The Madina Halal Grill has expanded from a small hole in the wall, to two holes. LOL! It looks like the took over the area next door and connected them with a small doorway. What is great about this is that the initial room is great for placing your order, looking at the menu, chatting with the staff, paying, and waiting around for your food to come out. The next room over is great for finding a seat, relaxing, and eating without being jostled by people coming and going. Food was pretty good. I forgot to specify the bread wrap, so my sandwich was more like panini than a shawarma. My husband was less than enthralled. He wasn't a fan of the lamb mix, but that is to be expected as he didn't grow up with it and hasn't learned to acquire a taste for it. Staff are really friendly here. Food comes out quickly and remains hot on the way home.

This caught me off guard because the menu does not indicate it would be covered in sauce -- and we didnt want it sauced. Shrimp tempura had 3 shrimps and the rest vegetables. Another surprise because the menu listed shrimp tempura as an item on its own, and then another line item for vegetable tempura. My assumption is this is a cost saving approach -- and while I have no problem with that, transparency would be good for customers. Just list out what is included in the dish so no one is surprised. The ramen was disappointing. The broth came out clear (like water -- i wouldnt dare compare it to pho because pho broth is packed with flavor). There was absolutely no flavor. It was the only ramen on the menu that I could have (again not what I was told when I called). I asked for soy sauce, chili oil and even dumped the leftover sauce from my tempura into the liquid broth and still it could not be saved. The black garlic broth was also bland. Neither of us finished the meal. Service was slow, only one girl working the entire dining room, (it was a weekend so packed). We waited for a while, they forgot my milk tea and it was impossible to flag the waitress until the very end. The only plus, they are extremely generous with the eggs.

There is a large tv playing music videos in Arabic and the strong, fast beat fills the place making it more of a fun hangout for young people rather than a relaxing sit down meal for a family, but both were present. You order and pay from the counter. I took my food to go and ate at home. I just didn't feel like cooking. I got a combo meal that included a chicken shawarma, small fries, and a bottle of coca cola. You can get the shawarma wrapped in pita or the default which is a thinner crispier tortilla type wrap. The spits of chicken and beef are seen turning and burning. The chicken was crispy, but enjoyable. I forgot to ask for hot sauce, so I had to add some at home. They did include a small cup of a garlic mayonnaise type mix. I used it with my fries. The meal was satisfying. It's so much better than the Halal Guys. I wish I had tried some of their sides like tabbouleh. Next time!
