I stayed here for a night after rafting in Middle fork river.The lodge is a large two story buidling in the middle of a forest miles away from the town. Joe , the owner of the lodge, lives in the top floor and ground floor is the guest house. Staying at his lodge was a unique experience. It really felt like I have been invited to the house of an lod freind of mine. The lodge is a one man show but it's well maintained and organized. I'm planning to visit the lodge again in winter for cross country ski and snowmobile riding. read more

We had a group of 3 couples stay weekend of 2/9/19. We had the lodge to ourselves and we had a fabulous time. The lodge was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Joe was an excellent host. He and his brother worked very hard to make sure we were comfortable, and did a lot of work for us transporting us in their snow cats, and clearing the walkway of snow, and also clearing snow away from our car. This rustic place is up the Foresthill road off I-80 at Auburn, past the little town and off the road so far that you feel like you are lost..but it's pretty, if not remote, nestled in the pine forest of the Tahoe Nat'l Forest, and at 5100 ft elevation, gets plenty of snow in the winter. We were there Sunday night while in Foresthill for a friend's daughter's wedding. We were the only guests, but got a breakfast in the Am fit for a king and queen. Great, if brief, experience here! Stayed last night with family prior to a day of rafting. Beautiful lodge, friendly and helpful owners. Lot of runners passing through here on the way to the Western States Endurance Run. Excellent breakfast this morning--the proprietors clearly take pride in providing amazing food and taking care of their guests. Highly recommended. read more

Stayed here a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by what we came across. A huge log cabin where guests have the entire first floor with charming common areas, a commercial kitchen. Owners live above the guest quarters, so you feel like the whole place is yours. Incredible, remote, quiet. What more could you ask for? I should mention, breakfast is included and Joe really takes this to heart. He cooked breakfast for our family before we headed down to middle fork for a two-day river rafting trip. Joe greeted us upon our return and when we told him we were leaving around 5am the next morning and wouldn't need breakfast, he seemed disappointed he wasn't going to get a chance to cook for us. :) We woke up the next morning at 4:30, to a beautiful basket of muffins and a tray of cut-up fruit. My family and I stayed here in July while we went on a white water rafting trip. Couldn't be happier with our stay. Super comfy you feel like you are a home. Nice and quiet. Liz and Joe are amazing, they made us feel like family. Joe even rescued my husband when he got stuck four wheel driving on the Lodge property. I know this is a winter lodge but 12 of us went in July. It is a 6 bedroom lodge (B&B), each with its own full bath. Talk about leaving it all behind. This place is so tranquil and relaxing. There are 3 adorable dogs on the premises so you can get your pet fix. The owners whipped up a fabulous breakfast for everyone (even making gluten free for one of us) both mornings and then we were free to use the kitchen to prepare our own meals. I would so recommend this place if you want to get away. So many things to recommend this place. read more
