Pad Thai, House Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Thai Tea

I've had this spot on my list for a while, so the last time we were out and craving Thai, we decided to give it a try. I'd heard good things, but to be honest, I wasn't sure what to think about it being located inside a Harris Teeter. A silly hesitation in hindsight. We went around lunchtime but didn't have to wait long to order or for our food to come out. After ordering, we sat in their small designated seating area, and the food was brought out to us. We went with an order of spring rolls, a Thai tea, house fried rice, and of course, pad Thai. Everything came out hot and was delicious. The portions were generous and plenty for both of us to have leftovers, which we thoroughly enjoyed the next day too. Needless to say, we'll be back soon.

Located inside a grocery store, Thai Sawatdee is a great place to grab lunch or dinner while doing your grocery shopping. Service was quick and food came out quickly. I was able to pick up a few items needed from Harris Teeter and when I returned my food was ready. They also have tables if you wish to eat there, which I did since it was clean inside. I ordered the lunch pad Thai special, which came with two small spring rolls and my choice of soup or salad. I picked the salad and it was so good. I'm not sure if the dressing was a combo ginger peanut dressing or what but it was so good. I have never had orange pad Thai before but it was super flavorful. Had a citrus feel to it but it was some of the best pad Thai I've ever had. Gonna be hard to eat any other pad Thai dish from somewhere else.

I tried this small spot located in the front, left side of the Harris Teeter in this sprawling, busy strip center that was home to Cloverdale Kitchen for over 50 years! There is a sister restaurant on Healy Drive. There is no table service so head to the small register that fronts the equally small kitchen. Though this is predominantly a takeout spot, there are a few tables available for dining - you have a good view of the grocery store's produce section. I ordered the Spicy Catfish lunch special and the Thai Basil lunch (chicken only) - both come with soup and 2 spring rolls with chili sauce. This was some good food - a nice level of spice and texture - not too much spice, a fine amount of texture! The catfish was not especially plentiful, what was there was very flavorful. The catfish nuggets were stir fried in curry paste along with onions, carrots, zucchini, bamboo shoots, green pepper, and basil leafs. The chicken chunks were deep fried then put in a sweet sauce made up of sesame paste, rice vinegar, and soy sauce, among other things - this dish is a bit like Genl Tso's chicken. The broccoli was plentiful, tender and fresh tasting. The clear broth soup had a decent amount of vegetables and had a nice flavor. I'm not the biggest fan of spring rolls since they are often thinly filled and overcooked - but these were nicely filled, loaded with flavor that was further enhanced by the Thai chili sauce - right mixture of heat and sweet. The service was excellent, efficient and personable. I'll definitely return.

Watery soup I never was asked "salad or soup" so she had to change soup for my preferred salad and it was drenched in a flour pasty peanut

awful, I've worked at Baptist hospital and ordered in the past many times but over the years it's gone down hill, green curry with eggplant had two of the largest pieces of broccoli in it! I've had Thai a lot at other places and no one put broccoli in it; the sauce was like flavored water, the salad had pasty flour tasting peanut butter dressing, too bad, but I'll never go here again

After so long it was time for an updated review. Most people outside of Winston Salem thinks it is crazy that the best Thai food is found in a grocery store. Most of the time I get to go but today we decided to eat in the store. They have really great lunch specials. My husband loves their pad. Thai and I had a tasty noodle dish with shrimp. My son loves dumplings, so he wanted to try them. They are packed with filling and have a really wonderful flavor, the lunch special comes with delicious spring rolls and a soup or salad. I love their peanut dressing because it is not too sweet. The soup is also very light. I would highly recommend eating at Teeter Thai.

Decent Thai, but not extraordinary. I requested extra spicy, but it was definitely mild. Flavors were typical. I got the spring rolls, hot and crispy. Thai tea was as expected and refreshing. I also got the basil rolls, which are rice paper wraps, cabbage, carrots, shrimp. I didn't know it had shrimp, and I'm not a fan. I also figured out I'm not a fan of rice paper. That's not their fault, and you could tell ingredients were fresh. This place was recommended to me by a local, who says it's her favorite in the Winston Salem area. They have traditional Thai, various noodles (stir fry, pan fried crispy, vermicelli). They have salads, various rice dishes. They have some soups that looks like they would be filling and comforting. They have a "spicy catfish" dish I would like to try. This experience didn't blow me away, but would definitely try again.

