You don't have to be a birthday star to deserve good pizza. Order pizza and cake from Chuck E Cheese's. This location doesn't have as much curb appeal as other locations of this chain. The arcade and the decor look a bit rundown. Fortunately, I don't have children. So the ball pit and whack-a-mole weren't a big concern for me. I ordered pizza and cake as a carryout order. The manager was very patient and kind. She assumed that I was throwing a small birthday party for a child because I was ordering pizza and birthday cake. So she did volunteer info about the cake and serving the cake. I'm Overall, It was pretty easy to order carryout pizza and cake in-store.

I read another review of this that is spot on because it focused on perspective. This is an old…read moreschool small amusement park that is perfect for a fun day with kids. There are a wealth of rides across several different ages, and park admission includes Storyland access and unlimited City Park train rides. It'll be a blast for the kids, and they won't get tired of it; I've also never been there when lines were long. My only issue is that the park is staffed by mostly (but not all) rude young adults (perhaps teenagers but hard to tell) who have no desire to do an efficient or effective job. I'm not even asking for you to go above and beyond to make it special for kids; simply doing your job would be nice. Saying rides are on hold while you sit and do nothing, claiming that the a particular ride only rides every 10 minutes, cutting rides short on purpose (they literally would say it out loud), and so forth are all indicative of issues that could be easily fixed.

(At least my seven-year-old did. However, in a few years, she'll outgrow the rides.) To parents, this place is a great way to spend a few hours visiting City Park, but it comes with a price. It was $21 for our daughter and just over $12 per parent. However, once you pay, you get unlimited rides. The rides themselves are old and run down, but the plus is there were no lines on a Sunday afternoon in April. It has clean restrooms and the train is a fun way to see a part of City Park. Next door is Storyland, a storybook-themed playground that's free.

Anyway, this is one of the better playgrounds on the Westbank. I think it's pretty new: put up within the last three years or so. I actually found myself here when a friend's kids were looking for a place to play and they seemed to enjoy it. It has all the basic type of playground fun such as swings and things to climb on. The equipment is well maintained and, as Jeremy mentioned, there is rubber matting around the equipment so that the precious angels don't hurt themselves. SIde note: do y'all remember when we were kids and our equipment was either on dirt or concrete? If you acted up and got a skinned knee, you knew not to do that again. And don't get me started on those metal slides that would bake in the sun all day to a nice 200 degrees that you then had to slide down in shorts. No but seriously, the rubber is probably a good idea. There is also some nice green space out there, if you just want to sit and hang out while your kids play. This is a really nice addition to an otherwise quiet part of Huey P. Long Avenue.

There are three separate play structures- two for preschoolers and toddlers and one for ages 5-12- as well as a set of swings, a seesaw and the safest merry go round you will ever see in your entire life (I'm serious- the thing is a single piece of plastic like a giant bowl with molded seats- nothing to get caught on or anything.) Because all of the playground equipment is brand new, it's in great shape. The ground material in the playground area is soft wood chips- watch out if you have a thrower (we have to tell our munchkin to not throw the wood chips every once in a while- it's apparently really, really tempting) There's lots of room for kids to run around and burn off excess energy, and there are benches for parents to sit and chill while watching the kids go wild. There's an art thingy recently added- made by local school kids- at the side of the park, so yay! for extra visual interest! The biggest disadvantage is a lack of shade- so during hot summer days it's not a good idea to head to the playground. Go in the mornings or late evenings in summer and save the afternoon trips to Gretna Heritage Playground for the cooler months of the year.

Tickets ran 50$ for kids and 60$ for adults. I know they offered discount coupons and I imagine cheaper pre-event tickets as well. I was so excited, I paid full price and bought as soon as the commercial ended. Your tickets include (2 hour experience): santa letter writing area, a golden ticket, entertainment, hot chocolate (just like the movie, ohhhh it was great), a cookie, character interaction,a real train ride (yep!), a reading of the book, caroling, an up close and personal visit from Mr. C himself and a souvenir silver bell for every rider. Other riders will tell you how magical it was and boy was it, we all wore PJs. It is truly a memory making experience. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I wanted to offer some insider info that's not on the website. Try to arrive 30-45min early. That will give you plenty of time to park and leisurely walk calmly into the station, get your tickets, take photos by the tree, etc. We got there an hour early and added pre window shopping in gift store, eating and bathroom breaks. You can park in an adjacent parking lot, jot down your license plate # and pay at kiosk or via a mobile app. I think it was 12-15$ for 4 hours. Definitely wear PJs, nice photo opp in the waiting area before the train ride. The area for check-in is clearly marked. You can leave your family in the staging area while someone goes to get the tickets. Catch a meal before you go, the only food they have is a Subway or a hotdog type stand (we did it, not so good) at the station. Or bring your own food or snacks. The seats seemed strange on the website and not knowing what I was doing, I ended up booking wacky tickets. There are two seats on one side of the train and two seats on the other side, so a family of four should book across the aisle from each other. Luckily our car was empty, so we were able to move into better positions. I enjoyed the daytime ride and with young kids, I liked it better. I don't think that a day or night time event makes a difference. It's a great show anytime of day. Lastly, there's a gift shop. I looked at all the stuff, they had some cool things. There was one thing that I bought for all the kids that turned out being way cooler than I realized. It was a frame, that can hold a photo or in our case, the golden ticket and the souvenir silver bell. For15$ it's a good value and will remind us of a magical day. It's a great event as a one time experience or a yearly tradition...... "Cause that's the way things happen on the Polar Express"

I thought that they were teasing me at first, but no. They checked my ID. Thank you!! That made my day!! As far as the arcade, it is like Chuck-E-Cheese for grownups. A token vending machine against the wall. Four token for $1. A bar serving very reasonably priced adult beverages. (And sodas and water.) Love the wooden green picnic tables. We got a handful of tokens and then started to play. Godzilla and Mandalorian Pinball. Skee-Ball. Arcade basketball. Video games like Pac-man and Tetris. And a very competitive foosball game between my daughters. Just like when they were growing up. The murals covering the walls are by local artists. There are four pool tables. They even let you bring in your own catered food. Amazing. Started by two brother in Chicago, you can feel how this bar is really a local place to vibe with your family and friends. Everyone from the bouncers checking IDs to the bar tender to fellow patrons was so chill. A memorable night capped by playing a game of "Frogger" as we managed to successfully cross the street to our parked car.
