My friend and I had lunch at KBBQ today, and I felt like I had to leave a quick review.... Having lived in the Chicago area for many years, I've visited just about every restaurant that has opened over the years. I've also been to KBBQ several times for dinner and even left a review when they first re-opened. However, today was my first time trying their lunch menu, and I was genuinely impressed. Unlike dinner time, the bright daylight streaming through the windows illuminated every corner of the restaurant, making it easy to notice how clean and well-maintained the space is. Honestly, if there had been any signs of poor hygiene that I might have missed during dinner visits, I would have noticed them right away. But there was absolutely nothing to find! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us so warmly that we almost felt like we were being welcomed by old friends. They even looked around to find us a more comfortable seat and ended up giving us a great spot. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the menu in detail. Today we ordered spicy cod fish stew, grilled mackerel and a spicy squid stone pot bibimbap... I wasn't particularly hungry :) since I had eaten breakfast not too long before, but as someone who believes in never skipping a meal, I picked up my spoon and chopsticks anyway. Well... my chopsticks got lost along the way. The six side dishes (banchan) completely stole my attention. Every single one tasted like something my grandmother would have lovingly prepared years ago. They were comforting, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The spicy cod stew, grilled mackerel and a spicy squid stone pot bibimbap were outstanding. Especially the cod was so fresh and thick that I found myself wondering, "Is this really cod?" The flaky white fish was incredibly tender, the shrimp, and other ingredients just as fresh. The spicy squid pot bibimbap was perhaps the best of all! I jokingly asked if they had a reservoir hidden behind the restaurant because everything tasted like it had just been caught that morning! Of course, great food is the most important thing, but I truly believe the warm smiles from the staff and the spotless dining environment made the meal even more enjoyable. KBBQ is one of those rare places where excellent food and genuine hospitality come together. It feels less like a restaurant and more like visiting your grandmother's house for a wonderful home-cooked meal. I'll definitely be coming back more often in the future. This is located in the same strip mall as Ramen House Shinchan. Plenty of parking. When we walked in, there were a lot more Koreans eating there than Americans, so you know it's legit. The staff was mostly older Korean ladies that were very helpful and kind. The younger girl working there, gives you great service. Each table against the wall has a button that you can call for service. Prices weren't bad, they're about the same as other Korean places. We ordered popcorn dumplings, Korean steamed egg, beef bulgogi, LA galbi marinated, and soft tofu soup with galbi meat. If you pay cash, you get free ice cream. Also, the banchan is unlimited and you also get Korean stew with the bbq. Popcorn dumplings were nice and crispy. It's also moist and succulent inside when you bite into it. The steamed egg was delicious. The bbq meat was great. I liked that there was more meat than bone for the galbi. I recommend getting the tofu soup with galbi meat. The soup is savory and the galbi meat is very tender. This will be my new go to. read more

Had a taste for Cold noodles, it was delicious! Me and my friends were very satisfied

