Dinner night in Thomasville, we decided on George and Louie's Seafood restaurant. It's reminiscent of the old order at the counter and service after pay, restaurants of my youth. I settled in for the fried shrimp, sweet potato fries and coleslaw, while Dawn had the Greek-shrimp salad. We were served quickly and the shrimp was fresh and cooked nicely. I like my fries just a little more crispy than what I received, but they weren't bad. The slaw was good, with just a hint of dill in the mix. Dawn absolutely loved her salad, it was seasoned just right according to her. Everyone was friendly, the waitress made sure we were okay, and the ambience was good. In town on business. Based on Yelp reviews for burgers, I gave it a try. Atmosphere: clean and bright, plenty of outdoor seating. Staff: friendly and accommodating. Food: I ordered the blue cheese burger, tots, and an ice tea. With tax, $18.33 The burger was very tasty, but it's barely bigger than a slider. The photo I took shows a normal tot in relation to the burger. Tots: cooked right and a good portion. Tipping: optional, and I'm still not sold on tipping for counter service. But here, they do bring it to your table. The issue is the credit card screen; you have 4 options: 20%, 25%, 30%, and "no tip". As I didn't have the option to choose less than 20%, I chose no tip. (Did cash tip the server though) Food good. Service good, value and portion not so much. read more

On Friday I called George and Louie's to ask if they take reservations for Saturday night. Kelcy, the front Manager answered and delightfully said that reservations were not necessary. I told her we would be bringing our dog and she told me not to tell her what kind It was. She wanted to figure it out when we showed up to order by recognizing my voice. Fun. The minute she saw August walk by, she figured it out. Kelly was just as friendly and engaging in person as she was on the phone. George and Louie's is a casual restaurant with the best food. The menu is posted on 5 (or 6?) blackboards hanging on the wall behind the counter. You walk in and place your order, then they bring your order to your table. Friendly ambience abounds. George himself came right over and stood before us smiling. Other patrons stopped to greet August the rock star, and also say hi to me and my wife. The seafood was excellent, fresh and tasty. I had the combo of shrimp, scallops and fish. My wife had a fried green tomato Greek salad. If we ever get back to Thomasville, I will be sure to come back to visit our new friends. read more

Always a great spot if you like variety. Their Greek salad is to die for, as is their fried green tomatoes (dare I say the best in Thomasville?) Absolutely friendly family owned business. Everyone was so nice and caring. I arrived two minutes before closing but my ordered was placed in advance via phone. It's Thomasville, restaurants shut around 8-9pm on Saturday. They thought I was coming in to dine and the owner told me he was so sorry but they closed the kitchen. I was offered free drinks for a slight misunderstanding. I ordered the greek salad with fried chicken because it is advertised outside as best greek salad. I must say my greek salad was delicious. I cant wait to return here and try other food menu options. Again, the hospitality here is amazing and I was high satisfied with my greek salad. I'm a big fan of Greek salads and I've had them everywhere including the famous in Tarpon Springs and is by far the worst Greek salad I've ever had in my entire life. It doesn't even resemble a Greek salad and for the restaurant to say that a famous salad oh my gosh.!!! read more

