The scheduling is ridiculous. My elderly mother-in-law had a10:30am appointment with Dr. Bochow. The appointment was made 3 months in advance. We weren't called back until 11:40am. When I inquired about the wait, one nurse rudely stated they were short-staffed and that we just needed to expect a 2-3 hour wait every time. Customer oriented environment is non-existent. To think it is ok to make patients wait that long for a routine appointment that was scheduled 3 months in advance is unacceptable! read more

SURPRISE! The Doctor was excellent, but as I learned AFTER, my appointment was not 'Credentialed' with the same insurance, Superior Vision, I had used with them for the last 10 years. So....instead of a 'modest co-pay' they charged me FULL PRICE $250!!! I've reached our to their billing department. Turns out the Eye Doctor I HAD BEEN seeing there, IS Credentialed with Superior Vision, but the Doctor I saw today was not. You would have thought they would have let me know this BEFORE I showed up. I did let the HR Department at the School District know that the faculty should consider going elsewhere unless thet see 1 of the 2 that are still 'credentialed' with our Insurance... Just TERRIBLE....on the Communications from thier side....they knew what insurance I'd used for 10 years....and yet, no one said a word... read more

I've been coming to the doctors here for some time, and I wouldn't even think of changing Dr. Bochow and Dr. Lash. They are simply the best, ands what's more, easy to like on a personal basis. I finally was able to buy some glasses after my vision has stabilized and my first pair of glasses failed. I'm happy to say they made it right. I hate to judge a business by one employee but in this case, I am going to write about 3. When the optometrist starts with "I am going to try and order you contacts, but the first pair probably won't fit" I should have taken that as a sign. He was right, they did not fit nor did the next 6 pairs. Honestly, after visit number 2, I could tell this was not going well. The doctor talked for over an hour about himself on both appointments. I could not get a question or a word in. When I was leaving, I asked for a manager. A lady came out named Deborah. I begged for another doctor. She said I had started with Doctor Lambson, so I had to stay with him. After weeks of waiting, this doctor promised he was using his favorite lab, that the lab was wonderful, and he would rush the order. (I didn't care about a rush; I just wanted them to fit). The next four orders were wrong with either the fit or with the prescription. By this time, Dr. Lambson was having me pick up the contacts from the optical department and never saw me put them on or look at them on my eyes. We tried repeatedly to leave messages, ask for a callback, or any kind of response. If you are paying $900.00 you want to be able to see. On a more positive note, Dr. Johnson on Broadway looked at my eyes with updated equipment, fitted me with contacts that took about a week to arrive. I can see out of them, and they were under $200. read more

This association is hard to get scheduled and the schedulers can have bad attitudes which doesn't put me a good attitude. I have had an appointment scheduled for 6 months and the DR (Pennell) decides he needs to reschedule and that has led to 3 more months to get in. This appt will be my last with this practice. I will go to another for future appointments. If you like to play games with these people then I recommend them but if you want appointments and treatment in a reasonable time with people who are pleasant and easy to work with then I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Dr. Lambson is the best optometrist I've ever seen!! After getting a glasses prescription from another Dr. that didn't work at all, I went to see Dr. Lambson fearful that I would never be able to see clearly but he identified and corrected the problem right away. He took the time to make sure I was seeing great and all his suggestions were spot-on! i am SO grateful. I thought I would have to give up some activities I love and instead I am seeing better than I have in years. Dr. Lambson is brilliant. read more

I initially was sent to Heaton Eye Associates in Tyler but ended up going to Eye Care Associates of East Texas because Heaton Eye was only interested how much they could charge the patient and their insurance. I paid Heaton my $40 copay and $45 to prep the eyes for a Yag laser procedure. At the same time Heaton charged my insurance co. $200.00 and they have not performed anything at that time. Heaton would also charge me a $250 copay for the use of their clinic. My out of pocket would be $335 with Heaton. Eyecare Associates of East Texas where straight forward with me. When they scheduled me for the Yag laser, I checked in paid my $40 copay, my eyes where dilatated and numbed and the Doctor promptly performed the procedure. I was not charged $250 copay for the use of their facility, and I could have not been happier with the procedure and Dr. Cefalu. I initially went to Heaton Eye Care. Dr. Heaton was up front and said he couldn't help me. He told me the only doctor in town that could help me was Dr. Austin Lash at Eye Care Associates. Dr. Heaton actually called and put me in touch with Dr. Lash. WHAT A BLESSING!!! Dr. Lash resorted my vision. If you need eye surgery - he's your man. I'd give him 100 stars if I could. read more

Our doctor is terrific. But that is overshadowed by office staff that are incompetent and lazy. In the past year we have had constant issues with scheduling including being hung up on repeatedly, told they would call us back which they never do, taking it upon themselves to dismiss and DELETE referrals from other doctors, lying about referral status (stating they never receive a referral when in fact it is in the system). Issues with the staff who process insurance including refusing to verify coverage, denying patients coverage stating insurance won't cover it when in fact insurance has repeatedly insured us they do, and refusing to return calls. Managers who are not capable of dispute resolution or taking responsibility for anything. We were informed today, by a manager, they are now "corporately owned" and they have undergone a lot of changes we simply should not expect the same services we have received in the past, so we will be changing doctors' offices. read more
