Very deceptive. Towed my sons vehicle after his accident and was not upfront about costs even though he went there the same day to get forgotten items out of vehicle. Their costs went up faster than he could afford to get his vehicle out. Now they are ruining his credit. If they would have been upfront on costs and responsibilities they would have made some money from him but now they will get nothing but an auction price from a totaled vehicle. read more

Just as the reviews would tell you, AAA recommended, then after waiting 2 hours for service and the time they said to be there had passed, I called. I was told "Yeah we told AAA we'll be there in the morning." And was hung up on. The real problem seems to be AAA still trusting and using them in any manner, seeing it's not just me who's been essentially left hanging. If AAA recommends them to you, it would be worth your time to try to find someone else first. read more

Chub's Towing & Recovery - Tow truck that picked up my Traverse. - Towing Near Me - Rockwall, Texas

$190 for a 4 mile trip during an accident. Story: Highway Barrier cpllision of a pickup truck. Totally immovable. Right wheel ripped off frame. Off i30 and delivered down the street. Hook up fee 150 plus 32 for the milage and fuel surcharge. Here is the complaint. Thats way too much. based off a wreck, i would assume maybe 80 bucks and a bit of mileage. but geez thats a lot. Have the receipt for it. they made newrly 200 bucks within 40 minutes. Paid in cash so it might be "lost" and not reported to their tax. (ALWAYS PAY WITH CARD AND PROOF WITH RECEIPT SO THEY DONT AVOID PAYING TAXES, NEVER TRUST ANY TOWING COMPANY WITH CASH) I have the receipt. My analysis of what i think is fair for a wreck towing is about 155 for the mileage it was traveling to. $40 bucks isnt a lot but maybe someone is having a hard week and doesnt have $40 at the moment and needs them to pay for bills or they just got sick and needs money since they havent worked. just saying as an example. Recommendations: Ive only ever dealt with Secret Service towing and Ignite towing. For Ignite Towing, it was from garland to alvarado, $256. so just imagine that. Hope this helps someone and I advise you to have a tow truck in case of an accident as this is ridiculous. Ive seen lower averages for wrecks so thats just my point of view. read more

This company was the chosen one by AAA to help me with battery issues on Saturday Aug 15th 2022. The first service request was done at 11am. The company kept changing the ETA until the request magically disappeared from the AAA system. I made a second service request and as in the earlier one, the company kept delaying the ETA until the service request disappeared from the AAA system. Just to prove a point, I made a third call to AAA, same useless Chub´s outfit was assigned, and ETA was changed eight times! As the last ETA was past midnight and I had plenty of proof that they did not want to do this service (information I´m sharing with AAA) I ended up cancelling that service request. After a whole day of waiting for these people to show up, they never came. I am glad that at least I was not waiting for them by the road in the hot Texas summer. I would have certainly died of heat stroke waiting for them and they would have now much bigger problems in their hands than just a negative Google review. It´s a shame that we even have to give any stars. They deserve a big pile of dog manure. What a joke of a company. Useless and completely unprofessional. read more

If Rachel answers the phone hang up and call back until you get someone else. The people who answer the phone are in a call center and are not the people where you pick up the car. The two sides apparently have no communication with each other. I had a friend who got on the wrong side of the law in Rockwall. I was trying to help by at least recovering his car. His mother called Chub's several times to get instruction on exactly how to get the car out. I even called myself once. We drove from Richardson to Rockwall and ended up leaving without the car because what we were told when we got there had nothing to do with what we were told over the phone. For crying out loud, can't someone write a simple paragraph with a script so the people answering the phone will give actually helpful information? read more

My car wouldn't start, called AAA for assistance, they dispatched Chub's Towing. I pushed the car out of the garage into the driveway and waited along with my son. We watched the driver come to Reeder and Elderberry and turn back up Reeder never turning on Elderberry left or right. Called back after no show, was told he couldn't find the house. Put in another request waited over another hour in the car, called back and was told driver said he knocked on the door and no one answered, and them they changed it to the car wasn't in the driveway. Had he came he would of saw the car at said address, dispatch or whoever answered was rude and said there's nothing he can do and have a goodnight. Your driver is an outright liar. read more

As we all know, car accidents suck; Always unexpected, stressful, and inconvenient, even before the insurance company tells you how much the whole ordeal will cost. Now, if you have ever needed your car towed before, you know the that this process only increases all the aforementioned characteristics. Tows are pricey and the companies have in my experience, little skill or emphasis on customer service. Chub's Towing and Recovery blew me away with their customer service from the moment their driver arrived on the scene. Dwight, the driver, was pleasant, courteous, and quick. My car arrived at the body shop safely and without increased damage. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, their prices were more than fair given the extent of the process. I will have no problem giving Chub's a call next time I need a tow or a friend asks if I know a guy. read more

