Hired them to clean the house we just bought since the sellers apparently did not clean for 20 years. The lady who came to look and do a walk through said of yeah we will clean this and make sure we get that. I thought great nice to not have to worry about it. Let me state clearly that I will not be hiring this company again. I found them through Angie's list and hired them due to many positive reviews. I am very disappointed as I was looking to have a good firm in on a weekly basis. I am giving them 2 stars because the girls worked their butts off with the crappy equipment and cleaning products they had. I hired them through Angie''s list. I felt there were only 1-2 experienced cleaners in the crew, because the one in charge of the basement missed an ENTIRE bathroom and there was broken glass on the floor under my minifridge cart and dirt that I cleaned up with some scrubbing bubbles. I had to redo parts of the basement myself. I was told by Ms. Silva (The lady doing the quote and the walk through) that they would be using quality, petsafe products and good equipment. The girls arrived with dollar store generic cleaning products and a vac that looks like something someone pick up off the curb. It gave them so much aggro. They had to stop to keep fixing it and sharing it. I have a state of the art Shark. They could have used that. I had to redo the carpets and shampoo them to get off loads more fur and dirt that the shoddy equipment left behind. So therefore the products were not quality and certainly were not pet safe. Another thing that annoyed me was the already low quality cleaning products were frozen from having been left in someone's car. I saw a frozen bottle of lysol with a glacier sitting in it and this was from 1-4PM. They had a job prior to me, so it had been out of the car for some time and was still frozen. Seriously it is no surprise my house smelled worse when they left than it did when they started. The owner came unannounced and just let herself right in. That really was cheeky and pissed me off. Then she had the nerve to say she confused me for one of the girls and had this attitude that came off as if I was beneath her. She evidently was there to check on the work the girls were doing and was taking a white dust cloth to my bed and furniture. She reeked of fags and after she left, I had to spray my house with air freshener and open the windows to get the smell of smoke out . Another thing that pissed me off was that she was on to one of the girls about cleaning bigger houses than this one and yadda yadda like this house was beneath her. Well guess what lady, it is now, because you lost a potential long term client due to your self-entitlement and rude behavior on a client site. I paid $300 for 3 girls for 3 hours. The house looks clean, but I think it would have smelled better if they used quality products vs. generic store brand ones like that horrid watered down Works toilet bowl cleaner and generic frozen lysol. The highest quality product they had was a small bottle of Dawn washing up liquid. read more

Choice 1 Cleaning Only choose this cleaning service if you will not be home while they clean. I found this services on Angies List and I would have to say, beware! They portended to want to know any areas that has not been covered to cover better the next time. After only coming to my house 5 times they sent me an e-mail saying they would not be back and that they normally only clean places where there is no one home. There was one young girl who only spoke Spanish by the name of Lexi who was a very bad cleaner each time she came. Lexi had been here before and done a subpar job on the bathroom and upon arriving at the last cleaning here proceeded to spray Pledge on the leather of the leather and wood chair. I cleaned it up and suggested to Jamie, the team leader, that it may not make sense for Lexi to return. Later in the hour I found various puddles of dust in the places that Lexi had theoretically cleaned in my bedroom, pointed them out to Jamie and cleaned them myself. At the end of the cleaning day Jamie told me that the staff of Choice 1 Cleaning are trained to clean around objects not lift them up for cleaning unless client specifically gives the OK. I gave Jamie and the company the OK to pick things up for cleaning in the future and she said she would put that in the records. After only 5 cleanings with different teams each time, I was under the impression we were still in the stage of getting clear on particulars. The teams that come to your house change all the time and each team that has been here has taken my print out of cleaning products and procedures back with them each time telling me that it goes in some kind of book for others to refer to yet each time I am printing it out again. Yet, each time a team arrives they seem to know nothing and I print out the sheet again and go over the specifics. We use only "green" predicts for cleaning. Later that day I received an e-mail saying "another company might be better suited to me". When I then called Choice 1 Cleaning they were shocked that Jamie, the team leader, had told me they are trained to only clean around things. read more

I used Choice 1 for about six months. First the good. They saved me in a lurch. I had a new baby, a large house and unexpected houseguests on the way. Another company cancelled on me the day of and Choice 1 came through. They charged me an arm and a leg, but they were able to fit me in. Overall it was a good experience except for the fact that I paid for a certain number of hours. They said they could not clean my entire house in that time. But then they finished like 45 minutes early and were ready to bail until I called them on it and they did some extra work. The bad - in terms of the regular cleanings, it was okay. The results were often spotty and it was annoying given that I was paying A LOT of money. The final straw came after they broke something and didn't tell me, got caught smoking in my driveway and were improperly cleaning my shower so as to allow mold growth. read more

I hired this company to clean my house prior to my family moving in. I met with Nancy beforehand to go over everything I wanted done. She assured me it would be all be taken care of, charging a pretty penny as well. I came back the day after the cleaning and noticed the following: the hardwood floors were extremely dull, the windows were very streaky and they did not clean around the windows at all, the bathtub doors were not even touched and still had soap scum/mildew/grime from the previous owner, the bathroom sink drain was still disgusting. It basically looked like they did not clean anything! I called to complain and was told a team could come out again the following day. They arrived 2 hours late and did fix some of the problems but I still feel the need to reclean everything. Overall I would NOT recommend this company to anyone and wish I had gone with someone else. read more

I have had a horrible experience with this company. Every week people I've never seen before show up to clean my house because their staff turn-over is so high. The last straw was when some valuable pieces of jewelry went missing from my bedroom and that of my daughter. Of course the company denied it was their cleaners who took them. I was told I must have "misplaced" my jewelry. How convenient! I was told they do background checks on their workers but I have my doubts after this. Seems like they pull whomever they can find off the streets willing to work for minimum wage. After this experience I will never allow Choice 1 Cleaning into my home again! read more

Like all the other reviewers here, I too fell for the good reviews on Angie's list and hired them to do our "move in" cleaning. Big mistake and a complete waste of $300 that we could have certainly used towards something else useful. The only reason I even gave 2 stars is because whoever cleaned the upstairs bathrooms did a great job but the rest of the house was not clean at all. I had to go through and redo all the cleaning myself. The whole point of paying that money to have it done was so that i WOULD NOT have to do it myself and I ended having to anyway. All of the vents were supposed to be done but half of them were still filthy. The hardwood floors were supposed to be cleaned and washed and from the amount of dirt I found there is NO WAY they cleaned the floors. All of the spots they said they couldn't get off, I took a small amount of mean green and it came right off with one wipe. For the amount of money we paid I expected way more. Unfortunately because of this experience I will not hire them back and I will definitely not recommend them to anyone I know. read more

After speaking with one of their house cleaners I wanted everyone to know that this company is misleading its clients. They are hiring everyone as independent contractors not covered by workman's comp insurance while telling clients that they are fully insured employees of the company. This is completely deceitful and if one of these workers gets hurt in a home it puts the homeowner at risk of being sued. They have a workman's comp policy in place but it's just "for show" since independent contractors are not covered. This is a sneaky way of having a workman's comp policy in place to trick prospective clients into believing that they are "fully insured". They are paying pennies on the dollar for an insurance premium that other cleaning companies are paying tens of thousands of dollars for because none of Choice 1 Cleaning's workers are actually listed on this policy. Skip Choice 1 Cleaning and hire another maid service that has the integrity Choice 1 Cleaning lacks. One that has staff that are actually on the books, are fully insured and not independent contractors. If you wanted the risk of hiring an independent maid you could hire one off of Craigslist and save yourself at least half what Choice 1 Cleaning is charging. read more
