He had to return to school that same day. We have a Christus healthcare plan which include one free pediatric eye exam and one free pair of glasses. I received a bill from Christus for the exam and was charged $356.00 by Dr. John Ketcher. It was adjusted by Christus to $108.00 for the visit. I am nearly 60 years old and have worn glasses since the 3rd grade; and, I have never been charged $356.00 for an examination. I have never been charged separately for the doctor visit when getting an eye examination. I have made numerous call to the billing department who can't explain how a free eye examination costs $108.00. This clinic is a scam. I will not use them ever again. I emphatically do not recommend this clinic, and I especially do not recommend this doctor. Additionally, the staff was very rude and abrasive. At the end, I purchased contact lenses from their optical department. After I left, I realized it seemed expensive. The next day, I called and asked if they had used my vision insurance which I had provided at check-in to which they responded they sell their glasses and contacts at cash only and do not use insurance. They failed to disclose this information at any point during the check-in process or at the optical department when making my purchase. They also disclosed they cannot provide a refund given the order had already been placed. The customer service is suboptimal and I believe this information should be disclosed to patients ahead of time. Beware.

I had spoken with Jen before hand and explained that my friend could not use drops as he had a very allergic reaction to them that had put him in the emergency room before. She said if they could not examine him without drops she woud let us know before hand. We got there on time, filled out papers and then another women who worked there told him that they would not see him without using drops. That is very unethical. My friend has been blind for years with cataracts and we were so looking forward to him getting help. They should have let us know before driving all that distance.

Heaton Eye Dr started billing me for a visit…read morethat they coded incorrectly to my insurance company and I sent in three different times, information to show where my insurance approved the visit however the eye dr billing did not code it correctly. Because they didn't want to correct it on the eye Dr side they decided to send my bill to their collections company to collect the amount because they didn't want to be bothered with fixing it and resubmitting it correctly. Poor patient service for sure. Will never use them again nor recommend them to anyone to use. Their billing dept even said at the end that they had been having issues with their billing and were trying to fix those issues and with the collections dept. . Well you lost a patient at the patients expense. I have never had anything go to a collections and for no reason or warning either. Poor customer service. Shame on Heaton Eye. The kicker was the other bill from my first apt. Was coded correctly and my insurance covered it just fine. The woman I spoke to this morning said yeah she saw that but still was fine taking my money instead of resolving their error on their end. Shameful at best........

Even though the appointment was for him- I had many questions concerning his health- from blood pressure to snoring to anxiety. dr Haygood answered all my question and went into great detail! He spent a long amount of time with us and I never felt rushed. Even after all my lengthy questions he took the time to look me in the eye and say what a pleasure it was to meet me before he left. I am going to tell all my friends- I've been to specialist that haven't shown as much care and attention to their patients as he does- and he's a family practitioner! We will be seeing him again for sure!
