I care about my community and this place cannot continue to exist if we intend on living happy lives. First day of new job haircut, I told my barber I wanted a trim, showed him pictures and whatnot. All of which were people with LONG hair. He leaves for a bit, comes back, and shaves the middle of my head. Out of instinct I got out the chair but it was too late. He offered to fade me up for free, and I was confused. Then I realized I had paid and tipped online beforehand, they would not refund me. They would not refund me after they had, without consent, cut off an appendage to my HEAD. I had a buzz cut for my first day at work and I was some weird buzz cut guy. Sometimes I think my life would have been different had I not been violated at the haircut store. It needs to be this dramatic. A place like this cannot exist in our community. read more

Impromptu Babershop visit. Called and the receptionist was able to squoze me in with an available barber. Picked Elijah for the cut. Asked for a Burst Fade on the sides, top was preferred length. Vibe: Felt like a proper barbershop like what I'm used to. Loyal to my barber in chicago and this gave the same feel. They offer you a drink while you wait, dealers choice. I had a whiskey, neat. Barber: Elijah was great, social. Relatable, great conversation while I was getting my haircut. Knowledgeable in hair, and gave me great insight into my hair texture and tips/tricks on how to keep it healthy. It pains me to have to update my review with a negative rating and don't get me wrong, they always do a great job in terms of the actual haircut. The issue I have is with their time management. They typically take about 45 mins to an hour to cut your hair. As someone as busy as I am, it's typically hard for me to find the time to come in to get a haircut. On top of that, they are usually always running late so before I even get my cut, I have to wait 15 mins so the barber can finish up the other client. They have had to call me twice about rescheduling me due to them being behind. This has not really effected me as I could reschedule but it is still an issue. Today I booked a haircut appointment on a Saturday at 10:15am thinking if I book early on a Saturday, I will be able to get a haircut even though my day was stacked. I was wrong. I came in right on time and the barber was washing the clients hair and spent about 7 minutes styling the guy. 15 minutes past my appointment while the barber was cleaning up, the guy came back in because I guess he was not happy with the cut and wanted it fixed. He was working on the guys hair when I basically had to cancel the appointment because I can't block off 2 hours to get a cut. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. read more

I've been coming since early 2016 and to watch Josh & JP grow their business is pretty damn cool. I used to be able to book same-day appointments with Josh and now I'll have to look out for openings a week in advance! To keep up with demand, they've hired two new barbers that I know will keep up the Chophouse standards. Show them a picture of the hairstyle you want, or even just verbalize the idea - they're good at working with you to achieve the look you want. The actual cutting is speedy but not rushed, and I'm always satisfied with the results. The mini-fridge stocked with beers and sodas as well as the hot facial towels are very nice touches. I've never tried the traditional shave or beard trim (surprise, I'm Asian) but Josh is one of the few people on this Earth I would trust with holding a knife at my neck. Best of all, they're sociable, lively, and friendly. This is the kind of place where you can really build a relationship with your stylist and they'll remember you. But if you're tired and don't want to make conversation, you can always just sit back and listen to Josh and JP trading jabs at each other, haha. Bookings are handled very efficiently through Vagaro, though you can also call or just come in as a walk-in. At $30 for the standard men's cut and $25 for students, it's definitely on the more affordable end of the "premium" barber shops in town, so give them a try! read more

After my failed attempt, I sought someone to salvage my effort. I found this place through Yelp and really liked the photos so we decided to give it a try. Nicholas has seriously had mostly bad experiences with haircuts! We walked in happy and walked out happy - I'm good with that! Jonathan literally listened to both of us on what we wanted - Nic is 12 so he has his own opinion about how he wants his hair. These boys know what they're doing. I walked in and felt like I knew these guys for a long time. Jose cut my hair and even though he mentioned that he was just starting out, he did an amazing job. He definitely has a knack for this. I could tell they were about their business, cause they were mentioning hair cutting techniques I never even thought about lol. Truly felt like they treated each haircut as a work of art. Jonathan was knowledgeable as well, helping Jose with a certain technique. The shop was very well maintained and clean. This place is deceptive. I booked and paid for a deluxe haircut and beard trim--1 hour and 15 minutes. The website does not say what the difference is between the different listings--only the time. I was in and out in 30 minutes. I am not complaining about the haircut--it was definitely at least very good. I feel I could have gotten what I received for half of what I paid. 30/75 = 40% of what I paid for. No one offered me a refund for what i was overcharged for. And you have to pay AND TIP! in advance. Will look for another barbershop where the business practices are more transparent. read more

