In many retirement communities, the assisted living residents are separated, and as such feel like second class citizens. At McDowell Village, independent and assisted living are involved in the same activities and eat in the same dining room. And what a dining room--thank you to the wonderful Rosa Guzman who knows every resident's name and has something lovely to say every meal! Many of the assisted living caregivers are kind, understanding and caring. Thank you to Veronica, Ashlee, Vicki, Mina, Bibi, Araceli, Joshua and Jesse. I would mention that even though we filled his pill case every week, my father was unable to take his medicines himself. For this reason, we signed up for Med help. However, it is labor intensive for the family/physician. We would like to thank the staff at McDowell Village for all the help we received during my father's stay.

We have never had any problems. The front gate is secure with a gate and security guards. Many people here are just part time residents, here for the winter. We call them snowbirds. This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. The accomodations were just amazing. My parents stayed in one of the efficiency apartments and it was so nice that they felt like they were at home. Because of my fathers dementia he couldn't really go to the cafeteria so my mother was able to order meals and have them delivered and the food was wonderful. Paula, my parents favorite CNA, and the rest of the medical team was so patient with my father and, I feel, truly loved him. Even the janitorial staff was wonderful. I can't thank the CItadel staff enough for making my dads tranistion much easier and being so warm and kind to my parents. I just can't imagine a better place to recommend. XOXO

BEDBUGS! The whole facility! 7 years straight! They cant get rid of them after trying almost…read moreeverything. Notice the new carpet inside. That was the last attempt to get rid of the bugs. My dad and his room mate were crawling with them. In their hair laying eggs, in the bedding, clothes, covered! Your loved one will be bagged up and carelessly thrown into another room for 7 days while they kill the bugs in their own room. Over and over. Rude staff that leaves people hollering in their rooms for hours...they dont answer the emergency buttons and friends of my dad died alone calling for help that never came. Poor food quality, rental hikes sometimes double without any advance notice, meds not given to most of them on time, countless excuses, zero entertainment and the place is filthy and stinks of urine everywhere. Horrible! Even if you hate your parents, this place is too much!! Last year the laundry room caught fire and the entire place had to be evacuated into the street since noone ever cleaned the lint traps. fun fun. Myself and the nurses that came in to work with my dad said over and over this place needs to be shut down. The front desk ladies are trained to have great big smiles.....its all a load of crap. Don't fall for this place. All the residents can only complain with nothing ever getting better. Pure hell hole! Sickens me!

After our tour at the Oasis, she knew this was where she wanted to be and we agreed. We loved the size of her apartment, that it had a washer and dryer, the food and the dining room, the activities(she has played bingo and pokeno for years) and loves Nicole, the social director and for how clean and pretty the landscaping and common areas are. Mom loved the servers in the dining room, the maintenance workers, who did everything from changing light bulbs and filters to air conditioning problems or whatever timely. A huge plus for us was that The Oasis at Mesa Palms is independently owned vs corporate. Jeremy, the owner, has been a pleasure to work with and is very patience and has a great attitude. Mom was at The Oasis all during covid and I was very impressed with the procedures that had in place to take care of all the residents there. Mom always felt proud of her "home" whenever any of her family and friends would come and visit her. Her grandchilden loved to have lunch or dinner with her there because of the desserts and it seemed a little fancy. When comparing pricing, the Oasis was very fair. My mom is now 92 and her health has made us make the decision to have to end her time at The Oasis, but what a great almost 8 years it has been Thanks again to everyone for taking such great care of her and for all the joy she had there.