we went here for my 70th birthday a few years ago and we had two big tables of maybe 25 people. No one except myself and my husband knew how or what to order and I told them no problem and they accommodated my guests beautifully and we've been there so many times since that it feels like a neighborhood restaurant for us and we grew up in the city and that's the kind of thing we love. Then there's the times when I'm craving their seafood pancake. It is a light batter pancake with lots of green onions, seafood, and it's delicious. Their grilling meats and pork are high-quality and their sides are all wonderful, especially the kimchi. It's just like I like it. Writing this review makes me want to go there this weekend. Hadn't been here in a while but it's still good. I actually really appreciate the banchan they give because it's not all spicy--most places have spicy odeng these days, which our kids don't like, so they were happy to have it mild for a change. What we got: Mul naengmyun (cold noodle soup) - Hit the spot on a hot day. Noodles were chewy, broth was already seasoned enough that I didn't need the extra vinegar or mustard provided. Japchae - Surprisingly good! Super flavorful, the noodles were great and I don't usually like shiitake mushrooms but I didn't hate them in this one! Galbitang - This one was a little disappointing. It was fine, but we've had it in the past and it was consistently tasty. The broth used to be more garlicky (a good thing that kind of made it unique to this restaurant) and the meat used to be high quality and tender. This time the broth was fine, and the meat was pretty grisly and a bit tough. Not great...made us wonder if they changed chefs/hands? Or maybe it was just an off day... One thing: we ordered to go and we wish they hadn't put the cold noodle soup broth right next to the steaming hot galbitang broth...just wasn't very well thought out when packing. We decided to have family night and asked the boys where they wanted to go and K-BBQ was the choice. We arrived at a a great time as we were seated immediately. The tables and grill were very clean. The exhaust works well as the dining area is not smokey. I already knew what I wanted to order. We ordered: Tteok-bokki, Japchae, and Corn Cheese for appetizers. The boys ordered Japanese Wagyu and Pork Belly to share. The Japchae was really good, I love the taste of toasted sesame oil. The veggies were cooked just right. The Tteok-bokki had cheese which was different and it was spicy which I like! The Corn Cheese was creamy and gooey. The corn was crisp, It was my first time trying and I will order it again! The boys really liked the pork belly and pairing it with the rice was good! The star of the show was rhe Japanese Wagyu! The boys cooked it at the right temperature. The Wagyu literally melted in your mouth!!! It was delicious.. The owner Chris greeted us and asked how everything was which was very nice. Shortly after we got Beef Paste Soup that had tofu. Dont judge here for the simple name. This spot is a great small Kbbq Al La Carte spot to go to! Went here an hour before closing. The service is super lovely and they help grill your meat if needed. Some people may be hesitant to go to KBBQ spots that aren't AYCE, but don't shy away from this spot because of that because the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food that you get here. You'll definitely walk out of here very full for a modest spend and be glad that you made a trip here. The restaurant itself is unassuming, hidden with a plain looking sign from the outside and and alright amount of parking. When you first walk in, you probably don't assume much as the setup looks efficient with a bunch of tables lined in orderly fashion with efficient exhaust fans. When you start getting the food and seeing the brilliant marbling on the meat you realize that you're in for a special treat. Even before then, the banchan here is better quality than average. The veggies are fresh and the flavor is great, particularly on the kimchee. These are all presented very nicely, though it's unnecessary for the amount of food that you get. For the table, we ordered a combination beef to try all the different meats available -- rib eye, brisket, boneless galbi, and outside skirt steak. It was difficult to choose a favorite only because all cuts were delicious, and this was presented on a beautifully arranged plate with the server helping us to cook. We also tried the spicy pork bulgogi which had a mild kick to it, but was as delicious as all the great options available at other KBBQ places nearby. If I had to order again though, I'd definitely give the berkshire pork a try. Overall, a must visit spot in the suburbs if you enjoy Korean BBQ. The flavors and textures shined from beginning to end starting with the banchan and in every meat I tried. If you're going to opt for premium cuts, you can definitely enjoy them here at a very reasonable price. read more

KBBQ has some great Korean barbecue options, but unfortunately no all you can eat options. The menu was big. We ordered the combo beef plate and spicy pork. Unlike most Korean barbecue restaurants, the servers here cook and plate your food for you. The cuts of meat we were served were excellent and tasted great, real high quality. We came here the Thursday before Valentine's Day. This restaurant is close to our house We ordered japchae, bulgogi and kimchi fried rice and got side dishes and soup as well. It was a lot of for the two of us so we will enjoy the leftovers and not cooking! My favorite was the japchae. We will be back to try out the short rib! What a great dining experiencing. This little unassuming restaurant in a stip mall is spectacular. We shared the combination meat platter. The beef is grade A+++. This was our first time here so the owner and his staff of lovely ladies showed us and helped us cook the meat on our own hibachi stove inset into the table. The bean paste dip was excellent. The meal came with chili bok choy, kimchi, fish flats, rice, and my favorite radish with jalapeño slices. We had a wonderful time and a tasty meal. My friend and I hadn't had kbbq in awhile. We avoided the AYCE as it's pretty iffy on quality and not necessarily what we are used when he lived in the DC area. As a traditionalist the service was attentive, the hood vents were welcome, the banchan was very good, the meats were delicious. By traditional I mean they offered the traditional "dips" for pork belly and the beef brisket we ordered along with a variation of lettuce wraps. They also provided the daengjang soup as part of the service which was really good. We also ordered 2 steamed egg dishes to go along with our meal. $100 for 2 people was is about standard with a traditional kbbq experience that felt like old times when we were in the DC area. *this place is not for AYCE as the meat quality differs and the "accoutrements" are more traditional than an AYCE read more

