Thai Sawatdee is my family's go-to for Thai food in Winston! It hits the spot everytime. My husband loves the spicy noodle dish. He asks for it super spicy, and it delivers on that request! Great heat!! The pad woonsen had great flavor, and I really liked how many veggies it had on it. The broccoli could have been cooked a little more, but it was still fine to eat! We picked it up for takeout, and the service was relatively quick and friendly. I think I only had to wait an extra 5 minutes after my estimated ready time. read more

this is one of the most underrated places to get authentic flavors that I have come across in Winston-Salem. The chicken wings are out of this world as are the pho and curry options. there are multiple options for people with any type of dietary restriction. I've had this spot on my list for a while, so the last time we were out and craving Thai, we decided to give it a try. I'd heard good things, but to be honest, I wasn't sure what to think about it being located inside a Harris Teeter. A silly hesitation in hindsight. We went around lunchtime but didn't have to wait long to order or for our food to come out. After ordering, we sat in their small designated seating area, and the food was brought out to us. We went with an order of spring rolls, a Thai tea, house fried rice, and of course, pad Thai. Everything came out hot and was delicious. The portions were generous and plenty for both of us to have leftovers, which we thoroughly enjoyed the next day too. Needless to say, we'll be back soon. read more

I was able to pick up a few items needed from Harris Teeter and when I returned my food was ready. They also have tables if you wish to eat there, which I did since it was clean inside. I ordered the lunch pad Thai special, which came with two small spring rolls and my choice of soup or salad. I picked the salad and it was so good. I'm not sure if the dressing was a combo ginger peanut dressing or what but it was so good. I have never had orange pad Thai before but it was super flavorful. Had a citrus feel to it but it was some of the best pad Thai I've ever had. Gonna be hard to eat any other pad Thai dish from somewhere else. read more

I tried this small spot located in the front, left side of the Harris Teeter in this sprawling, busy strip center that was home to Cloverdale Kitchen for over 50 years! There is a sister restaurant on Healy Drive. There is no table service so head to the small register that fronts the equally small kitchen. Though this is predominantly a takeout spot, there are a few tables available for dining - you have a good view of the grocery store's produce section. I ordered the Spicy Catfish lunch special and the Thai Basil lunch (chicken only) - both come with soup and 2 spring rolls with chili sauce. This was some good food - a nice level of spice and texture - not too much spice, a fine amount of texture! The catfish was not especially plentiful, what was there was very flavorful. The catfish nuggets were stir fried in curry paste along with onions, carrots, zucchini, bamboo shoots, green pepper, and basil leafs. The chicken chunks were deep fried then put in a sweet sauce made up of sesame paste, rice vinegar, and soy sauce, among other things - this dish is a bit like Genl Tso's chicken. The broccoli was plentiful, tender and fresh tasting. The clear broth soup had a decent amount of vegetables and had a nice flavor. I'm not the biggest fan of spring rolls since they are often thinly filled and overcooked - but these were nicely filled, loaded with flavor that was further enhanced by the Thai chili sauce - right mixture of heat and sweet. The service was excellent, efficient and personable. I'll definitely return. read more

Ordered food from this place because everywhere I look it had very high ratings. So I don't know if what I got was because someone was having a bad day or not but this was some of the worst Thai food I've ever had. Everything had a very sweet taste to it. The ingredients were not fresh. The fresh rolls were not fresh at all the vegetables inside of them had obviously been sitting out for quite a while. The protein is in the Yum soup were dried out and looked like they had been cooked several days before. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone and I shall never be back. awful, I've worked at Baptist hospital and ordered in the past many times but over the years it's gone down hill, green curry with eggplant had two of the largest pieces of broccoli in it! The first time I came here, I was completely turned around and had no idea where the Thai restaurant was in this Harris Teeter shopping center. SURPRISE!! It's INSIDE the Harris Teeter in the produce section. Don't let this be a deterrent though. This is surprisingly convenient when you get used to it. You can place your order, pick up your grocery essentials and then grab your take out on the way out. Naturally, being inside a Harris Teeter limits the potential for ambiance, but that's not what real foodies focus on. I've eaten in, and though the dining area is small, everything is clean and orderly with good table space. The service is prompt and polite. You're always promptly greeted, given some time with the menus and then able to order when ready. I have tried quite a few things on their menu, including almost every item in the appetizer section, the pad woon sen, the Thai soups and the pho and nothing to date has disappointed me. After so long it was time for an updated review. Most people outside of Winston Salem thinks it is crazy that the best Thai food is found in a grocery store. Most of the time I get to go but today we decided to eat in the store. They have really great lunch specials. My husband loves their pad. Thai and I had a tasty noodle dish with shrimp. My son loves dumplings, so he wanted to try them. They are packed with filling and have a really wonderful flavor, the lunch special comes with delicious spring rolls and a soup or salad. I love their peanut dressing because it is not too sweet. The soup is also very light. I would highly recommend eating at Teeter Thai. read more

My mom & I get takeout from here almost every single week!! Get the panang curry-- that stuff lives in my dreams! Also, the crab rangoons are hands-down the best ones anywhere around. The wrapper is light and soooo crispy, with a mouthwatering cream cheese filling! The family that owns this place is so thoughtful and sweet too. Decent Thai, but not extraordinary. I requested extra spicy, but it was definitely mild. Flavors were typical. I got the spring rolls, hot and crispy. Thai tea was as expected and refreshing. I also got the basil rolls, which are rice paper wraps, cabbage, carrots, shrimp. I didn't know it had shrimp, and I'm not a fan. I also figured out I'm not a fan of rice paper. That's not their fault, and you could tell ingredients were fresh. This place was recommended to me by a local, who says it's her favorite in the Winston Salem area. They have traditional Thai, various noodles (stir fry, pan fried crispy, vermicelli). They have salads, various rice dishes. They have some soups that looks like they would be filling and comforting. They have a "spicy catfish" dish I would like to try. This experience didn't blow me away, but would definitely try again. read more

