This is the second time I've ordered this set. The dishes were tasty. Service was great. It was very filling and worth the experience. The afternoon crowd was very light with plenty of seats to enjoy this meal with minimal noise. Edwin should be happy about this review.

After shopping at H-Mart, we went to their food court. They have plenty of choices, and I chose Chodang Tofu & BBQ. All of the booths are counter service. You place your order, they give you a pager, and when the pager goes off you go get your food. I chose Hot Stone Chicken which was really outstanding. It's served with several sides - soup, kimchee, potatoes, and fish cakes. But the chicken dish was spectacular. It's served in a large (and heavy) stone bowl. Rice is on the bottom, which is great since the bowl is very hot and the rice gets crispy on bottom. There were a variety of vegetables, and a hefty amount of chicken. It really was delicious. I plan to go again soon...

    Beef rib tofu soup

I've come here a few times since they've opened, and I'm still raving about this place to my friends who haven't been yet. We frequent the chodang location in Mount prospect quite often, but the location inside of the hmart food court has a beef rib tofu soup on their menu that I haven't seen on the Mount prospect one (or maybe it's a new item for both?). It's +$4 for the beef rib tofu soup. My tofu soup came with two huge beef ribs, and it had a ton of meat on it. The meat was tender, fatty, and everything I hoped it would be. The tofu soup was as good as the other location. On top of this, the tofu soup comes with a few banchan (some small dishes on the side), and a fried fish too! It also comes with a pack of seaweed, which honestly I haven't figured out what this is for yet, but my kids like eating it. A friend did send me photos of her beef rib tofu soup after I recommended it to her, and her bones looked a lot smaller than mine did. It's possible they got smaller now, or maybe it's random how big your ribs are. I will definitely be back though to try other things on their menu (maybe this again too, and will hope their beef ribs didn't shrink in size). Also note: it's hard to find seats here! I came at 2:30pm once in btwn main eating times and still had to wait around to get a seat. If you come with someone else, maybe one of you should scout for a seat while the other person orders.

Meh. The squid was ok, and the veggies looks great. But the sauce was too sweet, and obviously too catered for the more Americanized. Traditional Korean dish would be a lot more spicy and way less spicy.

Portions are huge--the pulled pork cheese fries alone could feed 5 people. The ribs were delicious and a standout. Brisket was a bit on the dry side but still tender, and the burnt ends were good (just avoid the fattier pieces). Jalapeño cheddar brat was one of my top favorites. Absolutely worth getting! My son also got the jumbo wings. He said they were OK weren't his top favorite. Sides really impressed--cornbread, coleslaw, and baked beans were all flavorful and worth it. Mac and cheese was creamy but a little bland. The employee that was taking our order was very helpful. He explained all of their different barbecue sauces that they have and went through detail explaining which one would be best with what type of meat so that was really nice and then he was super awesome and gave us all to try since we had such a wide variety of meats. Great spot for BBQ, especially if you're going with a group!

I'm glad I called because they had holiday hours today and glad they mentioned they are stopping taking orders at a certain time and I was able to place an order to go. It's in a private parking lot in a strip mall type set up. Their location is in the corner end of the lot closest to the main road. As you walk in, you can smell the barbecue and looking around. It's a nice spacious place. They also have a bar along with a full arcade game room. When I came in to pick up my order, they were pretty quick. The staff was friendly in the place was clean. As I got home, I unloaded the food, it was cute. They wished me a happy Fourth of July of my to go bag. This is what we ordered: -Full slab barbecue pork ribs, it was nice and smoky. They served the type of ribs that you have to work on chewing it tear off the bone a bit. It's not fall off the bone, soft meat which I prefer myself. I requested the Chicago Sweet barbecue sauce which I like the flavor, but keep in mind. It does have a black pepper taste to it if you're sensitive to spicy. -half a pound of brisket we requested the fattier side of our order. It was very good soft and juicy. I would definitely get this again. -side of Mac and cheese, this was pretty good. I get it again. The noodles were soft and cheesy. Keep in mind. There's also a little heat spiciness if you like it like that. -mini corn dogs and fries kids menu, the corn dog was OK however I felt it was a bit overcooked a little too crunchy and the hotdog ended up being a bit dry and the fries had some good flavor, but for some reason, it was overcooked as well, someone in the reviews made a comment it could be twice fried fries that made it looked dark which I'd rather have it golden color not dark overcooked fresh cut fries. I give the place 4/5 stars service and how clean the place is inside. I would give my food order, 3/5 stars overall 3.5 stars.. Overall, it was OK barbecue not sure if it's because I ordered at the end of their day or not of certain dishes over a bit dry, fried/cooked... I'll have to come back here when they first open and dine in and update my review as I like bbq and support local businesses.

The food is bold, smoky, and clearly made with care -- not rushed, not overthought, just done right. It's the best around, plain and simple. What really sets it apart, though, is the heart behind it. I wanted a brisket sandwich, but they only sell sliders. I'm not a fan of sliders, but it was served as one regular sandwich. I also ordered mac n cheese and cole slaw. The total was $23. After paying, the nice lady said that she could bring my order when it is ready because it was a little chilly outside. Lest than 10 minutes later my order was brought out to my car. The bag had some weight to it. I dug right in and ate right there in my car. I didn't care for the flavor of the brisket sandwich bread. However, the brisket flavor was phenomenal, so savory, and was tender as well. There was more salt than I preferred but not too much to ruin it. It's hard to find good bbq in this area, especially with me being from Texas. In contrast the mac n cheese needed a little help with some salt. Otherwise it hit the spot. The cole slaw tasted good and was more on the sweet side. The meal was far from perfect but I was satisfied.

Seriously! So, imagine my surprise when I found out they had a restaurant on Irving Park Road in Wooddale - and I would occasionally pass it going to and from work! Well, it was time to try it for lunch today. There wasn't a big line of people, but boy did the food smell like barbecue when I walked in! I quickly ordered the two meat combo with chopped brisket and pulled pork. I got the green chili, Mac and cheese as a side, as well as the classic coleslaw. All right - the ambience was just perfect for a small barbecue place. The food came quickly, but I noted it wasn't quite right. I had asked for chopped brisket not sliced brisket. Not a crime against humanity, true, but still I didn't complain and I decided to go ahead and eat it anyway. So how was it? Well, I slathered on sweet rays barbecue sauce, and ate like crazy. The meat was pretty darn good! The green chili mac & cheese was delicious- can't say that the coleslaw was to my taste, but there was nothing wrong with it. The cornbread was fantastic. The only reason for the demerit? Was that I ordered chopped brisket and got sliced. Will I come here again? Yes, yes I think I shall! And I think you should try it too if you like barbecue.
