Also caramel is my favorite so I could be tad biased . What was so quaint and cute about this place wasn't just shelves filled with chocolate but there is a story/narrative that draws you in to hear more about their chocolates. Finally I had a family emblem marking our 45th year immigrating to the US designed by my niece and Sarah was able to print onto the chocolate with couple of test trials. It was perfect. Printed 8 pieces for distribution. I had fun making my own chocolate flavor combination as well. Want a fun, interesting and yummy chocolates, this place is. I gave Chouquette the general parameters for the assignment (birthday gift for my wife), but left the design to their imagination. The typeface and imagination in the images were stellar, and it far exceeded what I had anticipated! The whole experience was stupendous, and I can't say enough good things about them. In addition, considering how specialized this service is, the prices were extremely reasonable (shockingly so). If you are in the DMV, find the time to go out there and pick it up - this is much wiser than entrusting their creations to delivery drivers. As someone who has been trying European chocolate from many countries since the 70's, I was also surprised that the taste was very good (not cloying or sickly sweet), since most chocolatiers in America - even with European source materials - can be imaginative with the fillings but put out an atrocious product. This place is known for their small batch of chocolate-covered caramels and are popular for weddings, hostess gifts, thank you gifts, birthday parties, etc. I love their flower-like design with interesting artwork printed on top, and they can be customized to any artwork you prefer. I purchased some that had a cute green flower design - the shell wasn't too thin or thick, and it contained a generous amount of creamy caramel. I liked how the pieces are also larger than the norm of chocolate pieces, so you'll get to satisfy your sweet tooth! I've run into Chouquette at various Yelp events as well as other promotional activities. When trying to find some festive graduation gifts, I thought of Chouquette to send some sweet and local flair. During the warm weather, sending chocolate in the mail can be risky. Fortunately, Chouquette offered upgraded shipping options to mail the chocolates in a cold pack and protective foil. They also offer flexible shipping options to avoid mailing on extremely hot days. Communications regarding shipping and delivery were thorough (which is much appreciated if you're a paranoid gift-sender like me). I have seen their chocolates at our local Dawson's market and loved the Dr. Anthony Fauci chocolates. I went to their website and ordered the Dr. Fauci gift box - their sweet tribute to America's Most Trusted Doctor. I loved that the box was designed and produced by 4 women entrepreneurs, in 3 states and every purchase supports the employment of individuals living with intellectual differences. The recipient LOVED the gift. Chouquette got the order shipped out ASAP but unfortunately the US Postal service didn't get it to my friend by Christmas. They do have other chocolate varieties and will customize any chocolate with a printed, edible design on the top. I love that the owner, Sarah, is so passionate about her confections. On Sundays, the proprietor brings her friendly smile and beautiful sweets to the Bethesda Central Farm Market. I recently sampled a Guiness caramel (delish!), and bought a box of DC-themed vanilla sea salt caramels for a friend who is leaving DC (she loved them!). I met Sarah back in August of last year, and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone more dedicated to her business!! She redeemed a Groupon for me, and upon tasting one of her chocolate-enrobed (covered is just not a strong enough word....) caramels, I promptly bought another few single caramels of other flavors.
