We had an unforgettable dinner at our local Chop House that seriously delivered. I went with a New York Strip, cooked to a perfect medium rare -- tender, juicy, and packed with flavor in every bite. It was easily one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. On the side, I had a crème brûlée sweet potato that was absolutely incredible -- velvety smooth with a caramelized top that gave it just the right touch of sweetness and crunch. They also make their own steak sauce that is absolutely to die for amazing! He went for the infamous Chop House Burger, stacked high with thick-cut bacon and a perfectly fried egg. Every time I'm in north Florida I try to make a stop at Chop House because it is superb. Definitely start with the fried goat cheese - it's killer! Filet mignon was velvety soft and plenty flavorful. The smashed potatoes were my favorite side. They had slightly melted Brie and tasted great. Their cheesecake special was a "Milky Way" style, which was very rich and good! It's definitely unique in its appearance and taste. Plenty large for 2. As always, their service is excellent with personal touches and overall genuinely caring for the guests. Hit an early Valentine's Day dinner and was not disappointed. The design and feeling of the restaurant is excellent from the seating, to the art on the walls. We started with the fish dip and were not disappointed. I wish the pickle jar had a little more variety aside from Broccoli and onions, but it was still delicious. For dinner, I had the ribeye, and while it is over $50, I did not regret my decision. The steak was cooked to perfection and was well seasoned. I e eaten great steaks all over the country, and I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. The mashed potato cake was another star of the show, and was a fantastic addition to the meal. I absolutely loved my meal. For dessert we finished with the chocolate chip bread pudding and it was fantastic. It was a heavy dessert, but it tasted delicious. Finally, the drinks. On Saturday, we had dinner/drinks at the Chop house. Everything was top notch. We were a group of six; w/o a reservation. Even tho, we broke a "cardinal" rule(lge group w/o reservation). Ryan did an excellent job managing, accommodating us, and keeping everything flowing. John, the bartender & our server, did a FANTASTIC job w the drinks (excellent lemon drops) & superb personable service! All of the entrées were delicious. We visited Thomasville, GA for a weekend get away and opted for a nice steak dinner on Saturday. We did make reservations- which we weren't able to do online and had to call; where they did ask for a credit card to hold the reservation and should we not be able to make it would be charged. (Just passing along). Our reservation was for 7:30pm and we got seated around 7:50pm. Our server was very friendly and gave us drink and food recommendations. The entire experience was phenomenal, came here to celebrate new jobs and so glad we made a reservation through open table. We started off the evening ordering an anejo old fashioned and a prickly pear margarita. We absolutely enjoyed the drinks. As appetizers we had the Cesar salad and grits. The Cesar dressing was great, the croutons tasted of sweet cornmea, the bacon was so tasty and different to have an entire egg on top. The combination worked so well. I really enjoyed the grits I wanted to take an order home. Our ribeye steaks were cooked to perfection and all the sides we had were full of flavor. For sure in my top 3 steaks I've had here in the greater Tallahassee area. The sides we ordered the collard greens, smashed potatoes and the hopping john. All excellent. For the price point, wonderful service from Paul, and flavorful food, it was absolutely worth the drive from Tallahassee. We have been here several times, usually for a special occasion. Last night we went to celebrate two birthdays. The service left a lot to be desired. I inquired about balsamic dressing which I never got a reply to until being presented the check and I said well I guess you didn't have any dressing. I ordered the same thing I always get, duck three ways and it was not even near the quality it used to be. Very bland and just not up to expirations. We ordered a dozen oysters Rockefeller and to say they were small would be an overstatement. Just a disappointment dining experience over all. First time ever leaving a negative review. I worked in the restaurant industry 30+ years, so I'm usually very understanding. This was an experience that I have NEVER encountered. I made a reservation two weeks prior to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Had to hold reservation with a credit card, that was new to me. I understand putting a credit card for a holiday or special event. We had a 8:30 reservation, had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Ordered the onion rings appetizer and it was delicious. We waited and waited some more. Our server @ 9:45 came to our table and told us she forgot to put in our dinner order. We were upset, but appreciated her honesty. The meals finally arrived and it was obvious they were rushed in the kitchen. Our $50+ steaks were undercooked and not edible. Green beans tasted like they came from a can, lack of color, not like the normal bright greens from a fresh vegetable. We were seated at the first booth closest to the entrance. As I'm trying to eat my meal, next to me was a live cockroach crawling on the wall. The night couldn't have gotten any worse. The server and manager did both apologize and took off the drinks, appetizer and half of the dinners. BIG DEAL Our whole check should have been comped. Instead they also gave us drink tickets to return. They were left on the table. We will never return to this establishment. I have had better steaks and serve at Longhorns. read more