No customer service! I was involved in an accident. Tried to get some personal items from the car.the same day They close at five. They could care less if you can't get there or not. I can't find a listing for "Chubs" for the location I am looking for In Terrell, TX, but since they're the same company.. I'll leave this here. HORRIBLE SERVICE! I was in a accident 2 days prior to Christmas... It is now Mid-January and my insurance was just able to pick up my car today! After 3 attempts to pick up, Chubs Towing tells them they must wait 1 HOUR at the lot for someone to arrive to open the gate. My insurance gave a call 1 hour prior to arriving at all prior attempts and when they arrived? No one was to be found even after waiting quite a bit of time. Only after the third time, Chubs towing let them know they had to call once AT the lot and wait an HOUR after that point. SO if you leave your car here, it will be left unattended all hours of the day and night. How's that for security? Also, if you leave anything in your car... have fun waiting 1 hour at the lot before someone arrives to let you in. Should your car already be at Chubs.. SO SO sorry.. but let your insurance know to call once they get there and wait 1 HOUR.. hopefully they wont need to clear it with a supervisor (like mine did) to sit and wait for 1 HOUR without making other stops or picks up during that time. Time is money, and it's our money being wasted while they sit there. And also hope they do not charge you per attempt because who knows how many it will take. It has now been almost 3 weeks... my rental car insurance caps out next week, and my insurance just got my car. What an awesome situation to be in. All in all... awful. Not to mention the truck ride into town on the day of my accident took a good 40 mins... since the driver and owner did not know how to get back to his own lot from the highway. He was a nice gentleman but according to my insurance adjuster, he was very rude to her and inconsiderate of MY time and my insurance's time. I felt that I had to leave a review so that if you've been in an accident and the Terrell / Elmo police call Chub's towing.. request another. Because now I'm quite literally paying the price for their call to the towing company of THEIR choice and not mine. Not to mention I am an out of town resident so I had no clue who to call. Total rip off for sure!!! This guy told me that because the cops had called him that the hook-up fee would be $125!!!! When it was typically $65 for this company!!?!?! It is outrageous to charge someone almost double just because they call road side assistance and a cop comes to help. He yelled at me as well when he was taking me home. Totally uncool. Never use these guys!!!!!! It's a scam. I don't care who calls them the price should be consistent across the board. The cops don't pay that bill, u have to pay that bill. So why would it matter who calls them? It's just an excuse to screw ppl out of their hard earned money!!!! I will not mention him by name but but I certainly wouldn't buy him a beer if I ever saw him "out and about" as another yelper has said. Was behind a driver this morning from Rockwall to Forney. Cross and Punisher decals in back window. This guy was speeding from start to finish. He had to slam on his breaks and almost hit oncoming traffic while trying to pass on a curve. Laid on his horn when people wouldn't get out of his way. Going to kill someone at this rate. read more

Complete rip-off. I had a car towed 5 miles away from it's location in Forney, which is 10 miles from their location. A cop stopped by offering his help and offered a referral only. It wasn't an arrest situation or an impoundment situation. I usually pay $75 for this. He charged me $225!! He said b/c it was a cop that called it in. I explained that it was only a cop referral that he asked if we wanted... it wasn't an impoundment or an arrest. He didn't care. Ripoff!! read more

Left headlights on for 45 minutes and needed jump start. GPS shows them to be 3/4 of a mile away. They quoted me $140 for a two minute drive to use my own jumper cables. What a ripoff!! read more

Chubs Towing is an amazing company that I not only use personally but for all of my business related towing needs. They are always on time for scheduled appointments and the turn around for unscheduled emergency services is always really fast. My father was recently involved in a 4 car wreck on his motorcycle and Chubs arrived onsite impossibly fast for an emergency Friday night pickup. I had to ride with the tow truck driver while my brother took my father to the emergency room in my car. The driver was extremely nice and got the motorcycle to the house really fast. I use Chubs about once a week and would recommend them to anyone. read more

I have never been a customer of Chub's Towing, and I never want to be a customer of Chub's Towing, and I hope no one I know is ever a customer of Chub's Towing. This is why. The driver of a Chub's Towing flatbed truck, with a car loaded on it, parked on the street behind me, in a residential neighborhood, and blocked me in a driveway. I was in the drivers seat and my teenage daughter in the passenger seat. The driver then got out of the Chub's Towing truck and walked away. He got mad at me when I honked the horn and gestured for him to move the truck so I could get out of the driveway. He yelled rude, misogynistic comments, and called me names. He did move the truck so he could drop the car a few houses down and I was able to back out of the driveway. Unluckily, I had to go the same direction he was going, and instead of letting me pass by him before he actually dropped the car, he blocked the road and made me wait again. In his effort to block the road so I could not get by, he failed to back far enough into the peoples driveway and was not able to drop the car without backing up further, which gave me just enough room to drive past the Chub's Towing truck. As I passed by him he yelled some more and said he gave me enough room to get the car by but didn't think I would be able to get my wide ass past it. All of this took place while my teenage daughter was in the car with me and her teenage friend watched from her yard. I immediately called Chub's Towing and spoke with a man that identified himself as the manager, but not the owner, and he ended up telling me I was being a bitch about it and hung up on me.
