This company is not at all transparent about their pricing and tries to sell products to you the entire time you're getting your service. They will put various prices per service and then charge almost double for an "expert" to do your hair. Little do you know, every stylist is considered an expert there, so they charged me $60-70 for a hair trim. Also asked for dark brown hair and they dyed it black, which took months to fade. read more

So today was my first time ever going to Christina and Company Salon and Spa, and it will be my last. My appointment lasted almost five hours to do a highlight and a manicure. My manicure has already chipped on two nails and I was charged $200 for this. A manicure is $21 and the highlight should have been around $80. I was informed afterwards that the technician had to use "more chemicals than expected" and the toner she put in my hair was all extra charges. I was never informed that my hair needed more chemicals than expected. If that was even remotely a concern, I should have been spoken to and I would have changed the game plan for my hair today. The toner was also added without me being informed that it would be an additional $40. The tech simply said "I'll be right back" and left. Then she came back and squirted stuff in my hair. At no time was I informed what it was or why it was being done, let alone the extra charge. I don't often get my hair or nails done, so I don't know if almost five hours is normal for a highlight or manicure, but I will not be returning. It's poor business to not inform your customers of extra charges until they are going to pay. 4 years ago I got a gift card from my boyfriend. I got the whole work, was so happy and excited. How fast that went away. The girl that cut my hair was pregnant and was in a rush to have her coworker touch her belly that she cut my hair to short put my hair in shock and to this day It will not grow. I lost my nail on my foot due to a fungus I got from there. I have not and will never return. I felt it was a waste of my boyfriends money. I'm still working on getting my hair to grow since my cut was absolutely the worst my new stylist has ever seen. Nothing was cut the same length. If the closed down It would not bother me at all. I took my elderly mother to this salon today to get her hair colored, I showed the girl that I spoke to (Maggie) a picture on my phone & asked her specifically (is this doable) and she said yes! This was my moms first time to a salon and she was so excited, so I wanted to make sure it was memorable for her. Well it definitely was, but definitely not in a good way!!!! She was charged $140.00 which would have been fine, if she would have gotten what she asked for! Donot go to Christina's. I am very unhappy about my highlights. After Grace was done with my highlights, you could not even see them after I ended up paying $178. She said if they're too late I can come for a second session And spend another, $178. If I would've known that the first session would not turn out, I wouldn't have even gone there in the first place. She did a test strand and did not show me. I called and asked to speak to the owner because they do have a 12 day grace period and Christina the owner never even called me Back. She did not compensate me in anyway or offer to redo it. I ended up having to go to another salon and getting it done For $80. I am very happy with my results at the other salon. I will never go there again. They do not care about their customers. When all is said and done I ended up spending too and $58 for a cut and highlights. From both salons. They do not care about their customers. They are only there to take your money. read more

I went to the East Side location. Service at the front desk was great. Haircut was great. Spa service was not good. Haircut/style - my stylist (Kirsten) did an awesome job. They shampoo, cut, and finish with drying and styling. Price was just over $30 + tip and this is pretty standard in this area. Facial - I booked an hour facial. Total time for changing, brow & lip wax, facial, and getting dressed and up to the checkout desk was just over 30min. I had upgraded for deeper cleansing and literally still had makeup on my face when I left. Under my eyes was very dry. The girl was very nice, but definitely not worth $95 for this service. This is a "higher end" salon/spa. The atmosphere is nice, but nothing about the experience or service that really sets it apart. read more