Extremely disappointed with my haircut today. It started off well with Marcus ensuring me that he's cut hair for 6+ years, then ended poorly. He answered a phone call in the middle of my haircut and told the person he'd call them right back. Then he proceeded to rush through the rest of the cut and acted annoyed when I asked him to wash my hair because I was going back to work. He did a quick rinse without conditioner, then blow dried it and didn't even offer product to style it. Then I had to remind him to straight razor the neck, ears and hard part, but it seemed like he had never really learned how to use a straight razor. Now my neck and hairline look unfinished and parts on top are uneven. I expected much more for the price and will not be going back to this establishment. read more

I booked my appointment a week in advance, because a friend recommended Josh to me. I was unsure, because my friend couldn't tell me if he was good at beards, but she thought he probably was, as he has one. I went, it was hard to find, as there's no signage, until you get in the doors. I had to call, because you walk in doors that advertise a salon and past a salon check in. There's a little two room barber shop with a four stations. The main reason for the low score is that I had to have another barber fix my haircut and my beard. I knew the fade was off and not properly blended, but the beard was the real issue. One side was 1/8-1/4 of an inch higher than the other. The only thing that I thought was not done totally wrong was the top, which the barber that fixed my haircut assured me that was not even, either. The barber who fixed my haircut thought I got a $10 haircut from a student. Needless to say, I won't be back. It's kind of far out for me, and I am not risking another poorly done haircut. read more

This was my first time coming in. I came in because the reviews are off the charts! My appointment was with JP. Now get this: I mistakenly came in a day early. JP came out and greeted me (insanely friendly) and apologized for not showing the appointment on his end. That's when I realized that I made a mistake. He had a conflict so he couldn't take me and then introduced me to Tyson who is a complete rock star in my book. Before JP left, he kept apologizing for not being to take me as my appointment was actually the next day. I was the one who should have been apologizing, not him. Anyway, the vibe at the Chophouse is incredible! It is so obvious every barber there loves working there. The interaction between them all, the way they interacted with one another AND the customers was spectacular. And Tyson ... he is insanely friendly, meticulous and methodical in how he cuts hair. I can't believe I'm going on and on about a haircut, but let me say this ... I found my new place to get my haircut. And from what I could tell, every barber there is truly great at their craft! I will of course come back looking for Tyson, as he gave me the best haircut I've ever had. That said, I do want to have JP cut my hair at least once, as he appears to be the Maestro of the place, as I'm sure his business partner is too. Last comment is that I should mention that I actually live in Austin and come to Houston MAYBE once a month ... but after the experience I just had, rest assured that I would go out of my way to make the drive even if I didn't have plans to come to Houston once a month. This was overall not a bad experience, but not a good haircut either. I asked for a mid skin fade and not to touch the top, well, he touched the top. In the excessive "blending" manner that I see some barbers do and it always makes things look terrible. He didn't turn the chair around until the very end so I couldn't see what he had done, and I couldn't gather from the way he was cutting that he was taking so much off the top. I ended up with just a giant poof in the front, sides way too shaved down, and too much in the upper back as well. For 40$ I'm extremely dissapointed. I can't even style this to make this look better and that's saying something. Make sure you give explicit instructions, although I'm not very sure how much more explicit you can get than "I don't want anything off the top". In my top 2 worst hair cuts I've ever gotten. read more

I brought my boyfriend here because the place was highly recommended. Unfortunately he did not get JP or JC due to booking the appt a day prior. But we were recommended Jas, so we went with her. I must point out that we were about 5 minutes late. (We drove from Katy a 45 min drive for this place). Definitely NOT what he expected for a haircut. Jas, only did the fade. She did NOT touch the top and she did NOT do the line up. She also told my boyfriend that she didn't have time to do the beard line up because she had to adjust the fade from a 2 to a 1. (Which was ok) but NOT ok for not touching the rest of the hair. He left the place extremely disappointed. If you come here DO NOT GO WITH JAS. read more
