4.5 stars. It's a good thing I was sitting down because the (black garlic aioli 5-cut burger) made my knees buckle when I bit into it. There is something very special about this offering. And it's worth the $25 price tag. All of the food was perfectly executed. My only complaint is that the decor/service/ambiance do not match the high price tag of the food. Maybe it was bad luck - maybe it was a bad day. To start, it was HOT inside - seemed like the ac wasn't working. Then came the food, two adults and the food came at two different times. Then the steaks were cooked wrong so back they go and then we wait again for them to arrive at different times. Meh is what I thought about everything. Wonderful service. This is a place you go to where you feel like you're in a real community because of the service. It's nice that you can get fresh cuts here and even have most of it cooked there too. They have a nice selection of burgers/sandwiches. Very hearty and portions are generous. I wish the fries were cooked alittle less. They were extremely well done. Loved the Mac n cheese. It was extremely rich. Must have driven passed this place 100 times and I don't know how I missed it! You walk in and they have a whole really impressive butcher area. We were there for lunch, as soon as they opened. The seating inside is pretty limited, but we were there around 12 pm so we had no issues. We also had my 2 year old son with us and they were very accommodating. So we eat got burger / Sandwich. Both were delicious and the fries were also great! We shared the potato croquettes as an appetizer and they were the best thing of the day. Super unique and fun and tasty. Came here with friends on a Saturday, and it was pretty busy. Just a heads up.. they don't take reservations, so there was a bit of a wait. We were initially told 30 minutes, but after checking back in, it ended up being closer to an hour. They did offer us seats by the kitchen sooner, so we took that option. For appetizers, we ordered the chili espresso wings and they were a 10/10 super flavorful with just the right balance and not spicy. Definitely the standout of the night. For entrées, I had the Korean Chicken Sando, which was decent but not amazing.. I'd give it a 6/10. My boyfriend ordered the chimichurri steak and rated it a 7/10 it was good but could've used a bit more flavor. We also ordered the bacon mac and cheese and I honestly forgot it had bacon didn't even see or taste any. Overall, a mixed experience but I'd still come back to try other items on the menu and give it another shot. read more

I had high hopes for Off the Block in Sayville after seeing all the TikTok hype about their pasta and veal, but my experience was a complete letdown. First off, dinner doesn't start until 4 PM, something not mentioned on Google or anywhere online. We only found out here, which was frustrating. Since we were there early, we tried brunch items instead. I ordered the steak and eggs, and my companion got some pulled pork creation with sourdough toast. And here's the shocking part, how do you mess up eggs? The steak was an underwhelming 6 ounces, blander than any three-star all-inclusive resort steak I've ever had. And this is coming from a place that also advertises itself as a butcher shop. What gives? The only saving grace was the staff, who were friendly and attentive. But friendly service cannot make up for such disappointing food and misleading information about hours. Honestly, I expected so much more from the hype this was a total miss. read more

I Found Off The Block Kitchen & Restaurant on instagram and knew we had to try it. On Friday night 8/28, My husband and I drove 50 minutes to get there and waited an hour to sit. The restaurant is a nice size, not huge, but with all the publicity it just received it was packed. The chefs never stopped moving and worked so well together in a small area cooking. We spoke with Stephen, the owner, who was also the butcher. He's a very nice and personable man. A lot of people were also coming in and buying meat from the butcher counter. The place has a nice vibe and relaxing atmosphere. We ordered the Wings and Brussel sprouts for appetizers - it was amazing- the flavors popped in your mouth. My bone in rib eye was cooked to perfection. It was Better than some famous steak houses we've been to. My husband had the most delicious lamb chops. We had carrot cake for dessert - it was great. This was their first week after being seen on Instagram and TikTok and they handled the crowd as if it was happening every day. All the employees were great, they worked together and they all looked happy which is a big compliment to Stephen, the owner and their boss. My compliments to the Chefs. We will definitely go back. We booked this restaurant for catering for my sister's wedding and everything was confirmed well in advance. The menu, pricing, and logistics were all agreed upon, and we were relying on them for a major part of the event. Very last minute--close enough to the wedding that it left us scrambling--they backed out without a real solution or adequate support to help us replace the service. For an event of this size and importance, that level of unreliability is unacceptable. There was no sense of accountability or urgency in helping us fix the situation they created. It put a lot of unnecessary stress on what should have been a special day. I would not recommend them for any event where dependability actually matters. read more

I have been a customer for a long time and love the food. Service was excellent under the Manager Conor who greeted us as we entered once were served and when leaving. The new manager is not friendly and did absolutely nothing for us when we stated and other customers how HOT it was in the restaurant. I explained to manager it was very dangerous to us seniors and those that have breathing issues. I asked when was the last time the a/c units were serviced while also noticing the size of units too small for the restaurant. No answer or apologies from her just excuses. I asked what were they set at she claimed 60 while it was above 80 in there. The owners of this establishment need to address this issue asap if they don't want to lose customers. read more

Pretty solid place. This place was in the area by where I working. Cute inside that features a butcher shop and a restaurant opted for the counter seat both times. Meh. Chicken fried steak sandwich was like chewing a rubber band. T-Bone for $58 was overcooked. Kale salad is good, but you can make it yourself with some red onion and parmesan cheese. Espresso wings were good, parmesan dry rubbed were well, dry. Servers were ok. For $160 just cook at home yourself. Used to be well known for their steak tidbits (no longer on the menu) They should be aware of the number of bad reviews they are starting to see. read more

Not just one, at least 10 ants in total.The waiter was kind and promptly moved us to a new table, which I appreciated. However, after seeing the ants, I was too uncomfortable to enjoy the meal, and the food itself was subpar. Partner had steak and Mac and cheese. Steak was not seasoned. Mac and cheese was watery. The Korean chicken sandwich with the passionfruit sauce that was too sweet. Fries were soggy and gross. Temperature was way off; should have been medium but was between rare and medium rare. Steak sauce wasn't terrible flavorful. The raspberry crumble cheesecake dessert wasn't as good as it sounds. Took myself out to a marvelous lunch at this Sayville butcher shop and eaterie, which I'd had my eye on for a long time. Too long! Because it's awesome. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in, and led to a lovely table. Within minutes I was sipping a silky glass of Rioja. To start, i tried the baby beet and arugula salad with apples, radish, walnuts, whipped feta and sage-citrus dressing, which was full of great flavors and textures. Loved it. Next up was the main attraction I'd read so much about, the rightly acclaimed steak au poivre sandwich with Gorgonzola and frizzled onions on rosemary bun. I relished every meat, savory bite. Place is OK. Decent albeit minimal selection. I do wish either their labels for steaks were accurate and workers knew what was what, because it's awkward when the strips and rib eyes are labeled wrong and/or the guy doesn't know better. I'm pointing at a rib eye, labeled rib eye, and the guy is telling me it is a NY strip. Pretty sure he's wrong, but I am not about to be condescending and make a scene.
