My elderly mother is a resident of St. Louis Park and was confronted with a serious land dipping which lead to terribly large sink hole, unleveled landscaping, improper relief and consequential water drainage issues. This issue happened over the past 20 years. I had stepped into help mom find a contractor to fix the issues. We solicited 4 different bids and wound up choosing these folks. Rupert's bid was not the lowest one in the group. They were in the middle. But the owner Jake impressed me so much with his candor and attentiveness to what we wanted done that he was impossible to overlook. We were also clearly not a big money-making gig for Rupert's. They do mostly paver patio work and stylish retaining walls. But our issue was something Jake said they could address and they were able to squeeze us into an already tight schedule. Jake arrived with a small crew of 3 and finished the job in the amount of time he said the job would take. He used all of the materials and had no remnant soil. He actually saved us some money on the delivery fees by consolidating land materials into one type. Most important, they fixed the issue in my mom's backyard and left our property without any mess. Through it all we were made to feel just as important as any larger account. I have posted a few before and after pictures. If you can get on their calendar, I would recommend Rupert's Landscaping. I called to inquire if this company worked with areas of a yard where pavers had shifted over many years and were becoming hazardous to walk on. A third company had over reacted by my needs and kept stopping by when I was not home. Rupert's returned my call, we set up a specific meeting time and the owner Jake came to see the area that needed to be repaired. He suggested different ideas that I might consider and assured me that he could re-use the existing pavers, a significant cost savings for me! Jake and his team of 3 total men would remove the patio and walkway of pavers, reinforce "no shifting" with a border around the whole project, followed up by sweeping with a poly sand to keep pavers in place and weeds out. His team arrived as planned, began to work immediately and explained the steps they would be taking. Throughout the day they were diligent in their work and very knowledgeable of how to complete the task safely and efficiently. The project was completed in one day thanks to the heart and soul of these three individuals. Jake suggested my using a dark shade of mulch that would make the patio and walkway stand out....great idea as I have already had three neighbors ask for his company phone number. This is the second time I hired Northland Fence, this time for a 6 ft privacy vinyl fence. The…read morecompany offered an incredible special for early birds, which allowed us to make a huge fence. The project cost $15,000. The fence runs around our 3/4 acre, encompassing much of the property. PLAN Maria created a beautiful plan based on information provided online for our property (as well as on her private portal). This enabled us to get the project off the ground before I even purchased the house. We scheduled the first install date one day after my house closing. THE INSTALL The installation is done in three stages. I hired a surveyor to mark the property lines. Northland fence ordered the public utilities to be marked out, and I chose to hire Zone One to mark my irrigation and septic (which turned out to be very useful). Next, a full day was spent installing the posts (the day after I purchased the house). Aaron was the leader of a crew of two, and he and I reviewed the placement of the posts in relation to the original plan. We tweaked the plan, and Aaron was helpful, respectful and very patient as I revised things on the ground during the day. Thank you for that! We were able to respect our neighbor's privacy and increase the gate size to accommodate my UTV for snow-ploughing in winter. FINAL INSTALL The final installation was scheduled for 30 days after the post install, but Northland Fence were able to accommodate us early and install a week after. That was an incredible surprise, and our dogs were delighted! A crew of three arrived: Jesse, Chuck and Bobby, and the guys worked from around 9:00am to 5:00pm to install our huge fence. They began without disturbing me, as I was working. When I came out, they updated me that the fence will be completed in a day. They were quiet and respectful of the neighbors, parking on the side of the property. They did a walk around the fence several times during install to ensure that everything was done right, with a final walk-through the next morning when they came to finish off one small part. This gave me time to do a walk-through also. I didn't find anything wrong. The fence was perfect. DESIGN I'll add that I chose a two tone design, at no extra cost. It turned out gorgeous! WARRANTY 10 year warranty from Northland Fence, and they recommend that we contact them with any questions or problems before we check with our home owner's insurance, should any problem arise. RECOMMENDED.

Just be sure to read and understand the contract before signing. We didn't, and that's on us. The contract stated 2 to 4 week completion for our fence. In our case, Northland came out on Dec 10th and removed our old fencing, set some of the new posts, then left by noon. They returned on Dec 26th to finish the remaining posts. They returned on Jan 6th and installed the fence. All of the crews were polite and respectful. Our project was completed 3 weeks and 6 days after they began. Our problem was that our dog couldn't use the yard and the deer - the reason that we needed the fence - invaded and ate our new $$$ landscaping. There's a reason that a competitor advertises that they use the same crew for the entire process, and get it done in a day or two. If we could go back, we'd have made a different choice.