The menu looked pretty extensive and promising, so I was excited to try this place out. When I arrived, I saw Asian aunties in the back cooking and running the kitchen -- another good sign! Unfortunately, the food here was just not good. My go-to dish when I first try a Thai restaurant is the Pad Thai. It's very hard to mess up Pad Thai and this place did just that. A good Pad Thai (and Thai food in general) has a delicate balance of savory, sweet, sour, and sometimes nutty. The Pad Thai here was just sweet. There was no savory element and just a SLIGHT hint of sour that did not balance anything out. The noodles were thin and bright orange which is concerning. I asked for a high heat level -- I reminded them that I'm Asian and I can do spices. The heat level I received was less than that found in Hot Cheetos. The spring rolls had zero flavor. Maybe I'll give this spot another try. Maybe the Asian aunties were just having an off day, but then again, maybe I'll just pack my own lunch from home next time. So hungry. read more

I have been wanting to come here for quite a while. I was finally able to come and honestly, it's my new favorite Pho spot its inside of the Harris tetter on Cloverdale, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered the spring rolls to start off and they are so simple yet so delicious and to drink I of course ordered a Thai tea and it was perfect and so refreshing we then ordered the steak and brisket pho the broth was perfect and the type of noodle they used was also one of my favorite things and they also brought us out an assortment of chilis oils which is one of my favorite parts because I love to make mine very spicy. The service here was great and it was very easy to order, and they were still very attentive I will say it's a bit confusing the first time you go but you just order at the counter and take a seat, and they bring the food right to your table this is my new pho spot for sure. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before! It has been a dinner saver for our family for years - no food at home, go to grocery, realize it's going to be a solid hour for food to be on table, order from Thai Sawatdee, shop, check out, grab the takeout food from Thai Sawatdee, serve dinner and have food for the rest of the week! This past week we did a similar pattern but also realized we ordered super well! Tried the fish cake appetizer for the first time. The fish cakes were pretty small, about the spice of a half dollar but were pretty good and the cucumber salad with peanuts that comes with it is delicious! We also got the basic crab Rangoon but their crab Rangoon is the best in town, super light wonton wrappers. I got the eggplant Thai special and my husband got the shrimp and scallops on the Thai specials menu. I don't usually like "brown sauce" as it is usually super gluey with too much cornstarch but theirs was perfect! I had to force myself to not eat it all in one sitting! The Pho with chicken was just what the doctor ordered on a dreary day! They gave plenty of cilantro and bean sprouts to top it off. It came with 2 mini egg rolls that were a nice surprise. Was so excited when we saw a high review on yelp and door dash . Ordered take out from here. I ordered the pad Thai asked for Thai spicy and it was the complete opposite. Had no taste - the noodles were clumped together and was nearly impossible to eat. My friends ordered the pineapple pork fried rice and order of chicken fried rice and it was bland and tasteless. None of us even ate a quarter of our dishes. Ended yo tossing it all. A huge disappointment honestly. I'm not sure how this has 4.2 stars. Can speak for service or ambiance as we did take out. We had Thai Sawatdee recommended to us by several people who swore that it's the best kept secret in Winston. They weren't wrong! There are two locations, but we've been told this is the gem. It's located inside of a Harris Teeters, so you can get your groceries and take out Thai food. They do have some seating, but it is very limited, and it seems that most people do takeout. I ordered the red curry and my husband ordered a stir fry. Both were great. They do get quite busy, but you can always browse Harris Teeter while you wait. Stop by next time you get your groceries! read more

Secondly: MLB got dinner while I was getting calamine lotion so I don't know for sure what I had but I really liked it! :-) A friend suggested stopping in to thid HT and we happily found Yelpers in agreement on this dining choice. Hot tea accompanied a pleasant dinner sitting in a cozy corner of the local supermarket. Steamed dumplings were delish and came with sweet my sauce, thicker sweeter and a little less plummy than your average plum sauce. Pad Woosen: Ricey vermicelli with thin sliced porks plus egg and all sorts of veggies: pea-pods, broccolis, sprouts and so on was light and flavorful and served with a generous bowl of rice. The dish looked sooo big but it eats pretty well, finished the whole thing feeling nicely full but not bloaty and still felt good a few hours later. read more

Best Thai restaurant in Winston-Salem. The fact that it is inside the Harris Teeter in Cloverdale shopping center only adds to its mystique. Fun place to order some dinner, do some grocery shopping, then eat and head home. Haven't had a bad dish here, if you stay on the Thai menu. I personally would avoid the Vietnamese menu based on my sampling of the vermicelli bowl. Masaman curry is one of my favs, though, as is the nam prik pow and spicy noodles. The typical spice level is "haole" -- even on a dish like the "spicy noodles" -- so if you want it hot, you have to ask for it. read more

Ok so I've never had curry before but this was some pretty good stuff. I got the panang curry with chicken. I could taste the sweet coconut milk and it had just the right spice level. I also got the cheese rolls which are cream cheese wrapped in a spring roll wrapper and fried.. omg amazing too! The chicken lettuce wraps were flavorful and they gave me plenty of lettuce for the chicken. Everything was really good. This was an Uber eats order so I can't really comment on the experience inside. read more