Outstanding food and service but in a grocery store not much ambiance. Food makes up for it though! Great food and so fresh

It started with the spring roll that comes with the lunch order. It was crunchy on the outside and soft with cabbage and carrots on the inside. I'd never had the golden curry puff before but it was delicious and I paired it with a spicy sauce which was great. It came with four of them so you could easily split this with others or enjoy them all yourself like I did. They were so soft and delicious. They were stuffed with potato, carrot, onion, and ground chicken with curry sauce on it. Truly excellent. The chicken drunken noodle was tasty and perfectly cooked. There was also a perfect amount of sauce in the meal which made it light. I love it. Will definitely be back. The server was so polite and attentive. Great experience all around.

The teller line was in about the same spot as our table so a lot of memories flooded back. The atmosphere is definitely not bank-like - lots of large windows, black lacquer, sleek and modern but with colorful, timeless Thai accents. I decided to order the Chicken Lettuce Wrap starter as my entree. I could have sworn I made a photo but apparently I did not. The wraps came with a sweet and sour sauce. They were good (there were 5 or 6 and I ate all but one!) but the consistency of the chicken was not my favorite (finely ground, almost gritty) and they were a bit bland without the sauce. I was in a party of 11 and everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Service was helpful and friendly. Gratuity was added to the bill due to the size of our party. I would come here again!

The interior features decorative woodwork, plants, and even a fish tank. The ambiance here is cozy and inviting. Cha Da also boasts a sizeable menu. In addition to the soups, salads, curries, rice, and noodle dishes you'd expect, there are more lamb, duck, and fish offerings than you'd find at many Thai places. Everything else was a mixed bag. Servers are affable, but the kitchen is rather slow. The food ranged from off-putting to solidly satisfying, with nothing really impressing. An order of papaya salad was generously portioned but went too heavy on the fish sauce. A tofu green curry featured a flavorful, coconut-forward sauce that was both tasty and too thin, and the accompanying vegetables could have benefited from more eggplant and less cabbage. A chicken Pad Thai hit the desired level of spiciness and did not skimp on the tamarind. While it was sweeter than I've had elsewhere, it hit the spot overall. Cha Da Thai's setting would make it an attractive dine-in destination if only the food were more consistent. As-is, Winston-Salem has better Thai options.

They have Malaysian food and a specialty menu for khmer food. Khmer food is not knowned much in the east but its beginning to be more learned about and popular. There food is rich in flavor and there cuisine is mostly known for there use of fresh herbs, coconut milk and aromatic spice paste;known as kroeung(lemon grass paste). I decided to try some entrees from the Khmer menu. I tryed the Malaysian Roti appetizer with side curry. It is so so delicous. The curry is tasty too but a little too sweet for my taste. Main entrees I tryed was the chicken kroeung (sour lemongrass soup) and the braised pork meat on bone cooked in soy sauce( Malaysian style but Khmer people have a similar dish). The chicken kroeung is soup for the soul, filled with alot of green veggies and best eaten with white rice. The braised pork meat is great too. Cooked just right and seasoned good. Its not sweet or salty. Usually I would try braised meat in soy at other restaurants either it would be way too sweet or salty but they made theres just right. Now the Southeastern asian cooking is not for everybody or those who have only tried chinese or japanese food. If you'd like to try something different but oh sooo delicous, khmer cusine is for you!! The staff is very welcoming, friendly and informative. Food came out hot, quick and tasty(bursting of aromatic flavors). I met the owner too. He mentioned he also have a donut shop called Intown donuts and Boba tea..down the road on Jonestown Road. Will definitely dine here again and try there other menu items. But when I ordered it the manager,Tony Tan, said the dish was actually 1/2 Roasted Duck! I went with the duck(which includes steamed rice), and added Baby Bok Choy, a nicely stir-fried dish that goes very well as a side item with a great many Asian entrees! These items made up a very nice meal. The duck is chopped into chunks with bone in, and is plated with a nice amount of rich broth, with just a hint of sweetness. The chunked up approach for the duck does result in some small pieces of bone to be picked through, in some cases fairly carefully. The picking through the bones was definitely worth it. I'm looking forward to trying additional Cambodian dishes.
