Guess nothing has changed despite the cosmetic update. ANY other market will save you SIGNIFICANT money. The prices here are frightening. That said, if you think about it as a totally awesome 7-11, you may be able to forgive yourself for buying a few things in a pinch.

Everything sat where it was supposed to sit, which felt almost unnatural for a store this size. Despite the sprawl, I found what I needed quickly, as if the shelves had been arranged by some benevolent hand that wanted me to succeed. Self checkout was quick and painless. The machines did their work. I did mine. Nobody complained. Out in the lot, there was plenty of parking. Rows and rows of empty spaces waiting for people to fill them with carts of back to school supplies and impulse buys. I did not interact with a single human being during my entire time there, nor did I need to. It was efficient. It was ordinary. And in a world that so often makes simple things hard, ordinary felt pretty wonderful. Four stars.

Dry goods down the initial aisle followed by produce. Sauces, chips and canned stuff in the next aisle, cleaning and the "aisle of awesomeness" full of random stuff, and then frozen and drinks. Easy and consistent. ALDI requires a 25 cent deposit for a shopping cart which you will get back when you return it. And they do not provide free bags for your groceries (and that's a regular thing in New Jersey anyway) so remember to bring your reusable bag or you can take one of their cardboard boxes to carry. It is rare that I have any trouble with any ALDI stuff. Most of it is their own brand and it's good quality at low prices. Better quality and lower prices than Walmart and a better shopping experience, but they don't have absolutely everything. You may have to fill in the rest of your shop elsewhere. The checkout is an interesting blend of self service (you bag) but they ring you up. I like the layout which makes it convenient for you to bag and pay easily.

Because of the aforementioned, I initially opt to not take a car through the store, knowing that when I do, I'll definitively purchase many more items than intended. Reason- there's always a treasure chest of great finds, and items you forgot you need, want to get, or the price is so reasonable, how could you not purchase the item you're drawn to. The Marshalls and HomeGoods store is divided into one space for the former and the latter. The store is maintained extremely well. The store is clean, add organized, which is often difficult because customers believe they have a sense of entitlement wherever they shop, and whatever they decide they don't want is not placed back where it was found, nor the way it was found (on a hanger, hanging from a display, in the correct aisle, shelf, department, etc.). The store is well lit and spacious. In Marshalls you can find clothes from toddlers to adults of any gender, jewelry, accessories, outerwear, workout essentials, confines, perfumes, shoes, luggage, hair care products and appliances, facial and skincare products, toys, collectibles, sports fan gear, and much more. In HomeGoods, there have seasonal and non-seasonable items well organized and displayed. I brought a pomegranate molasses that's impossible to find anywhere else, and it totally changed my brussels sprouts game.! The meats and cheeses are very fresh. The veggies are imported from the Amish. It's hard to find but once you know it, you'll keep going back like me. I've now used the rosewater and different sauces and some of the unique organic grains.