Very expensive for a place with the menu on the wall. Tipping is VERY irritating as you stand at a counter to order and then take your seat. NO custom tip allowed! MINIMUM tip is 20%!!!!! Remember, you order at counter. Menu is on the wall. Cute place, friendly people. $10 cheesecake , $7 baby Greek salad ~ No, not worth it. Individual fried shrimp are $2.50 each, whatever. $16 Grouper sandwich ~ Worth it! 20% tip or nothing (or 25 or 30% are options, but not custom tip, as you are standing up) Service is not fast, but friendly. Such lovely casual dining! I am sorry to say that the exterior of George and Louie's restaurant in Thomasville, always gave me the impression it was a fine dining establishment. We are very casual people and don't dress up for dinner when driving a distance to enjoy a restaurant. I wish we had tried this restaurant sooner. This spot is casual and you'll see folks wearing everything from jeans to shorts. It is just good cooking with a lovely and friendly atmosphere. This review covers two lunches in the span of two months. The restaurant is counter service and they'll bring your meal to the table. Prices as of February 2025 range from $10 - $27. There is ample seating inside as well as some garden style dining tables outside. Enjoy those while the humidity is low. As you enter, the menu is available on large chalkboards over the ordering counter. This restaurant is known for their Greek salads, but try some seafood! They offer grilled and fried options, as well as chicken and burgers. There are plenty of sandwiches, po-boys, salads and entrees to choose from. The restaurant also had a shelved display of locally-made Orchard Pond products, including honey, olive tapenade, chimichurri, granola, olives, and beef jerky. All the Orchard Pond products make lovely housewarming gifts, individually or in a gift basket. I'm not sure what the connection is between the restaurant, but nice to know they have these offerings. Over our two visits we sampled the Big Louie Burger special, which was plenty filling! The burger was cooked as ordered and came with fries and a small Greek salad. We also tried the Grilled Seafood Combo platter, which was enough for two people and we brought home half for lunch the next day. This entree included two side items (fries and cole slaw), and hush puppies, an unspecified fish fillet, shrimp and scallops. Filling and so good. We also sampled the gyro platter, which came with fries and had plenty of Tzatziki sauce to share with the fries. The large Greek salad is also filling and it's served with sizable pieces of sardines, which my dining companion enjoyed. Counter service is swift and friendly. They also checked back during the meal and refilled drinks, as well as bringing to go boxes when we couldn't finish our meal. We were pleasantly surprised and pleased that the service doesn't come to an abrupt end when the meal is served, which can be the case at counter service restaurants. If you're making Thomasville a day destination, try George & Louie's for lunch. It's bright restaurant that will provide you with a filling meal and a place to relax! read more

My adult daughter and I shared the special which was grilled shrimp and fish with Greek salad and grilled asparagus and ordered fried green tomatoes. The shrimp and fish, we upgraded to grouper, were fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked. So, so good! The salad was dressed lightly and was not too tangy for a Greek salad, it was a good portion with lots of tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were tangy, not my favorite, but let's face it green tomatoes are tangy and the batter was not thick and had a good crisp to it. All the staff were so friendly and efficient and the owner stopped by to see how we liked our choices and asked if we needed drink refills. Excellent food and excellent service! read more

Took a drive to Thomasville with one of my girlfriends to grab lunch. This place is so cute! George was actually handing drinks to customers. I ended up ordering a fried chicken sandwich with sweet potatoe fries and cheese grits, it took a while for them to bring it out. But the line they quickly were able to take orders and constantly saw food coming out the kitchen. They also quickly bused tables as well which I appreciate formerly working in food service. The lemonade was okay. My friend she had the lamb gyro it was good. She really liked the cocktail sauce. If you're in town the food is good I'd stick to the Greek and seafood items on the menu. Last time I ripped these guys were having too high of prices, but then I looked around everybody's raising them so I came back to Georgia and Louise today the food was phenomenal. I live in Tallahassee and it was well worth the trip. The restaurant is always clean, neat and orderly and the staff is always friendly and attentive and helpful. Phenomenal quality seafood! Great french music ambiance that plays throughout their cozy interior/exterior sitting areas. When I'm here I'm transported out of thomasville and in France Seine River. Today I ordered their special Mahi and shrimp with grits, asparagus, and tots. The service is extremely friendly and fast! They are well oiled machine here. Food is also a vehicle for condiments. I am the condiment queen and my god...God... home made blue cheese is not your standard. I hate blue cheese an never have it. The white sauce that comes with asparagus is actually home made blue cheese..it has a tint of garlicky savory.. I had no strong blue cheese flavor. Tartar sauce is thick and well made as well!..I'm actually tearing up from gratitude how great I feel I dine here. Never teared up from food They do also have some selection of beer and wine. The service from the older gentleman (I believe the owner) was second to none. He is very attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic.

