Christmas tree shops is one of my favorite stores to go to for seasonal decor. Might be my #1 favorite now that pier 1 is closing. There's none close to my area though so I'm always bugging my husband to come with me to them. We usually always go to the one in DE, but we were coming back from the shore and decided to stop at this location. We rushed back to try to make it before it closed at 9:00. I was looking for some tiki solar statues that I couldn't find at the DE location and I wanted to exchange one that wasn't working well. My husband brought my old one in to exchange, but the lady at the customer service counter said they didn't have them out anymore. I was disappointed but took a look around anyway just to see. This store was really nice and huge compared to the one in Delaware. Everything's very organized, the store was clean. The store actually had bathrooms which I was glad about cause I had to go. I ended up buying a solar clam that I didn't see at the DE store and a double shepherds hook which I've been looking for. I don't know how often we'll be in the area, but if we are I'm definitely making my husband come back, haha. read more

Can't believe this trashy place took sales from AC Moore and helped to put it out of business for this crapy place. Ive only been in there 2x and this time it was to only get quick change for a 20. Mostly all other stores were closed and it was getting close to 9pm. I caught the cashier, a black lady (not sure of here name), as she was about to close the register after giving the last customer change. I quickly say can I please have change for a 20? She turns to me, smirks, closes the register drawer and saws we cant open the register for change and I say that's why I asked when it was open. She then calls over her manager named scott, and im thinking ok good Scott probably has the key and he will open the register and give me change... Scott comes over and says the same thing... He can't open the drawer to give me change. I had never asked that, only if I could get change if the register was open, but it seemed Scotty didn't understand. The correct thing to say would have been "It's against company policy to give any customer change from the register". Then I should have been given the option to purchase something to get the change I needed. I wasn't asking for his quarters just a couple 10s and I was desperate because in deptford on the side of the mall there aren't many options to make change at about 9 pm on a friday. Guy could have took the bill, inspected it with pen and a light to see it was real then gave me change. No way he can get robbed if he checks the bill. Not sure what he was worried about but the fact he couldn't even make a customer change or give them the option to purchase something to make them change he unjustly profiled me... I was hoping Christmas Tree Shops and the deptford store would show me some decency and some good customer service but I guess I was absolutely wrong... Horrible customer service. Came in to return 2 boxed furniture items and went directly to the service counter. After 5 minutes the woman finally turned around and asked what I wanted. When I told her, she tells me that has to be done at a check out register. I turn and the line is 20 plus people deep, snaking around the store and totally in violation of covid protocols as everyone was crowded together. The manager was no where to be seen. So I up and left. No I will have to return another time. But only to complete a return. Not to shop again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised here. It's rare for me to find durable, cost-effective products in this chain. Usually in the past (like in Cherry Hill), I've walked out empty-handed. This was not the case yesterday. I'm in the process of moving back to Jersey and needed to stock up on select items. They have a host of quality stuff at decent rates, just sometimes you need to dig a bit. You'll find a bunch of summer-centric items lining their walls, but you can also find throw pillows (no luck for me because I'm picky) and other random items for your home and kitchen. I was happy to find great prices on bulk coffee. I cut the caffeine from my life for a good two months, but it's pulled me right back in. Now I'm covered for many months to come! I compared the prices to similar stores, and the coffee was way cheaper here. I'll keep this store in mind for future home-related buys. read more

The Worst Customer Service I have ever seen! I had the same experience. When I tried to return something I was also told I had to wait on the register line. Meanwhile , the assistant manager Diane was standing there talking to one of the cashiers. When I asked where the manager was she disappeared and left without assisting the more than 20 people standing in line. The ironic part is that she announced herself as an assistant manager and did not assist. I hope someone in authority reads this and takes action. read more

I was just told they didn't have a customer service register. I waited in line for 15 minutes and after I checked out I forgot something and was told I had to wait in line again! I figured since there was a huge sign that said customer service over a register they could help me. Honestly I work in customer service and I get frustrated too but you don't treat customers like they when you are paid to do a job. I left and didn't get the extra item I wanted so Christmas Tree shop I'm sure you don't care but maybe people would buy more if your employees were nicer. read more

This is my local Christmas Tree Shop. The employees here are friendly and helpful. Even on the busiest day, they have not disappointed. I like the merchandise although sometimes you get what you pay for. It's a little crowded in there but somewhat functional so I try not to roam on busy days, but rather get what I need and get out. Obviously for pricing and merch this store is Boss for Christmas (or any holiday) affordable decor. The "market" space is decent with odd snacks that aren't just anywhere. The quality is good for all things here. read more

Christmas Tree Shops is(are?) a unique novelty store that combines the charm and upbeat atmosphere of Target with the slightly lower prices of a Ross or TJ Maxx. They carry a large variety of products of all sorts; kitschy Americana decorations, summer toys, gourmet foods, furniture, and pretty much anything else that you may want but definitely do not need. Don't be surprised to find yourself leaving with a jar of ginger jelly, some chocolate truffles, a bird feeder, a new iPhone case and some pool noodles. So in theory, this should be a fun place to shop! My chief complaint, and it is a major one, is the cramped feeling I experienced at this particular location. The aisles are extremely tight, to the point where only one cart can roll down them at one time. The checkout areas are particularly packed with bargain bins for last minute impulse purchases, creating an obstacle course of 90 degree turns spaced too closely together. This results in a gridlock of shoppers unable to get out of each other's way as they try to battle their way closer to the understaffed registers. I had made the mistake of shopping here on a Saturday afternoon, which made the uncomfortable layout all the more claustrophobia-inducing. All in all the cheerful and outdoorsy feel of the store was defeated by the oppressive layout. Once I got to the bargain bins near the registers, I was already exhausted and simply gave up trying to fight my way through. I left my products on a shelf so I could walk out without making a purchase. read more

