For the first time, a head shot that represents how I see myself. This was an amazing experience. First, the results. I needed a head shot to kick-start a job search. Your head shot is the first thing people see on LinkedIn, so it needs to capture the professionalism and image you want to convey. Based on the numerous comments I've received from colleagues and headhunters, Chris nailed it. More importantly though, when I saw the picture, I was taken aback myself, because for the first time, I saw what I felt like. Beyond aesthetics, I found it both a confidence booster and a catalyst for action - this is who I am, and now, this is what people will see - I'm ready to take on the world. Bring it. Next, the science. Chris has made head shots his specialty; he doesn't do other photography. Like an engineer, he's taken apart the elements of a great head shot, and then he's studied how to get killer results like a science. If you work with him, listen to him. He is right. If you are a high-energy, driver-driver, over-achiever type, you've met your match. Except, he's not competing with you. Instead, rest assured he knows how you think, how to talk to you, and how to get results. I am so happy with the final product, but I was exhausted after the shoot. Finally, the process. You bring a large number of clothing options to work with, and you do your hair. Chris brings in Jess, a make-up artist, to get your make-up photo-perfect. Jess listened and looked through my favorite selfies to get a sense for how I liked to look, and then ensured that the finished product followed the same look. The shoot itself was a lot of work, but very fun. Chris will share his thinking with you, instruct you on what to do, and show you the interim photos so you can see the cause and effect of what he's telling you to do. Once we got started, it was clear he was an expert, and I could worry less about the process and instead focus on what I needed to do to get the results I wanted. My husband was in need of new headshots and Chris could not have been a better choice. Seriously, these are not your average headshots. He's also definitely not your neighborhood family portrait photographer or just another guy with a camera and tripod who offers headshot services. These are photos clearly taken by a guy with technique, killer instincts, and above all, the knowledge of the ins and outs of an effective headshot. I wish I could adequately describe how sharp and exciting his photos are, but you're just going to have to look for yourself and see the punch of personality each photo carries. He also does a great job of explaining his process and wrote some interesting blog posts that he shares on his website. I was so impressed with how quickly he was able to coach my husband into delivering crazy good looking photos. When he asks you to do something, he'll explain to you why so that you understand the level of impact it has on your photos. Every direction he gave felt intentional and not just some ego boosting compliment that may on the off chance provide a good photo. His approach is exciting and extremely effective and as a performer, my husband was able to walk away with new skills that have helped his career on stage. I came to Chris with a couple outlandish requests. "Make my jawline disappear" and "make me look less square" are to name a few. I was also a complete mess during our session. I have never "modeled" so asking Chris to show me again- the technical movements to make to my face to make a normal smile felt a little foolish but he was so good at coaching me what to do. I booked Chris for a headshot session hoping to get one decent professional picture of myself. I'm one of those people that typically run from cameras, never take selfies, and never ever have had a professional headshot. I put complete trust in Chris, considering he's the expert at photography, and let him work his magic. When you book a session with Chris, he brings a make-up artist as well to make sure your make-up is appropriate for the photos. I can honestly say that I thought the make-up was not my style at all, but Chris is the expert so I let them do their job. Chris and the make-up artist worked with me throughout the photoshoot helping me get rid of my double chin and all of my awkwardness. Not once did he get frustrated with my fidgety, nervous body movement that hit me as soon as the camera pointed in my direction. After just an hour or so, Chris showed me the photographs he was able to collect and I was completely blown away. I didn't know that it was actually possible for me to take a good headshot. Actually we found two good head-shots :0 ! After we chose the best headshots, Chris edited them to make them look even better ;) and he had me the final version in less than 8 hours. My wife and I both were way overdue for professional headshots, the cropped photo with your friend was inappropriate for about the last ten years but we used it anyway. I found Chris through yelp and emailed him through the app. He responded on the weekend and we spoke that day. We were in a hurry for because my wife needed the pic for something. Chris was very flexible brought is both in and worked with us iteratively throughout the morning. Katie was in makeup (with excellent makeup person, (she does tv people most of the time I think and Chris's clients), and I he was shooting with me. We were expecting this process to be extremely uncomfortable because neither of us likes to pose for pictures to begin with.