A charming restaurant, with porch doors on all three sides of the large dining area, with the kitchen and service station against the fourth wall. The restaurant has both tables as well as booths. My friend and I ordered the Greek salad, hers with grilled chicken on top. The salads were very fresh and delicious, with a generous portion of olives and cheese. Plus, Louie was there in the restaurant and came over to speak with us, telling us his history and the family's history of coming over from Greece and starting restaurants here. My wife and I were visiting Thomasville Georgia for a wedding, and we stopped at George and Louie's for lunch and it was the best. The atmosphere was great. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious their sweet potato fries with their sauce was to die for. It was highly recommended by the server and I would highly recommend them. George & Louie's is a popular lunch & dinner spot in Thomasville. It's bright, cheery and clean. The service is top notch. To order, you approach the main counter and figure out your order from a huge wallboard. We had a group of 6. Two ordered the burger platter, which came with a small Greek Salad and a good sized order of tater tots. My wife ordered a Greek Salad. I had a fish sandwich and the kids had a hamburger and a chili dog with tots. The burger platter was good. A decent burger, large serving of tots and the side salad. Drinks are refillable and the server came by several times to see if we needed refills. The chili dog was a disaster. The chili was so over-seasoned it was inedible. The Greek Salad was 40% Lettuce, 50% onions and 10% cucumber, tomato, and feta. Way overboard on the onions; I think I'd skip the onions on the next salad. The fish sandwich had a large serving of Mahi Mahi or grouper. It can be served on whole grain or regular bun. I didn't even notice tartar sauce on the sandwich, so it was a bit in the dry side. So, I've tasted better chili dogs, and I've had better Greek salads. None who claim to be world famous. But there's a rural charm vibe that George & Louie's offers. The food here is delicious! I got the burger with a side salad and it was delicious! It was seasoned so perfectly. Everything is freshly made and the prices are reasonable. This place reminds me of the beach. It has lots of natural lighting and very calm environment. The outside is adorable. With big umbrellas, it's a nice place to sit on a beautiful day. The owner himself was walking around checking on tables and we had a nice little quick chat with him. Fantastic fried food! Ordered the fried green tomatoes, oyster poboy, Greek salad, and a side of cheese grits. The fried green tomatoes had just the right amount of batter so the tomatoes were not overwhelmed by the batter. Extremely crispy and the tomato was fresh and crisp. The oyster poboy was packed full of perfectly fried oysters! Oh my goodness... just perfection. I loved the briney taste of the oyster paired with the cool lettuce and chewy bread. Perfectly balanced. Don't get me started on the cheese grits... amazing. Creamy and delicious. Haven't had some good ones like that in a while. read more

Every single trip I make to Thomasville THIS is on my meal plan! I love the personal connection the staff makes.

So sad. G&L used to be so good. I grew up eating here and have very fond memories of the Greek salad and seafood. However, now the food is less than appealing; the salad has no flavor, the seafood was either over seasoned or tasteless. The grits were lumpy and barely warm. I ordered the Seafood Combo special which was missing the oysters and deviled crab. When I asked about it I was told I should have asked for fried if I wanted the oysters and crab. The menu did not note that the grilled platter wouldn't have these two items and the cashier didn't communicate that. Why would I pay the same price for a meal that was missing 2/5ths of the seafood. When I said I'd like the meal as advertised on the menu the cashier said they were out of oysters and wanted to charge me for the crab. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

This restaurant gets a 100% from me! When you walk in, the staff makes you feel super welcomed. The establishment is all doors/windows and that alone is amazing even on a rainy day like today. You order your food and find a table. The menu is on a board. This establishment has beer and wine. The seafood is super fresh and cooked to perfection.