It is rare to go to a restaurant where everything you taste is fantastic. Chop House On The Bricks is one of the few places that truly delivers on every dish. We started with the onion ring appetizer, which was quite good, and the sauces that accompanied it were delicious as well. The steaks were fantastic - excellent flavor and cooked exactly as we requested. Normally, I find side dishes to be decent - the ones here were phenomenal! My favorite was probably the jalapeño sweet potatoes. I was worried they would be spicy, but they weren't. Even our beverages were worth bragging about. My husband got one of their beers and enjoyed it, and my sweet tea was sweet and delicious. I would give this place six stars if I could. We will definitely return! read more

Generally I go to Chop House to sit at the bar, order a few drinks and maybe an appetizer. I have dined in a handful of times as well and I have to say the service is excellent. Everyone has an extensive knowledge of both the food and drink menu. I've never asked something they didn't have the answer to and they're always very nice and welcoming. On top of that all of the food I have tried is delicious and I get something different every time. The chefs just don't miss and the bartenders create excellent drinks to pair with it. Coming from a former server myself and someone who's been in the industry for a long time, I'd give her a 10/10. The teamwork in this restaurant is impressive and ensures perfect service. We started off with the delicious pimiento cheese oysters and the squash and goat cheese soup. The oysters tasted delicious with the pimiento cheese it wasn't overpowering! Then we got the scallops! The scallops were seared perfectly! I wasn't the biggest fan of the peas that it came on, but that's just me! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sear was delicious! Our Brussels came out a little cold, but our server quickly fixed it! The last part of the dinner, the dessert, was probably my favorite! Had a reservation for 6:30. We arrived in time and were seated right away. This restaurant is so cute! As soon as we were seated we were greeted right away by our server Amy. She was so helpful letting us know the specials and made a wonderful drink recommendation! We ordered the scallops as a starter. They were perfectly seared and just melted in your mouth. We almost ordered another order! My husband and I shared the 12 Oz NY strip with potatoes and green beans. I could not stop eating the green beans, they were so good. The potatoes were addictive and the steak was cooked to perfectly with equally addictive steak sauce. We shared the chocolate bread pudding for dessert despite being so full. We had Tuna & Fried Rice & Lamb Chops & Onion Rings all delectable & tasty to our palates. Very Good Dessert: Strawberry Shortcake was tasty but could have been warmed, so cream oozed from it. Way too cold imo. Note to Restaurant: Many items were cooked in oil that oysters were fried in: fries & onion rings to name a couple. This is troublesome for anyone that has SHELLFISH ALLERGIES. There is no official dress code but I would say it is nicer than shorts and a t-shirt. A nice pair of jeans or khakis will do with a button up shirt. No need to wear a suit and would generalize it more like business casual. The pianist playing as we walked in just added to the overall ambiance. This is a place for those special events or dates in your life; a family meal or get together; a business dinner; or just a meal with friends. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked medium rare. The flavor and quality of meat was just right. The smashed potatoes and corn succotash just enhanced the flavors and experience. This restaurant intertwines high quality food products with local producers--farm to table. The onion ring appetizer is a perfect way to start off your dinner experience. The sauces are both unique and leave you wanting more. The dessert menu is a must have, so save room or just indulge in it. The cheesecake is good but the pecan pie and brookie cake are where it's at! Be warned though the brookie cake is rich and provides a strong powerful punch of energy--there is definitely sugar involved. Last, but not least--get reservations. Such a great place to grab dinner and drinks. We come for $1 oysters on Wednesdays and get the grilled and raw oysters. They are so good!! The staff is so great and are really attentive and nice. It's right downtown so it's great to come and walk around downtown before or after. They also have great cocktails, beer and wine lists.