Services and pricing is not the same on the East and West. You would think that they would tell you that. I ended up paying an extra $50 for basically the same thing! Also the facials are done poorly. (West side) I have consistently had white heads the day after facial from the extractions. I swore off them for 2 years after i finished my gift card. Decided to give it another try and it disappointed. I had to request the high frequency machine to be used (extra $10) to try to reduce the risk but alas, I still had 2 white heads the next day. First, I came for an appointment scheduled 2 weeks ahead when I came for services the stylist said she couldn't do my hair because she didn't think she could do the job then rescheduled me with another stylist. 2nd time I came for services I asked for a balayage I am already blonde I just wanted a little brown at the roots. I left with gray hair never received my products and was charged 240$ I was highly upset, after finally contacting the owner she refused a refund, she said she could have someone else dye my hair over the gray. I have been to at least three salons (Christina & Co., Element, Samson & Delilah's) on several occasions in this town that seem to pride themselves as high end. I have yet to be impressed. I have gone to Christina & Co off and on for several years to the same very sweet girl, whom has many years of experience. But it is hit or miss. Lately my color has been orange and no matter how many times I have pointed this out my hair still comes out orange. I know the girl I see here goes for continued education in the latest in hair but it does no good if their supplied with bad dye. Which is all I can assume at this point. Now, With Element, I go to another very nice girl with a number of years experience. The hair dye here burns my scalp to the point that I peel like a sun burn a couple of days afterwards. The hair cut is so so. I leave here with somewhat wet hair and so much dye that I have to wash my own hair twice when I get home and I have ruined my own towels on more then one occasion. On the up side, the hair color is great and they will give a hand treatment while doing your hair. Samson & Delilah's, I pay the same here as I do at the other two salons for a stylist that has only a couple years experience. Again, She is very nice. She can trim but my hair cut has lost it's style and shape after 6-9 months of coming here. The color is not what I really wanted and I always leave here with wet hair and a lot of dye still in my hair. they do give a foot soak while shampooing but who cares when your paying good money for mediocre hair. With all these salons I have tried in detail to tell them what I like and don't like. I have also gone the other way and kept my mouth shut to see how they would do going totally on their own judgement. I have yet to walk out of these salons with a good color and cut with dry, dye free hair all rolled into one appointment. For as much as these places charge you would think you could get a great color and cut without the wet hair and all the leftover dye! I am begging for someone to tell me where and to whom I can go for a really great cut and color!!!!! Please let me know!! read more

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time today and got a couples massage, personalized facials, and pedicures. I wish I could remember the name of my esthetician as she was incredibly professional and personable. Every specialist you encounter is so accommodating and you're truly made to feel valued as a customer. My massage was deeply therapeutic, my pedicure was thorough and polished, but what impressed me the most was my facial. I answered questions about my current skin care regimen as the esthetician examined my face and suggested adjustments to my routine. She then proceeded to personalize and preform a multi-faceted facial (cleansing, exfoliation, mask, serum, moisturizer) that transformed my skin. I have mild rosacea in my cheeks, which she explained in detail exactly how my personalized facial would correct. Six hours later my skin is still radiant and not a pink cheek in sight. I should also note that my boyfriend, who suffers from persistent acne, was extremely satisfied with his facial as well. He hasn't had much luck following any skincare regimen and I can tell that he looks forward to seeing results from his new personalized routine. We plan on returning on a monthly basis. The experience is pricey. But in my opinion, you get what you pay for in both the quality of services performed and the incredible hospitality. read more

Love my girl! She does a great job on my highlights and cut every time. I have come to her for three years. The one time I didn't like the highlight color, I came back the next day and she corrected it for free and didn't make me feel bad or awkward. I still continually come to her. This salon has a reputation for being pricier than others. But they serve wine, pop, water, and more than just the service you are here for. Also, the interior is very nice and clean. I bought my daughter a Brazilian Blowout. It was suppose to last 12 weeks. It only lasted 2 DAYS!! She did everything they told her to do, such as not washing her hair for a specified time. It cost $220 for the blowout plus $40 for products. I have called for 2 weeks and the receptionist keeps telling me she will have the stylist call me back....which I still have not received that call. HUGE waste of money! read more

