It is also unfortunate that be what it may, it is the doctor's responsibility to manage that staff and ensure each patient has a respectful, caring experience. Ron Yamane's staff answer the phone whenever they feel like it (they absolutely do not adhere to stated hours), and are condescending and disrespectful to patients. We've moved on (after several decades) to find a doctor who actually believes in a "patient-first" model, one to whom we can confide and trust. This is a shame: it's not often you see 3.3-star ratings for doctors, but in this case, it is deserved. No ill-will toward Dr. Yamane, I'm sure you can turn this around, but your legacy in Gardena has been severely tarnished by your management approach. The negative reviews you see on this site are only a fraction of those who have been affected; most folks I know all have the same story, grin and bear it, or stop going to your office altogether...

I find him to be an average nice doctor who has cared for me, but his staff whose English is their second language has lacked friendliness and respect like his scheduler, "Suwaki" who has rudely talked down to me. They run around like squirrels too being so busy and their hours of operation are irregular including not answering their phone calls at times. Waiting longer than reasonable is common and during my last visit, I was informed that three patients were ahead of me just like being on an assembly line. Moreover, your first impression of their office, lobby and patient rooms will look dingy, depressing like never refurbished nor painted with old wall posters/flyers. I feel that "Masayo" whose irrational had complained that she was wasting 15 minutes of her time to explain about Optum's procedure namely HMO-POS for a PPO urologist referral only because of my longevity was rude and insulting. Most of his staff could careless unfortunately to never improve in such an old-fashion environment whose still using written paper for record keeping instead of iPads with walls of patient folders. Now retired, I was luckily referred by a helpful Wellness Nurse Practitioner from Optum and very pleased now with my brand new, reputable five-star Primary Doctor administered by their competent staff/NP, team work, portal and a well-organized modern facility in Torrance effective 01AUG23.

I came across some medical records and wanted the Dr. to explain to me, why he put some things in my records that I didn't understand completely and wanted to hear his reasoning for it. First off he was late for the appointment, which is not the first time. He entered the room complaining how busy he is.... That is not how you treat paying patients. It is not my fault that YOU are overworked or overwhelmed or that you over booked! I waited 30 days for this appointment and then YOU were late to the appointment! My time is just as valuable as yours!!! I immediately told him that this should only take a few minutes and he could move on with his day. I confronted him about what he put in my medical records and he immediately gave me some BS story about INS coding and blah blah blah. He straight up lied to my face and that was the last straw for me. He then berated me for wasting his time and that this could have been done over the telephone, I immediately let him know that I wanted to see him in person for the explanation. His story was such BullSh&!, he was like "Oh I just used that code because of this and that" Straight up lied to my face. He didn't have to use that code unless he really believed that. He got called out and literally didn't know what to say other than lie. He is the kind of doctor that thinks everyone else is uneducated and he is all knowing! Absolutely ridiculous!!!! How can I continue to see a doctor that I no longer trust?!?! So with that.... I'll be looking for a new primary physician.

Trying to get an appointment is always difficult. She is usually booked up for months so I started booking my appointment the same time every year to guarantee a spot. This year I got a call saying they cancelled this year's appointment for some reason and I'd have to call to reschedule. I called (mid November) and was told she's booked all through March of next year. Good for her that she's so popular but I haven't seen anything from her that I can't get somewhere else. I'd like a doctor I don't have to wait months for.

I had blocked ears, impacted by earwax and could barely hear. I was in pain. I was told she could not see me and I would have to come back in one week. I asked a second time and she declined to see me. A front office ice cold person told me I could go to urgent care in Redondo Beach with no appointment. I asked again. Then I asked to see the manager, also cold. I had to tell the manager I was not in love with UCLA as an orthopedist at UCLA Santa Monica wanted to replace my right knee and it did not need to be totally replaced. I recently needed a colonoscopy and had FIVE that's 5 cancellations from UCLA. They tell everybody with huge tacky banners that UCLA is the BEST hospital in the west. Baloney. What about Stanford, UCSF, and Berkley. And Scripps. UCLA is NOT the #5 hospital in the country, no matter if US News and World Report said that once. I have been a very frequent patient of UCLA for 35 years. Probably a mistake. Dr. Kim is cold and hard with negative bedside manner. She must have gone to medical school at Rikers Island and done her residency at Sing Sing. I suggest you drive to their main campus in Westwood where you get treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

I have a PPO because I like selecting my doctors so I was weary of going to see a doctor I hadn't researched or selected. Since I feel I get amazing care with my current medical provider I decided to take her recommendation. I didn't know what to expect from my appointment with Dr. Duffin. I have a very limited understanding of what rheumotologists do. Dr, Duffin took the time to pull up my medical records on some medical record sharing software system. He went through about 5 years of my medical history asking me questions and reading over lab reports, doctor's notes and my MRI. Dr. Duffin was able to tell me what was wrong with me, what I should expect and how I can treat it. He took the time to show me things online, explain to me what he was showing me and he printed up some materials for me to take home and read. He was very patient in answering all my questions. He ordered a few more blood tests and called me on a Sunday to report the results when I called his office with a question he called me back on a weeknight at 10pm. I'm not sure if the Sunday and 10pm calls are for everyone, but I didn't mind. If you're in the market for a rheumotologist, I highly recommend Dr. Duffin!
