As I pulled up, I realized that the Thai and Japanese restaurants were next door, and with both rated highly, stood outside for a bit deciding on what I really wanted for dinner. I ended up settling with the Japanese, and was pleasantly surprised when I was given menus for both. This great establishment allows one to order off either menu, and the food for the neighboring restaurant is simply brought to your table. A girl I met used to work at Chopstix and recommended I try their food. I called in an order from the Japanese menu for a house salad, a Philly roll, and a spicy tuna roll. My order was ready within ten minutes and cost me about $16. The ginger dressing for the salad (literally just lettuce) was on point, as was the sushi. This place is weird. That's probably the best way to describe it. Literally there is maybe 1-2 cooks here during lunch rush and the husband and wife (owners) who are doing everything. The food is good, thankfully, so for a to-go order it's a good option. However, it takes forever for them to take your order and then get you your food. So I would recommend calling ahead of time and waiting 20 minutes before coming to pick it up. The bathrooms are FREEZING cold so hold it until you get back from your lunch break, lol. read more

The Hibachi Chicken and spring rolls were excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was great as well.

Great Thai, and exceptional service. Lunch specials include a spring roll and rice soup for around $7 bucks. I was out the door with meal tax and drinks for $18 bucks! So we decided to try this place based on the reviews, and let me just say: I live in the northwest, and I feel like I've had a fair amount of knowledge of Thai food. My family visits Chopstix regularly, since we use the handy excuse that it is within a frisbee toss of our church. Everything I have had is excellent, and even my moderately picky daughter has multiple dishes that she trusts. All of the stir-fried dishes are great, but my new favorite is the pad thai (noodles)--absolutely splendid. For kids I would recommend kei krob, which is similar to sweet and sour chicken but better. Lunch is the best deal, but dinner is still reasonable. Two other notes: the service is consistently friendly and timely, and the sweet tea is very sweet--so if you don't like it that way, you might want to ask for "half and half." read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! We were passing through and wanted some good Thai food and saw this place had a 4 star rating.... NO WAY. They sat us down in a booth and 15 minutes later we had to flag down someone to come take our drink order.. and then another 15 minutes later they brought out my husbands meal and forgot my basic chicken fried rice meal. So 2 minutes later they brought out a cold sad plate of fried rice. They had clearly burnt some rushing to heat it up and then dumped cold chicken on top. After that we never saw our waitress again. She did not apologize, I couldn't flag her down to take it back because she was nowhere to be seen. Very poor service and very nasty food. read more

They DO indeed sell sushi, but they're really known for Thai dishes such as red / green curry, Pud Thai and coconut milk soups. VERY good price point and for Statesville, NC, it's a pretty progressive, multi-cultural joint. Super nice staff. Generally quick service and close to courthouse. read more

My wife and I sometimes go through Statesville on the way to Charlotte. We keep hoping to find an Asian restaurant which is edible. Chopstix gets good reviews from Yelp! and Garman and other places, We ate on the "Thai" side of the restaurant. #1 The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. They listened to the order and it was delivered only slightly outside of the time frame I expected. (No Stars awarded or deducted.) #2 The rice soup tasted like watered down Campbell's rice soup (down to the uniform celery pieces. (- 1/2 Star). The soup did have non-uniform pieces of chicken (+ 1/2 Star). #3 The spring roll was greasy and 99% cabbage. I think there were 3 carrot slivers inside - and they were faded and not fresh. I have the same quality dipping sauce as a bottle I tried from the Asian food section of Walmart. I have had far superior dipping sauces from the shelf of asian markets. (-1 Star). #4 My wife's Chicken with basil was ground properly, but the sauce had no discernable taste until she was nearly done. Then there was a slightly "off" after taste. (-1 Star). #5 My Red Curry stir fry had the same generic brown sauce as my wife's dish, with a little heat (I ordered 3 heat stars. I got maybe 1 1/2 Heat Stars). The vegetables were almost not soggy. The onions were decent, but lacked flavour. The green beans had no flavour (maybe I should award 1/2 Star beause I hate the taste of green beans - but tried them in the hope that one day I will find a greenbean I like.). (-1 Star for less than mediocre food). #6 We left the restaurant and made it to the rest stop on I-40. We pitched the takeaway containers because the food did not settle well. It may have been just us. My wife has a touchy digestive system at times. I don't unless I have a bad reaction to food. (-1 star). #7 We got home and when I went to wash our clothes the next day, my wife's pants here mottled as if she had sat on a bench seat that was cleaned with very diluted bleach. Luckily they were not a new pair of pants. My shorts were tan and did not show any signs of mottling. I wish I could give Chopstix a +1 for cleanliness, but I'd have to give them a -1 for the pants. Maybe we just hit the restaurant on an off day or maybe it was just us. We eat a lot of Thai food and were very disappointed in everything but the waitstaff. Addendum: My wife reminded me that there was a lot of paper debris on the floor (under the tables and in the walking areas) as well as more than an occasional food drop on the carpet. She says that there were enough staff around that running a carpet sweeper over the walking areas after bussing tables and before seating guests would greatly improve the overall impression of the restaurant. read more

Decor is ok at best. Bathrooms are less than par even for a Thai place, and on that note I don't think most Thai would consider it all Thai but with that said the food was surprisingly above par. The wonton soup combination seafood is a good size meal by itself. The duck was probably some of the best I've had including most 5 star places I've dined. read more

The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive, except for when i comes time for them to bring the bill. I only come at lunch, and it's slowish sometimes, but I've been coming a lot since I started working in town. The food is great. You can order from the full menu on either side. I always get the red curry with chicken. It's just great. The soup and spring roll before the entree are good. I like the light taste of the soup. It's not too heavy before the meal comes.