I've been going there for several years now for haircuts and other services, and they've been nothing but unfailingly polite, professional, and great. I've had a variety of stylists over the years, and I've never left feeling unhappy or dissatisfied with my haircut or styles. The stylists are professional and friendly, and they do a nice job giving me simple, clean, flattering styles for my hair. My husband came with me once, and we both got great haircuts and paraffin wax treatment for our hands. I went to get a gel pedicure. I had gel on my toes from a previous pedicure. I was given an appointment with Mary. After waiting 20 minutes for Mary to show me back- it was obvious that she was not in a great mood. She was glaring and rolling her eyes at the chair next to me. She prepped my toes to remove the gel. As she began to remove the gel, she said that gel is never this hard to remove (I've been getting gel for several years- this was not different than usual). She then indicated that the product used on my toes was inferior and implied that I had a "sub par" pedicure. She informed me that she would be charging me extra for having to scrape off the gel. After finishing 1 foot, grimacing, glaring, and huffing at me as she worked, she said she had a nerve condition and couldn't proceed. As I stood up, I said ok. She said, well I have a nerve condition in a very hasty tone. I explained to her that I had never been treated more rudely in my entire life. She denied being rude. She also denied saying that my pedicure was "sub par." As I went to the front desk, I let them know that she refused to help me, that she had been rude and refused to continue because of her nerve condition. They never offered to get a manager or to find someone else to finish what Mary had failed to do. I spent almost 3 hours of my time to be left in a worse spot than when I arrived. He was great. However, he only accepted cash or check and it was more than the listed price,I think it was wrong for the receptionist to allow me to book this massage session without informing me of the independent contractor (who basically rents a room), the higher fee, and the method of payment. Got a brazilian wax at Christina and Co and it was absolutely horrible! The waxing room was filthy! The bed that you lay on has a sheet that has previous wax from other clients on it, it is dirty and I couldn't help to think about all the other clients that lay there naked on the SAME sheet. The lady that waxed me dripped hot wax on my legs and didn't offer to wipe it off, she missed a fairly large portion of hair, and all she could talk about was how and whenI should book my next appt with her! I decided I needed a pedicure before vacation and couldn't get into my usual salon. I decided to try Christina's Salon having not been there in years. I wanted a full pedicure and made my appointment. Unfortunately, due to a phone call from a relative, I ran about 5 minutes late. I apologized profusely to the nail tech. She was very quite and proceeded to start my pedicure. Found out that I didn't schedule the full pedicure, just a "spa" pedicure. I said I wanted s full one and mentioned that when I called. Was told ,"sorry" , tell them next time. When I called to make the appointment, no one said they had different levels. Guess I should have known? The nail tech proceeded to do my pedicure without saying a thing to me at all. I even tried to start a conversation, but to no avail. She didn't seem upset, just didn't talk at all. I don't think I've ever been to a salon where the people who work there don't at least ask how you are? So weird. I was really looking forward to a relaxing pedicure and got half of one. . Don't think I'll be back. Just going back to my regular salon and making my appointment earlier! UNBELIEVABLY DISAPPOINTED! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! My husband bought me a giftcard for a massage here for my birthday. I'm working full time and in grad school (very stressed out!!) Somehow in the shuffle of cleaning the house for my party, we lost the dang gift card. I was about to dig through the trash until my hubby said, "Don't worry. I have the receipt." He then called and they said it was going to be okay and to bring in the receipt. This was Monday. The trash comes on Wednesday. On Thursday (today), we got a call saying that we were screwed and we would not be getting a replacement giftcard or anything of the sort. I have scoliosis and this was something I've been doing for a while as therapy. I cannot express my disdain and disappointment. The staff was rude, there aren't any "managers," and Chris(tina) would not even talk on the phone to us. Extremely disappointed. I decided to spend a little money on myself with a cut and highlights. I was placed with the highest stylist they had. Which was fine. Showed her what I wanted. 3 1/2 hours later I left the salon crying in my car. I asked for a long bob cut and red and blonde highlights. I left with a bowl cut and no highlights that I can see or anyone else who has looked at my hair. I chose them because they are a "high end salon" with the advanced design stylist. I would never spend that much money on myself let alone my hair. I thought I would walk out feeling amazing. Not disappointed and ashamed that I spent that much money with nothing to even show for it. I was charged for 3 colored highlights and my hair just looks my natural color all the way around. I showed up to my appointment 10 minutes early, sat in her chair she trimmed my hair and placed me in another chair to dry, while she cut other ppl hair. I sat by myself for an hour and 15 minutes before she came back to me. She told me she could hurry and have me out by 230 which would be 3 hours in the salon. She finished my hair an told me how beautiful all the colors were. Made me stand in front of the window to see them. I seen nothing. I told her I didn't see anything she told me to wait til I got in the sun. They would all jump out at me. I still seen nothing. I went to my car and cried. I had to pay a babysitter to watch my children to be completely disappointed. When I got home. The babysitter said I thought you were getting your hair done. I told her I did and she felt so bad for me. I will be going back to tanglz and bangz to have them do my hair in the future. read more

