My father moved here to the independent living less than a year ago (rate for non refundable…read moredeposit was $2500) and has had so many issues that I am throwing away that money and putting a new $2500 on a new facility to get him out of here. Despite all the issues, I don't have this kind of money to waste in one year but his health has deteriorated dramatically by the lack of good nutrition in the dining room. At this time, at least seven other groups are moving out this month - so very high residential turnover because the food. You pay $2900 for a one bedroom with horrible food. Go shop around somewhere for the same money and get better food. Don't throw away your deposit like I have to by moving it your loved one there. Most aren't local and can't go take food and visit almost daily like I could and it is super unfortunate as the building has potential with nice layout and floor plans with beautiful trees. Additionally I received a call one day asking when he was moving because they rented out his place of which I had paid for through the entire month already. So I'm addition to keeping my $2500 they were planning to work on double dipping on the property we rented. He gave his notice that he would be vacating on or before a certain date late June. So Mid June they had decided they were going to assume his 30 day notice was from the date he was considerate enough to put his notice in, not the date we were moving. The site director is young and nice, but doesn't have the support to run a facility alone and the seasoned director who is supposed to be in charge is never around either. First the food has small portions, generally cold with horrible quality. He sends me pictures and I feel horrible that he can't get enough to eat. I made my way up the chain and called corporate office. The response was a call from the local cook. He didn't really care. No one from the leadership team called. He has had diarrhea at least five times since moving in and has lost at least ten pounds. Bees continue to congregate and he was told they would get to it when they can. He is allergic. See the pic right outside his window. He doesn't do activities but they seem nice enough. He doesn't use the transportation but I'm sure it works fine as well. He will be moving to a brand new facility with lots of light, encouraged use of the on property grill as well as gourmet food selections. He couldn't use the grill at Sunrise when he wanted despite what we were told during our tour. It was not an option to have use of the grill whenever he wanted it. The activities director (Mary) was the glue that held everything together and encouraged positivity throughout and she is no longer there and the vibe has just become bleak. Finally, we had two full bottles of medicine go missing and was reported but nothing was done.

They're very self-centered dishonest and underqualified to manage anything. They've made it a toxic workplace and most of the residents don't like them at all. The staff for all three sections are caring people who go out of their way to accommodate the residents needs and wants. The activities are varied, and the Director is always open for new things. We have several exercise classes, games of all kinds, bingo, and outings. We also have. Activities around the pool. Last summer we had kayak races right in the pool. The food is constantly changing and improving. Our Director of dining even solicits some residents recipes to try. My apartment is very comfortable and kept clean by our housekeeping staff, and if anything is broken the maintenance is right on the spot. I am very happy here at the Enclave at Gilbert.

We were set up to move my Mom into Pennington Gardens this Monday, but was suddenly informed last…read morenight that my Mom can no longer move into the facility, ever, based on incomplete data from their nurse. Over the past month we have searched for a facility to take care of my Mom due to a continued decline in memory and reached out to their director Susan and was able to secure a room in their "memory care" wing of the facility. During the process, their nurse met with my Mom and had contacted her PCP for information and up until yesterday they became concerned that my Mom was on a antibiotic for a medical condition that she no longer has (tested negative early April). When I asked what my Mom's PCP told them I was informed they had left a message an they did not respond. In literal a few hours we went from moving in on April 6 to "sorry, we can never take your Mom, but can help you find a place". Please note that we have already given the notice at my Mom''s current facility. The worse part is that I never spoke with the nurse. All of my Mom's health concerns and denial came their director on site contacting me. The question becomes: do you want your loved one in a place where their director and nurse can make decisions like this in a vacuum and apply them to your already stressful situation.

I had my Mom there for approximately 2 years. They were wonderful with her. It is kept very clean…read more Not smelly. The attendants were wonderful with her. Even on Christmas, when I stopped by, 2 of them were playing the guitar and singing to her. They have an activities coordinator. They try hard, but a lot of the people are not very interested. Each home has about 14 people in it. Each villa has it's own cook. Staff is very responsive. I felt very good about the care my Mom received. As in any assisted living, there will be turnover. These people work tirelessly. I would recommend them to anyone.
