We were looking for a fun drink and came across Monkey's Matcha. We didn't get any cakes from Lil Cakes, just matcha. The menu is small, but varied so there are fun options. I loved the matcha they used and am very glad they properly whisked and mixed the drink - it makes all the difference. I had the strawberry matcha and the sweetness of the strawberry was a great balance to the earthiness of the matcha. The ratio of the two were wonderfully balanced too. I'm not sure why they call this place a creamery. The ice cream is either ice milk or they freeze the "ice cream" for so long it's crystallized. I bought two cupcakes, they charge extra for the butterfinger one, not sure why. There wasn't anything special about it. The milkshakes are $5. on Fridays. They serve them in a cup that's probably 8 oz . So small. And bring your own lids because the cups they use don't have lids that could fit. We decided to try the Reese Chocolate Brownie, we didn't taste any peanut butter, no Reeses or brownies. I opted for a sugar cone that tasted like it had been sitting in a grandma's house, like mothballs. It was off-putting. Talking about off-putting, the place smelled like a sewer. I will say that everything arrived neatly packaged and I don't have a picture of the cupcakes because we devoured them. The cupcakes were a 10/10! The cheesecake was good but not great according to my brother in law. My beef is with the fact that I was charged for a pint of ice cream but the picture below is what I received. This spot's food truck came to my school during lunch time. There was no line and I was served quickly. The signage on the truck is large and very clear. I ordered the Birthday Cake and the Wedding Cake. Both were delicious but the almond frosting on the Wedding Cake was to die for! I love thicker frostings (not a fan of whipped), so these were right up my alley. They sat overnight and were still moist the next day. I can't wait until they come back! Went there to check out the sweets. Very slow. No greeting. One of the employees said someone will be with you shortly after 15 minutes. She just moved to where she thought I couldn't see her and was on her phone! Very rude. Not welcoming. In these times we are living in I don't recommend anyone who looks like me to go there. I wanted some cookies to treat myself - and others - so I googled and found Lil' Cakes and Creamery online. It delivered exactly as advertised. Walking inside the bakery was heaven. The smell was cinnamon and sugar and spice and cookies and cakes and . . . well, you get the picture. I got a lot of cookies and they were all very good. The service was prompt and polite and friendly. I will definitely go back. There are some housekeeping issues that prevent me from giving a 5 star review. For example, the counter was dirty around the cash register and the door, upon exiting, was so dirty with fingerprints that it was almost nauseating. Sorry but it was. It's really convenient being able to view all of their items, placing an order and having it ready for pick up! Their cupcakes are scrumptious! Not only are they cute, but they're also rich in flavor. I like that they are super heavy but not too light/fluffy either- a good medium. They have a variety of flavors and I believe they're fairly priced. My dogs enjoyed the doggy cake. It lasted a week or so because they're both small. After getting my first 4 cupcakes from them recently, I came back a few days after to get this half dozen to share with my family. I adore the presentation and the flavor profiles/choices all make me salivate, making it even harder to choose and execute self-control. The workers there were also very kind and patient with giving me recommendations too. Anyways, the cupcake itself were all soft, moist and not too sweet because most of that come from the icing and other toppings. They have an icing to cake ratio that's visually-appealing but can make it hard to have more than one in a sitting (without feeling guilty). I happen to find this wonderful place about a year ago and I've been happy ever since. One of my favorite bakeries. No matter what time of day I would go or order, the cupcakes are fresh, moist and delicious. They have different flavors almost every week but they have their usual staples. All options are delicious. They also make their own ice cream and the flavors vary as well but I haven't had it because I'm lactose intolerant but my boyfriend has had it several times and he loves it (he will also eat it in front of me taunting me and sing "I got some ice cream and you don't have none" - a song from an old Eddie Murphy comedy skit). Anyway the cake is not overly sweet including whatever frosting they have paired with the cake. Pricing is decent and the cupcake size is pleasantly a good size given the pricing. I've ordered cupcakes from other places (one place even had their own tv show at one point) and I'm not impressed given the cupcake size, amount of cake and frosting ratio. Also the staff is always friendly and smiling. You do not see anyone on their cell phone or anyone who is having a side conversation while you are placing your order. I would take a picture of my orders but I'm usually so greedy and eat one as soon as I get my order so there isn't any time lol. This is hands down the best bakery ever! Side note - my only "complaint" is that the location in Rockville is located in a shopping strip with limited parking as there are other business there (almost a long strip) so expect to park some distance from the store and getting in and out of the parking lot had its own adventure but if you follow traffic rules and all you will be ok. I usually frequent the Gaithersburg location as it's closer to my home but occasionally I'll stop at the Rockville location since it's in the same area where I work. read more

