    Wine Tasting Bar!
    Diane C.

7/1/23: We came to Christopher Jacobs because of all the high Yelp ratings. We had a flight. The wine was served at an outdoor booth. The wines are completely different here. One of the white wines was aged in bourbon barrels. The wine tasted like straight bourbon. The red wine, "Deep Roots" tasted incredibly earthy. Drinks such as Mint Juleps, Margarita Slushies and Sangria were available. We didn't order any of these drinks. Unfortunately, the server who poured our flight was blah. She mentioned about a couple of the wines winning awards and really nothing more. The server appeared not to care. I didn't get good vibes here. We were told there were issues with food delivery not showing up. So glad, we ate at an earlier winery. A lot of outdoor seating was available. The winery did have a singer and a guitarist. Parking area is available. Stop in this winery, if you're in the mood for frozen drinks. That's all I can say. 2 Stars.

This sounds crazy but I like the Brooklyn beer better than the wine! You need to hang outside- inside - no way. Beautiful grounds & a fantastic fire pit were great on a cold October day. Great modern music was playing & they have a food truck. The wine was too sweet for me but I enjoyed the atmosphere, talking to lots of people & enjoying a beer/ I'd come back!

Beautiful winery, vast outside area, lovely staff. We came on a beautiful fall Saturday and ordered wine flights. The view is beautiful and they have plenty of outside tables. You can bring your own food. Lovely little place, we will be back

Such a beautiful place! The view is perfect. I tasted everything!! Staff was very friendly highly recommend

We just absolutely love this winery! The wines & other offerings, the owners & the amazing views all add to a beautiful afternoon in the countryside. Definitely give it a try!!

Stop no. 4 Last stop for my party of three's weekend winery adventure. Their tasting bar is outdoor with a tent tarp for shielding against the blazing sun as we sipped various wines overlooking the scenic green peaceful grounds. Our female server was informative, knowledgeable and friendly with a humble tone. Ciders are also available. Unfortunately, the tasting glasses do not have their company logo printed.

Our day started with a Chinese tea ceremony in the barn and then a catered lunch. About 6:30pm, the ceremony with a live music started followed by passed hors d'oeuvre, fresh oysters, and wood fired pizza. The wood fired pizza was very delicious and I enjoyed the blackened shrimp and the arancini. I tried the cider and the rosé, but they were too dry for my taste. Then at 7:45pm, we went into the reception pavilion. The menu consisted of a salad as first course, a duet plate of salmon and beef short rib for entree, and dessert. The summer citrus salmon with the multi grain pilaf was very good. After first dance, father and daughter dance, mother and son dance, and speeches, the DJ told us to step outside. After a few minutes, the sky exploded with light. It was a beautiful fireworks display from the hillside. The bathrooms were stocked with essentials in the toiletry baskets. Red Maple Vineyard offers a rustic barn and reception pavilion, massive green grounds, and a beautiful garden.

It's been incredible to watch how much they've grown and expanded over the years. As someone who lives nearby, it's nice to see a local place become such a popular destination. Today, they offer seasonal events, live music, lawn games, expanded tasting spaces, food trucks, and even the Tree House experience, which I've done a couple of times and really enjoyed. The ciders are consistently delicious, and the food trucks always offer great options. My favorite time to visit is definitely the fall. Sitting by the fire pits with a fresh cider and warm cider doughnuts is hard to beat. That said, weekends can get extremely busy, so I usually recommend visiting during the week if you want a more relaxed experience. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it's become very crowded. When the tour buses arrive, the atmosphere can start to feel more like a tourist attraction than the laid-back orchard it once was. I think limiting attendance a bit during peak times would create a more enjoyable experience for everyone. I'm also not a big fan of having to rent the sidelines, as it adds to that commercialized feel instead of the relaxed winery atmosphere that many people are looking for. Overall, it's still one of my favorite places to gather with friends and family. The beautiful setting, excellent ciders, seasonal activities, and welcoming atmosphere keep us coming back year after year.

I say, My companion…read moreand I decided to venture up to America's Oldest Winery and we are rather pleased that we did! The Grounds are a series of mostly nineteenth and 20th century buildings which were improved and expanded upon as the winery's business and clientele grew. The tour and tasting were incredibly affordable at only $25 per-person and definitely worth the cost with an average of 5 glasses of wine and an hour long tour. That said, a couple of things could be improved upon. Firstly, our guide could have spoken much louder as we had a large group and certain factoids were difficult to hear. Secondly, the majority of the tour takes place underground in their active and historic cellars which, sadly, smell quite strongly of mold. Finally, the wine tasting was conducted without a glass of water to cleanse our palates. Instead, we were provided with a rather skint packet of oyster crackers. Despite the few shortcomings; the grounds and above-ground areas are well-organized, clean, and well-maintaned. The staff are courteous and the wines sampled were excellent, I even purchased a few bottles to take home. I hope to return another time when there are different wines in rotation! Good show!
