Chubby's has been a childhood favorite of mine all of my life. I've always got their subs, which are reasonable priced and filling... But recently I had started getting their cheese pizzas... I could not believe how insanely good they are! Even the crust has a pretzel like texture, without it actually being a pretzel, and I find that very appetizing! They have other locations, including Cajah's Mountain, Granite Falls, and Conover! They may have more stores that I'm unaware of, but if you've never gave them a chance, please do! Everytime we go there's always something different. A couple months ago when our daughter was only few months old, a young girl handed my husband our pizza and said "I made this just for you" and he ignored her. Her walking up all you could hear was "is it a boy? Is he cute?" The whole time I was in the backseat with our newborn. I understand the girl couldn't see me, but his wedding ring was visible. Not only what she did was highly disrespectful, but dangerous. What if my husband was some creep and waited for her to get off work? Also when you pulled a piece up all the cheese fell off. I had called one night and the girl put me on hold for 30 minutes but we were sitting right outside, nobody was in there. They were just talking. Well so I hung up and called back and she AGAIN put me on hold. So after another 15 minutes my husband called and she immediately took his order. We were there meeting up for fb marketplace so we had time that night. But really??? Well the other night we went to order and the girl let my husband order and then put him on hold for 15 minutes and come back and proceeds to say "our ovens off soo" and to which he asks "so you can't make my pizza? Why didn't you tell me before I ordered?" And she just said "no sorry" and hung up. That was at 7:10 and the call ended at 7:30. The management sucks, the employees suck, the cleanliness is gross. But the food (when made right) is actually good so we overlooked everything. I'm so fed up with dealing with shitty customer service for no reason, I worked in the food industry. I get it. But I have never went into a restaurant/food establishment and dealt with this much. I'd rather eat shitty gas station food then here. read more

Second time ordering a 10.00 chef salad. Both times they put about a spoonful of finely shredded meat. For the price you would think that they would put some meat onto it since you are paying for it. So very disappointed. My husband said something to them about it and all they did was think it was funny. What is funny when you lose customers that want to get what they pay for. And when I shift finely, I mean something so fine that a goldfish would starve from. Will not order from again.....had to add my own meat to salad so a high dollar 10.00 salad just cost me even more....sad. read more

Ok been going to chubby's for years. Loved the place. Went in at 7:15 this Friday evening. There was no customers in the place just some high school kids hanging out talking to their friends who were "working". There was five employees standing around just talking. They had already started closing so half the kitchen was a mess and the other half was already put away for the night. Asked what time that they closed was told 8pm not at 7:15pm. I had to tell the young lady running the counter my order four times because she kept joining in with her friends conversation and not concerned with working. Once I got my receipt I noticed there's a 4% checkout fee. I asked what is this and the young lady explained that the charged me 4% to use my card, which is crappy on their part. I asked when they started that and was told it's under "new ownership" and not only did they now charge 4% extra they also went up on their prices. Use to get two subs and chips for $20 now it's $30. So I take my over priced dinner home only to find out that they got both sub orders wrong. So under new ownership the quality of service is terrible. Someone should inform the high school kids that they are there to work and not just hang out. They also did a price increase and a stupid 4% extra charge and can't get the order right. So now I get to pay more for poor quality service and food. That being said I'll never ever ever ever go back to chubby's with this new ownership. I want to make it very clear that the 3 stars I am leaving is not for the quality of the food. My husband and I have been coming to Chubby's for years and love their subs. The bread is great, they load the subs with mayo (a plus in my book), but not until tonight, when we placed a pick up order, have we ever been disappointed, even ticked off, with our experience at Chubby's. We placed a to-go order - my husband got the 16" club (ham, roast beef, and turkey, add bacon) and I got the 16" Veggie. The menu does not indicate which veggies come on the veggie sub, so when I asked the girl who answered the phone, I was told "lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil & vinegar and cheese". I said, "So, the only veggies that the veggie sub comes with are lettuce and tomato?", to which I was told "yes". Huh?!? So the veggie just comes with the toppings that come on all the other subs? To top it off, the price difference in the club that my husband got and the veggie that apparently is only a lettuce and tomato sandwich, is .20 cents. Again, huh?!? You're telling me that all the meat that my husband got on his sub was only worth .20 cents? I told the girl I wanted the veggie but that I actually wanted to add some veggies to mine. Even with all the veggies that I added to mine, which a veggie sub should come with anyway, it still should not cost as much as a sub with a pile of meat on it. So those are my first couple of gripes - no veggies on the veggie sub and a "lettuce and tomato" sandwich should not cost anywhere near the same amount as all of the meat-packed subs on the menu. Pricing structure is very screwy. My third gripe, which I saw that someone else mentioned on here as well, is that you don't get the same thing you pay for in a take-out order as you do when you get a dine-in order. Why would you not automatically get the same chips and pickles with the subs with the take-outs that you get with the dine-ins? You aren't paying any less for the orders so why do you get less with the orders? My final gripe is that on the front of their take-out menu they advertise that they now take Visa and MasterCard. We paid with a Visa credit card that we have linked to fuel rewards so that we could earn the fuel points. It wasn't until we got out to the car that we noticed that we had been charged an additional 3.5% fee for using a credit card. No signage was apparent that notified the customer that there would be an additional penalty for using a credit card, and the girl who took the payment did not say anything about the fee. So, if they are going to go out of their way to put on their menu that they take credit cards, then maybe they should make mention of the fact that if you use a credit card you will be paying extra to do so. Again, the food is delicious, staff is friendly, just pricing structure that doesn't make a lick of sense, veggie sub that is just the toppings off of their meaty subs, and extra fees for paying with credit cards with no heads up. The food is excellent! However, the bunch of teenagers working there in the evenings are a joke. They are too busy acting a fool to take my order when I call it in. There is one girl who answers the phone whose attention span is as long as the head of a straight pin. She can't take my order without talking to everyone in the background. Very tidy and clean. Saw a lot of locals, which usually means it's a good place to eat. Missed having the Philly cheesesteak - "was a day late and a day early" - only served on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We ordered their angus burger and were pleasantly surprised. Ordered a pizza with 5 toppings. Should've picked up a frozen box pizza. Nothing to do with the fact that on a Sat. night around 7:00 p.m. , no other diners were eating (an empty dinning room), although there were 6 members of a family standing near the entry door reading and discussing their individual orders as I stepped outside to make a work related phone call and wait the 12 mins. stated . Waited 15 mins., to return to pick up my pizza to find the 6 diners had been waited on and the waitress was delivering their large beautiful chef salads and a couple hot sub sandwiches. I ask and was told my meal wasn't ready yet. 34 mins. into this, I was handed my pizza. At this time , I'm numb to everything with no negative thoughts at all. Take my meal home, grab a beer, and kick back for a couple slices. Took maybe three bites before I'll realized ......this has got to be most nasty pizza I've ever attempted to stomach. I couldn't stomach eating this with my dad's false teeth. I dissected the remainder of this piece like the earthworm in high school lab. Not sure about most of it but the items I did recognize were little square chips of the sliced tomatoes from a can asked for, didn't see any typical round shaped pepperoni's but did again see little chips of a reddish material that I nerved up to taste ....remains indeterminate. The cheese, a generous portion of a yellow cheese looking substance that had zero "0" flavor. guessing....used the cover up the short comings of what Chubby's call's pizza. Crust....no flavor so it's hard to criticize but would expect it to be more than a napkin. This is the first time I have ever written a review on anything but I felt obligated under these circumstance. Sorry Chubby's, but I would rethink what you could really have as there aren't any pizza places near you. Good luck with making better choices for ingredients as on this date , without question, this is the worst pizza I've ever wasted money on. $19 and some change. read more