First time going there and I was disappointed. We got the most expensive thing on the menu. I ordered a beer and the waitress knocked it over, there was less than half left. I thought she'd go get another one after she got through cleaning up the floor in the table. That didn't happen. So I thought she credit me the cost of the beer which wasn't cheap. Nice cuts of beef, recommend the thinnest sliced cuts for quick cooking and tenderness. Minimum of 2 entree trays is acceptable and filling for 3 people. Any more and i would have doubts about being able to finish the order. It gets crowded fast being so small and all things K seemingly being so on trend rn... but its super convenient compared with all the places in Schaumburg. Very good LA Kalbi at this restaurant. It's got a nice marinade and tender meat. The spicy pork and thin sliced pork belly were ok but pretty close in price to kalbi so I'd probably rather just spend the extra for that next time. The side dishes and dipping sauces were on par, and the service for the most part was pretty good. One thing I wish they did was just use a traditional grill mat or something of the sort since they used like a parchment paper or something that seemed a little flimsy. Also, the grill didn't seem to cook evenly at the edges of the surface so meat finished at pretty different rates. I'd come back for kalbi alone though. read more

Kbbq might be the best Korean bbq I've had. The ladies who work there are actually so friendly, nice, and helpful. They use a piece of wax paper on the grill, which I found to be truly genius. It makes cleanup so quick and easy! They also have the smoke sucker pipe thing lol, this is the first time I didn't stink of meat and smoke after eating kbbq. A solid Korean BBQ restaurant. The restaurant is clean, organized, and not smoky at all. The lack of smoke is likely due to the type of ventilation fan they have (see picture). I do appreciate this so that I don't smell like BBQ after dinner. The staff was welcoming and attentive. I love that there's a button on the table for you to call the staff should you have any request. The meat quality was good, and the portion was just about right. Since there's only two of us, we have left over to take home. This was my first Korean BBQ with induction cooktop. Personally, I prefer the gas cooktop or charcoal grill, which gives more flavor to the meat. Other than that, I would recommend trying out this restaurant! read more

Wow I'm actually impressed with a suburban chicago korean restaurant! My family has been anticipating the opening of this place for a while, and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meat, array of banchan, and taste of the other soups we've gotten for takeout. The bbq experience here is great- the meat is deliciously marinated and of good quality. The side dishes are plentiful and fresh. The service is standard with korean restaurants- quick and to the point. We had the non-marinated and marinated galbi- both amazing. I've also had some of their soups for takeout- the spicy beef soup and galbi soup. Both were delicious as well! My husband and I are visiting from the east coast, but after days of different cuisines we wanted a Korean spot to go to. Our friends took us to this korean bbq spot, and it was great! We were seated pretty much immediately even though it was dinner time, and the service was quick. We ordered various cuts of meat and the side dishes as well as food came out quickly. The chadolbaegi was probably the most tender I have ever had, and was delicious. The cuts of meat were high quality, cooked well, and tasted great. One of my favorites - Yukhoe, raw beef, with the raw egg yolk... was amazing. The seasoning was perfect and the meat was very fresh, and to top it off the portion size was great. At the end of the meal, we ordered kimchii fried rice - they cooked that directly on top of the grill to finish everything off, and that was also soo good. By the end, we were stuffed up to our necks. Definitely a great experience and would go again next time we are in town!!
