You have to call your order ahead before you can pick up the order. They have the door locked and will bring out the order to you. We ordered a large strawberry milkshake with no whip cream. The large milkshake is a 20 ounce cup. I also ordered a mint chip small milkshake, which is a 16 ounce less whipped cream. We also ordered a hot caramel sundae with vanilla ice cream and whip cream. I also ordered a double raspberry Italian ice in a cup. Since everything has to go the ice cream's are better in cups, than melting in a cone. The strawberry was a winner as was the mint chip milkshake. The caramel sundae was also tasty for mom. My Italian ice was different, not what I was expecting, but not bad.

Located in the Greater Mack corridor of Grosse Pointe Woods, we found Chocolate Bar Cafe served some of the BEST Michigan-based ice cream and sundaes that we've ever had! This cafe is one of the original Louis Alinosi ice cream parlors having begun over 100 years ago. Alinosi's Spumoni is a well-known local favorite. I ordered a scoop and was served a VERY generous portion of goodness. So flavorful were the chocolate selections that my companion nearly asked for a second sundae! Seating is located within, and there are tables outside along Mack Ave. The young servers were friendly, patient and give you free tastes to help with deciding your flavor of the day. Prices are reasonable. Check out the juke box too!

This is a great spot. They have cupcakes, ice cream, candies, etc. I got a hot fudge sundae, regular size, and it was huge. They have tons of specialty sundaes too. My daughter had a cupcake and they had lots of unique choices. The place is clean and staff friendly. The decor is old school ice cream parlor with an updated twist. We will definitely be back.

They made a really cute cake and smash cake for us. I'm picky about frosting, and they have the good frosting. The cake was good and not at all dry. We will get all our birthday cakes there from now on!

I love Chocolate Bar Cafe! Stepping inside is like stepping back in time to a simpler time. This past month we had two big occasions to celebrate my babies Confirmation and my eldest daughter's 16th birthday. I love their cake and their frosting. Thank you Chocolate Bar Cafe for being a big part of our family celebrations much like Hagelstein's of Royal Oak was to my family growing up on the west side. Another plus is that they carry Alinosi fine chocolates without which no Christmas stocking or Easter basket would be complete. I you!

Best cupcakes. They also make a chocolate layer cake with vanilla frosting that is very good and moist.

From their cakes and cookies, to their parfaits and macaroons, everything just hits. On a most recent visit, I tried their biscoff parfait and it was a show stopper. It was hard for me to enjoy my Matilda chocolate cake (though I managed) knowing that I had more biscoff parfait to eat. They do coffee and other assorted beverages as well, but those are just support for the real stars of the show here, their desserts. I cannot say one bad thing I have had here (though a friend of mine says their cinnamon rolls were underwhelming). OVERALL - a great ending to an evening, or a destination unto itself. Get some, now! I've had their fudge and cosmic brownie both of which were yummy and even better warmed which you can ask to do. Their Banana Foster latte was the perfect amount of banana and it didn't taste artificial or overwhelming. The Dragonfruit Lychee refresher was really yummy and the right amount of sweet. The Blueberry Matcha was okay. The syrup was just at the bottom and wasn't really incorporated well to complement the matcha. The matcha itself was also subpar it wasn't very strong and I've definitely had better. Overall, super cute environment and good sweets selection!

That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.

Unfortunately the customer service wasn't as great as I remember. My partner walked in, and there was no greeting and basically no acknowledgment. The lady was just on her cell phone the entire time he was trying to order. I used to come here a lot with my best friend and I'll be back for more donuts . We used to love calling them in advance so they could be very fresh w/o a wait.
