a doctor who studies your history before walking in the room, I suggest looking elsewhere. My new doctor demonstrated professional immediately. He demonstrates better engagement and preparation.

The Dr in the er insisted I was just having a panic attack, even though I expressed to him that I have had panic attacks before and they have NEVER felt like this. He told me I would be given anti anxiety meds and be sent on my way. They took blood and I waited in the er for hours. I have a weak immune system so sitting in a room with sick people all day makes me uncomfortable. After an extended period of time I chose to leave because if they were just going to give me drugs I felt no reason to be there. After I get home, I receive the results from my cbc and there are abnormalities that are consistent with infection or cancer. I told the dr of some of my other symptoms like enlarged lymph nodes and he dismissed me. Then the comprehensive metabolic panel come backs and I am low in potassium, hence the cardiac issues... but I'm just having a panic attack (cue the sarcasm). I have symptoms that could indicate leukemia or lymphoma, including rashes, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes, bone pain, lumps in my breast and armpits... but I'm "crazy" and just having a panic attack....( cue more sarcasm) Don't go to this hospital if you're a woman. They dismiss you as crazy. As the EMTs I had, had horrible bedside manner: they were two young women and they kept rolling their eyes and saying "I can't believe we were sent on this call. Of course we got this call" completely dismissing me and acting like they were disappointed it wasn't more of a tragedy. It was sickening.

UPDATE: nearly a month later, I'm still dealing with Hoag Aliso Viejo Urgent Care incompetence…read moreregarding an asthma medication. After receiving a denial letter from my Medicare Part D provider, I brought it to CVS and asked them to bill Medicare Part B - per the denial. CVS pharmacist informed me they needed an asthma diagnosis to bill Medicare Part B. CVS contacted the clinic twice last week and were IGNORED. I checked with CVS today and they still hadn't heard back from Hoag. I called the clinic, spoke to Luis (who refused to give his surname). He was as unhelpful as possible. I fact he attempted to blame ME for Medicare Part B refusing payment. He kept muttering to contact them sooner the next time - which had nothing to do with the issue. I explained to this young man how I was forced to pay out of pocket... at least 5 times. I don't think he ever understood why I was calling. Luis called and spoke to the CVS pharmacist who gave him the Medicare Part B *provider* phone number. Luis gave me that number and told me, the patient, the call. Medicare asked for the NPI (National Provider Identifier) which a patient wouldn't have. CVS is unable to assist as Hoag Urgent Care computer system refused to electronically submit the prescription to CVS - stating it needed a pre-authorization (and advised me to check back in 10 days). This is Albuterol Sulfate nebulizer solution that I needed to keep myself out of the hospital while battling Influenza Type A. I was forced to purchase the medication out of pocket because breathing is rather a mandatory thing. I will be filing complaints with Medicare, Hoag Patient Relations, and the Better Business Bureau. In future, I will be going to another facility for my urgent care needs, as Aliso Viejo has ALWAYS been a problem ... either with billing or substandard medical care. HOAG COMPUTER PRESCRIBING SYSTEM REFUSED TO SEND ASTHMA DRUG TO CVS. That's the issue and it's BAD. I'm a senior citizen with Type A influenza and asthma. I was short of breath at my visit earlier with Dr. Z. Ahmed. He prescribed Abuterol solution for my nebulizer and Tamaflu. Unfortunately, the computer system at Hoag made the decision to NOT send the Albuterol solution to my pharmacy as it decided the med required a pre-auth. My husband came back from on the pharmacy with Tamaflu ONLY. PROBLEM! I was forced to call Hoag Urgent Care and tell them to call in the Albuterol Dr. Ahmed wanted me to have at home to prevent a *breathing emergency*. I was forced to get dressed again and drive myself to CVS to pick up my asthma med. I paid cash. MY CHOICE - NOT HOAG'S COMPUTER. I called and spoke to Katherine, informing her of this massive issue. Instead of being proactive and helping, she made the decision to take my complaint about Hoag computer system personally - although I sincerely doubt SHE programmed the system. My request to Katherine was quite simple: "please inform Dr. Ahmed that Hoag's computer failed to send my asthma med to my pharmacy." Katherine decided to take issue with this simple request - so here I am, posting a complaint. Dr. Ahmed needs to know the problem with Hoag computer system. It's HIS license and he should be confident that the medication he prescribed actually gets sent to the pharmacy. That didn't happen so I'm here to inform the public and Hoag that their computer prescribing system is INTRUSIVE and is making medical decisions without a license. I was using EXPIRED Albuterol at home (April 2025) over the weekend, waiting to go to urgent care today. Dr. Ahmed did everything right. Hoag computer decided to deny me the medication because my insurance wanted a pre-auth. THAT WASN'T THE COMPUTERS CALL. It was mine. I paid cash - $28.34 (NO BIG DEAL). MY DECISION because I like *breathing* ... kinda necessary, right? DO BETTER HOAG ...

It felt like patients were being prioritized based on how staff perceived they felt rather than how long they had been waiting. In total, I spent over 11 hours here. After waiting that long, I expected more communication about my condition, treatment, and next steps. To make matters worse, when we went to pick up the prescription that was sent over, it wasn't ready, which resulted in another hour of waiting. I understand emergency rooms can be busy and that patients are triaged based on medical need, but the lack of communication throughout the process was extremely frustrating.