Yes, the hype is real my friends. After watching picture, after picture of these delectable and scrumptious cupcakes grace the feed of my Yelp friends, I had to take the plunge! It wasn't a toe dip, it was a full on jump in the pool with a dozen of these delicious delights and 5 pup cakes to celebrate my puppies first year birthday. She loved her pup cakes, which are made from carrot and peanut butter flavor. She chowed her pup cake down and was hungering for more. Luckily, they come 4 to a box. As for our opinion, we ordered the Oreo cupcake, the wedding cupcake, the hot fudge sundae cupcake, the red velvet cupcake, the pink icing cupcake, and the chocolate, the caramel cupcake, and vanilla cake with chocolate frosting cupcake. They were moist, piled high with frosting and toppings. They were not overly sweet, but tasted just right. They tasted as good as they looked. Everyone seemed to love them, but one guest said they couldn't really taste the almond flavor in the wedding cupcake. They enjoyed it more as a vanilla cupcake. My favorite so far is the Oreo cupcake. It has that dark, rich moist cake, and yummy Oreo flavor. It took all of my willpower not to scarf it down in two bites, but to eat it more like a lady. True confessions, it never made it past the 5 minute mark. Service was par excellence! I called on the phone, they took my order and credit card information. So you know its real talk when an Elite Yelper changes their review from 2 stars to 5 stars!!! I got a box of 4 cupcakes this time..and 3 out of the 4 cupcakes were fantastic...Im in complete shock!! My box included two versions of their strawberry shortcake cupcakes; the cake portion in both those two cupcakes were simply perfection!!!...soft, perfect texture, perfect density, and flavorful (insert standing ovation here). Their respective frostings were delicious..not too sweet. My box also included a marshmallow "mel-o cream" cupcake, which was a lovely and creative take on that flavor, and the cake portion was also flawless. My remaining cupcake was a red velvet cupcake..which was pretty decent in flavor, however magnificent in texture..but overall pales in comparison to the other cupcakes. So, in all fairness, my first experience did not include any of these flavors, except for the red velvet cupcake. I also decided not to try any of the macarons this time. My first experience wasn't great, and I don't know why those cupcakes were tasteless and stale, but lil cakes and creamery definitely get a high five for the level up!!! Unfortunately, I did not try the homemade ice cream because two moms with 4 small kids were too busy sampling every SINGLE flavor. I don't mind waiting and being patient with little children, but once I realized both moms were deliberately avoiding acknowledging my wait and presence, even after lil cakes servers more than once apologized for the wait, I decided I'll come back another time to try their ice cream. The only reason why I mention this experience with those moms, especially in this climate where we have to remember to treat ALL people like human beings, the lil cake servers were so gracious and courteous in repeatedly acknowledging my wait and apologetic for the circumstances....bravo!! Amazing customer service! I learned about this bakery on social media during covid19. We had a friendly conversation on Facebook Messenger where menu was shared along with recommendations. I preordered a dozen cupcakes to be picked up at the shop during 12-1 on a Sunday. Cars lined up outside for curbside delivery or you were welcome in the shop with your mask on. We prepaid on Venmo. I ordered 6 for a friend who recently had a baby girl. She commented that the cupcakes were gorgeous and had tasted 3 as soon as we dropped them off. I love this place! I got one of the cupcake and cream cups, where you get a cupcake and ice cream all in the same cup. It was super tasty and went together really well (like ice cream cake, but better because it included actual cake). I got the cannoli cupcake with cookies and cream ice cream. Their ice cream was really tasty and I could tell that both the cupcake and ice cream were fresh. The ice cream flavors rotate, but tonight they had several standard flavors like cookies and cream, chocolate, coffee, cotton candy, strawberry, and vanilla. They also had a sorbet option. My husband and I were in the area. We thought the shop looked cute, and chose to stop after having dinner at a neighboring restaurant. It smelled heavenly inside. We chose the pina colada as a milkshake to complement our dinner. It was so creamy and fresh. I could taste the pineapple and coconut with each sip. It ended up taking a while to prepare and we got some toppings in there. The cupcake and ice cream cup came out to about $10, which is a bit steep. The flavor wasn't special or something I really craved. In the end, it was an okay experience. The ice cream had a pop of color which shows that a lot of food coloring was inside. It's great for photos, but takes away from the feeling like it was naturally made. If you're craving ice cream or something sweet and you're in the area, it's worth a try.
