Our day started with a Chinese tea ceremony in the barn and then a catered lunch. About 6:30pm, the ceremony with a live music started followed by passed hors d'oeuvre, fresh oysters, and wood fired pizza. The wood fired pizza was very delicious and I enjoyed the blackened shrimp and the arancini. I tried the cider and the rosé, but they were too dry for my taste. Then at 7:45pm, we went into the reception pavilion. The menu consisted of a salad as first course, a duet plate of salmon and beef short rib for entree, and dessert. The summer citrus salmon with the multi grain pilaf was very good. After first dance, father and daughter dance, mother and son dance, and speeches, the DJ told us to step outside. After a few minutes, the sky exploded with light. It was a beautiful fireworks display from the hillside. The bathrooms were stocked with essentials in the toiletry baskets. Red Maple Vineyard offers a rustic barn and reception pavilion, massive green grounds, and a beautiful garden.

That said, weekends can get extremely busy, so I usually recommend visiting during the week if you want a more relaxed experience. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it's become very crowded. When the tour buses arrive, the atmosphere can start to feel more like a tourist attraction than the laid-back orchard it once was. I think limiting attendance a bit during peak times would create a more enjoyable experience for everyone. I'm also not a big fan of having to rent the sidelines, as it adds to that commercialized feel instead of the relaxed winery atmosphere that many people are looking for. Overall, it's still one of my favorite places to gather with friends and family. The Grounds are a series of mostly nineteenth and 20th century buildings which were improved and expanded upon as the winery's business and clientele grew. The tour and tasting were incredibly affordable at only $25 per-person and definitely worth the cost with an average of 5 glasses of wine and an hour long tour. That said, a couple of things could be improved upon. Firstly, our guide could have spoken much louder as we had a large group and certain factoids were difficult to hear. Secondly, the majority of the tour takes place underground in their active and historic cellars which, sadly, smell quite strongly of mold. Finally, the wine tasting was conducted without a glass of water to cleanse our palates. Instead, we were provided with a rather skint packet of oyster crackers. Despite the few shortcomings; the grounds and above-ground areas are well-organized, clean, and well-maintaned. The staff are courteous and the wines sampled were excellent, I even purchased a few bottles to take home. I hope to return another time when there are different wines in rotation! Good show!