Ok, so the name is a little deceiving. Up until recently I'd never entered one of these shops. Much to my surprise the was nothing Christmas-y about this place in July (my first visit). It's sorta like a cheaper version of Bed Bath and Beyond. Basic decor, candles, kitchen wares etc. there is a section selling all kinds of packaged foods. Party supplies. Basic body care items. You get what I'm saying...... Know what you want or go in with no expectations because finding help on the floor is problematic. So here is why I'm giving it two stars. And let me preface this with I have worked in customer service before. The customer service is abysmal. I went in a bit ago when I was searching high and low for a new set of curtains for my bedroom. Found a set, bought them and immediately realized I should have bought 2 sets. Anyway long story short I had to have a set "special ordered" from the warehouse. I was given a slip and was told it would take about 14 days for them to come in. About a week and a half passed and I called to see if they had come in and was told no, they hadn't. A week later I call d again and was told again they weren't in. When I asked why (because at this point it's been close to 20 days) I was passed to a manager. Said manager told me they had come in just a few days after I had ordered them (so they had come in on both occasions when I called). I was told they had called ONCE but since they couldn't leave a message, they put them back on the floor. The manager did find the set I wanted and said he would but them at the customer service desk. Not two hours later I made my way to the store. A couple was ahead of me at the CS desk so I stood patiently behind them. When they moved on, I stepped up to the counter and the employee walked away to a nearby counter. Two employees walked up to her (and they did see me) but neither asked if I needed help. The two additional employees walked away (still obviously seeing me). As the original employer began to walk away from the counter, I had to ask to be helped. Then she barely "looked" for the curtains and said she didn't see them. However, I could see from where I was standing. "Oh" was her response when I pointed them out to her. I got my curtains but will seriously never return to this location. It was the worst and most unorganized customer service experience I've had in a long while. read more

This is regarding the online ordering - NOT the store itself. The store itself is what you would think. Tons of stuff, reasonably priced. Long lines, workers don't know much about merchandise, always things that are not priced.... Have gotten some great things from here. Some not so great. This Christmas I had a MAJOR issue with purchasing a Christmas Tree on Clearance through their website. I purchased a 6 ft Pre lit green tree @ 50% off. All in all it was $68 with shipping. What I received was a 4.5 ft white tree. I double checked my order and confirmation email - it all said that I purchased a 6 ft green tree. I immediately called their customer service and they said that they were sorry and that the tree I wanted was now out of stock. (Well of course it was, it was January and on clearance) She said that she would refund my money but that I had to return the white tree. I was fuming at this point. So I did everything right, the warehouse screwed up and now I have to go return the tree that they sent?? She said that she could send UPS to come pick it up. Still fuming - now I have to coordinate my schedule to meet UPS for something that THEY screwed up?? I was expecting something - a gift card, a credit towards a tree next year, something! They seemed like it was no big deal and I was just Out of luck. After a hung up with the representative, I sent an email to corporate explaining the situation. I received an email back apologizing and stating that they would refund my card and to NOT worry about returning the white tree. That I could just keep it, sell it, whatever. I still expected some sort of compensation for the crap that they did, but I let it go. Now weeks later I received a note from UPS saying that it was their last attempt. WHAT???? At that point I called my credit card to see if they had refunded the money. They had not. I then called Christmas Tree Shop customer service yet again and the girl I spoke with told me that they were not going to refund me until I returned the item! WHAT??? So why did I receive an email stating that I didn't have to return the item. Asked for her supervisor - he seemed baffled at the whole thing and said that the email was right and they should have refunded me. He was going to do it right then. At this point I had to ask for some kind of compensation - emails, phonecalls, a warehouse screw up, not being able to get the item I wanted until literally a year from now.... I deserve something. You know what he offered?? 20% off my next online order. Gee thanks - that makes me feel better. What they should have done is give me a $49.99 credit towards a tree next year since THEY sent the wrong one and then ran out. So frustrating - makes me not even want to set foot in the store ever again. read more

Like the store but the customer service is atrocious. After being wrung up I realized I was not given the discount price on an item so when I asked the lady who checked me out about it she said "whoops I can't do anything about it, you'll have to go to customer service." This was irritating because it was HER mistake and it had happened LESS than a minute ago but I was directed to the long customer service line anyway. After waiting, the employee who helped me there didn't say a single word to me, even after I asked her a direct question, and she didn't look me in the eye. Their mistake and somehow they managed to make me feel like a piece of shit. Will not be going back. Thanks assholes! read more

Love this store! Absolutely great place to buy all your seasonal items. The products are great for the price. I agree with another review that was posted,very easy to walk out spending $100. I've done this on a couple of occasions myself. Overall definitely a great place to shop. read more
