We worked with Katy to plan our wedding--would definitely recommend 10/10! My husband and my wedding was on a tight timeline with only eight months to plan it. Katy did a phenomenal job getting everything together, keeping us on track, and securing amazing vendors! We're also both lawyers and are used to things being well organized, but Katy consistently went above and beyond. We also do not live in Chicago, and Katy made it so easy to get everything done remotely and be our eyes and ears on the ground. The biggest benefit of working with Katy and the Christine Janda team, however, was that they make truly beautiful events! Katy and Giora created such a beautiful space for our wedding reception with their floral and design expertise, incorporating Chicago wildflowers and our backgrounds into the venue at the University Club of Chicago. The captain on staff at the University Club even told us at the end of the night how it was the most beautiful reception he had seen at the Club, and he had worked over 200 weddings there. I don't even know how to put into words how wonderful it was working primarily with Christine and Kendall along with every other member of the CJDE team along the way. Our first requirement when looking for a planning team was kindness and second creativity. Check, check, and then so much more! From start to finish, we knew we didn't want a traditional wedding, and the CJDE team took our nuggets of requests and ran with them in ways we never could have imagined, giving us the most unique, joyful, special, beautiful, memorable celebration we could ask for--as cliche as it sounds, it truly was the best weekend of our lives! Starting from finding us the perfect venue, caterers, band, and more . . . you can tell they are so loved in the industry. This is no surprise, as they really are the kindest team. Christine and Kendall understood that we wanted to honor the marriage first and then just celebrate (read dance, drink, and party all night . . .) our special love, our love ones, and give our guests an amazing Chicago weekend. On a personal note, I lost my mother 2 years before the wedding, and Christine made sure honoring her in our ceremony was a priority. Then 2 months before the wedding, I unexpectedly lost my father. Christine was my emotional lifeline and became a friend, therapist, safe space, and confidante during this time leading up to the wedding. She went behind the scenes with my husband and planned, last minute, special touches to honor my dear dad and make sure I felt both of my parents' presence. I could go on and on with how many special moments Christine, Kendall, and the rest of the team gave us. While planning my wedding, I knew I couldn't go into the day alone and have the burden and worry on my shoulders of every little detail falling into place. Entrusting Christine and her team with that responsibility was the best thing I ever did to ensure that my husband, my family, and I could have the best day possible. CJDE did such an amazing job of listening to us throughout the planning process and working with every other vendor to make the day seamless, easy, and most importantly, enjoyable. Just an example of their excellence... I had this grandiose idea of surprising my husband with a bagpipe precessional before I walked down the aisle. Christine took the task on like a champ, she coordinated with everyone behind the scenes for me, kept it a secret with me (even from my parents for 4 MONTHS!), and gave me the confidence that this would go off without a glitch. Hiring Christine and her team was hands down the most important decision we made for our wedding! I have been procrastinating this review since our wedding day in hopes I could find the words to properly express my gratitude as well as my recommendation for Christine and her team as your event planner, designer and florist. Although no words could ever touch the peak of the experience Christine created, I will attempt to hopefully express the profound magic this visionary created for our most special wedding day. Christine and her team really went above and beyond, well...above and beyond. Although full of emotion, budgets and opinions... The planning experience was the opposite of stressful. I felt not only relaxed, but also excited the entire time. Whether it was initial big picture venue selection down to the micro details towards the end, I felt genuinely energized and excited. I felt guided- even if there was something for me to do or think of, I would be alerted at the right time. She might call her self a planner but she is way more . She's really an advocate- with all the intricacies- most of which she doesn't even bother you with, I felt thoroughly accommodated. There is much more to it than coordinating details- it's constant guiding, leading, urging, knowing where to suggest and where to chime in. She misses nothing. Skips no beats. And at the heart of all of it- was her drive to nail OUR style. To truly listen to our vision and somehow put her magical touch on it to bring something we didn't even know we wanted to life in a way that was "so us". The originality and creativity of our wedding design was the most thoughtful collection of textures, colors and details- collected in a way that was parts what we wanted and nothing we could have imagined at the same time. Christine is a visionary. Everyone was incredibly communicative from start to finish. Any question was answered promptly and enthusiastically- although she has numerous clients, I somehow felt like I was the only one. Still not sure how they do that! Their leadership style is a combination of delightfully pleasant with a touch of efficiently commanding - both of which you need leading your wedding day and all the days before it. She gave me tips and tricks along the way- whether it was an idea about lipstick or a surprise detail for my husband or advice on how to manage personalities-she provided etiquette guidance in the most modern way, tailored to me. One of my favorite things was how relentlessly present we were able to be because Christine was at the helm. I pictured the whole day whooshing by. The "didn't remember" or the "couldn't eat"- but we were able to be fully immersed in every moment. Even many of my Guests all said how well planned it was and enjoyed being guided. Christine Janda and her team did the flowers and design for my husband's and my wedding in May of 2016. Our reception was held at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. Christine is quite simply the best there is. Prior to the wedding, we discussed color palette, types of flowers, and the overall look that I wanted. Christine's ideas and suggestions were wonderful. She advised me about many details beyond the floral design. On our wedding day, she not only brought our discussions to life but she far exceeded my expectations. Our reception was breathtaking. It was as if that late spring day had come into the ballroom in the form of the most exquisite arrangements we had ever experienced. All the guests and even the staff commented on how lovely it looked. Sweet peonies, big, beautiful roses, lacy parrot tulips, and many other flowers and foliage graced the room in delightful hues. Christine added dimension with tall, clear vases topped by glorious arrangements. These tall arrangements were surrounded by smaller vases of flowers and charming votive holders of varying heights. Christine's team also did casually elegant place cards and menus in complimentary colors. It was unforgettable. No detail escapes her. She viewed a photo of my wedding dress and designed my bouquet to coordinate with the dress. It was perfect. A bonus is that Christine is as lovely a person as her flowers.