A total shot in the dark, I made an appointment at the westside salon after moving to the area. The stylist was perfectly fine at recreating the cut and color of my previous hairdresser (with her color recipe), although I think she could have spent a bit more time on the cut. I got a very odd vibe in the chair, however. Nobody around us spoke to each other. I'm used to lots of chatter between hairdressers and clients, but it was as though it was everyone's first visit, and they were shy. Made me wonder if C&C gets lots of first visits and not so many repeats. Also, the young ladies behind the reception desk are snooty as heck. C'mon, girls, you work in a salon that is in the parking lot of a Walmart in a mid-size Midwest town. You're not booking appointments for an A-list hairdresser in New York City, so quit acting like it. You do not need to act as though I'm putting you out when I call for an appointment or directions to your shop. A little friendly customer service might have kept me from moving on to the next salon. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I had someone take my daughter here to get a pixie style hair cut. Her hair was long. It's my understanding the stylist lectured her on how she would have to upkeep this look and that it won't look like the picture if she doesn't. My daughter and I already had this conversation. First, it's not their place to tell my child. Second, she ended up cutting it short to how she thought it should be and Later I was informed I could bring her in if I wanted it shorter. Basically she didn't give her anything close to the cut at all. What she did is basically put s bowl over her head and cut. It looks horrible. I sent a message to the owner, and had to follow up with a phone call to insure I received a reply back. I told her that I would like to come in for a refund ($50), and her salon has lost all credibility with me and I would not let anyone there touch her hair again. I would bring her back to Chicago to get it done. I had provided pics to her and she can clearly see how my child received a bowl cut, and not even close to what was asked of the stylist. The response I Received was a voice mail stating she would not give a refund but I Could bring my child in to get the cut we asked for in the first place. First, I will never let anyone from this salon touch any of my children's hair or mine. Second, I live in Chicago not Lafayette. I called back to the number she supplied and it basically went to the salon and she is no where to be found. This place, looking at the reviews now, clearly has no idea what customer service is and takes no accountability for any errors they make. The customer is NEVER right here. If your looking for a good cut I would suggest sports clips or super cuts. Don't let the fact they place says salon and spa confuse you. It's not worth it. read more

In desperate need of a change, I just decided to give this place a try. The hairdresser seemed to comprehend what I wanted, but did NOT deliver. She did show me what my hair was looking like as she was cutting...but when I told her that it wasn't what I wanted, she didn't know how to take the devastating news. I told her again what I wanted- even showed her pictures...She began to cut again, but it was only a shorter version of what I had seen before. AGAIN I told her that I didn't like it and where I wanted it shorter or longer for MY styling purposes--she told me that we were out of time and needed to move on to the next client. WOW....for the amount you pay for a cut, you should be able to get what you ask for and if not, find someone more competent than yourself to get the job done. Since then, I have talked with numerous others, and found that they had similar experiences. Not having their expectations met and those being asked to leave because they had another customer waiting.
