I came here because of all the great reviews, but after my experience, I honestly don't understand the hype. From the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. The host/server didn't greet us or say hello--instead, she looked confused that we were even there. When we asked if we could sit at the bar, her response was, "Um... yeah, I guess," which immediately made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. After we sat down, she continued staring at us as if we weren't supposed to be there. The service only got worse from there. She was rude while taking our order, then spent most of the time sitting directly across from us on her phone. She never once checked on us, asked how the food was, or if we needed refills or anything else. It was some of the most inattentive and unprofessional service I've experienced. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. It was mediocre at best. The vegetables in my curry were clearly freezer-burned, which completely ruined the dish. I also ordered soup with tofu in it, and the tofu tasted like it had been fried in oil that hadn't been changed in months. It had an old, rancid, greasy flavor that made it almost impossible to eat. Overall, the poor customer service and disappointing food made this a terrible experience. I won't be coming back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. read more

Updated review- My husband and I used to love this place. It was the best we could find in the whole Charlotte area and we frequented it often. Unfortunately the two chefs left the restaurant and now it's just become another so-so Thai spot. It lacks spice and everything we've had for the past few months has been bland and underwhelming. I bought take out: shrimp basil fried rice and coconut mango sticky rice. When I got home and started eating my dinner there was no shrimp in the fried rice. The order on the receipt said shrimp but no shrimp given and charge an additional $11+ tax for the shrimp. I called and ask for them to refund me the additional charge of the shrimp and they refused cause they don't know how to use their Kiso. they wanted me to drive back 20 to them to pick up another order and then drive back 20 minutes home. I said no, either you deliver to me or refund and they refused saying that they are busy and have no time to deliver them hung up the phone. Very bad customer service and takes no accountability for their mistakes read more

One of the best Thai tea we've hit up. This is a family owned establishment and they deliver 100%. The staff is super sweet and hospitable. The ingredients are prepared fresh and you can taste it. The prices are reasonable too. Overall this is a slam dunk if you're in the mood for Thai food. We'll be back in the future. read more

Last time we went into a restaurant that was totally empty it was a mistake. This time we hit GOLD. I have no idea why it was empty but maybe it was because we were a little early for lunch as it was 1130am. They did have three orders to go come in while we were here though so... I ordered the yellow chicken curry and my husband had the pad Thai. Both were really good... I would have to say that the yellow chicken curry was the best I've ever had honestly. Maybe one other place could rival it We had the mango coconut rice for dessert and not only was it excellent also but the presentation was top-notch. Service was great. Smiles all around. Finally, an authentic Thai/Laos restaurant close to us! Thai Tair is located in China Grove right on Main Street. They have a pretty wide selection of Thai & Laotian dishes ranging from appetizers to street food to entrees and soups. We had the Som Tum Tard platter that has Thai style papaya salad, pork belly, meat balls, pork cake, shrimp, boiled egg and vermicelli noodles. Every bite was full of delicious authentic Southeast Asian flavors. If you're in or around the Salisbury area, make the short drive to experience the flavors of Southeast Asia. The owners, Mimi and Jennifer were super friendly and accommodating. I also had the pleasure of meeting one of the cooks, a Thai/Laotian momma, who was very happy to see that we enjoyed our food. Massaman curry was fresh, flavorful and pleasing to the eye. Preparation of food was evident with uniform cuts of vegetables and chicken. Portions for takeout were generous. I was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit to this restaurant. The food was much better than I expected. In my experience, ethnic food in the state of North Carolina is not nearly as good as what I have been accustomed to in other locations. Perhaps part of that has to do with fewer people looking for ethnic food. But the Thai food here was authentic, fresh and well priced. The staff is friendly and I will go here many more times. Wowwwww! This family owned place is excellent! Clean place with a 99+ sanitation score and the food is superb! They'll probably know who wrote this being I mentioned their Sani score lol! Price point and food portions are aligned which in this day and time is surprising. Good music to vibe too while eating authentic Thai food puts you in a good mood. A true gold mine. The Red Curry dish hit different . I was lucky to meet the owner and family they were such nice folks. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Had the Thai Sukiyaki as well as fried spring rolls and fresh rolls. Kids had teriyaki beef and hibachi chicken. The atmosphere, service, and food were incredible. I've eaten at my fair share of Thai restaurants (all over the US due to work travel) and this one is in the very top. What I don't expect was the delicious food presentation. Really great food! Authentic and made with Love. The people of China grove don't know what a gem they have yet. The place is still fairly new. I truly recommend! I would say my favorites so far are the papaya salad, the Kua Kling beef(a very tasty herbal beef treat with strong nuances of lemongrass and lime leaf, on a bed of lettuce with sticky rice and an egg on top). The other day I had fried tilapia with a mango curry that was deeelicious! My only complaints...I did not care for the fried shrimp appetizer simply because I do not like panko style crust but instead I prefer a tempura which , I know, is a personal preference. This place is a humble little hole in the wall joint in downtime China Grove.several time when going there, I was slightly overwhelmed by the loud music... I wish they'd find something thing to play that was more pleasant, less volume less words and dinner worthy for dining in.! Having moved to salisbury area I miss authentic foods more than anything else too many places Americanize their menus. Thai tair on the other hand. There is no fusion and no Americanization. And their street food selections are just awesome. The bonus for those that follow me for my gluten free recommendations according to the staff most anything in he many can be made gluten free with a few exceptions. I have missed good Thai food for decades not anymore. This is my new favorite place. read more

Tried this place for the first time today for lunch. Got the Massaman Curry and fresh rolls, both very good. The service was good and the menu does seem more authentic than other places in the area. My wife enjoyed her meal too, she ordered it hot and wished it had a little more heat though. Friendly people and quick service. They've done a good job redoing the interior, there's seating to eat-in. Not sure if we got a lunch or dinner portion but if it was a dinner portion then it could be just a little larger.
