The establishment was a quaint famiky-owned business. Wasn't a fan of the all black decor. The wait staff were knowledgeable and customer focused. The restaurant is better than ever! The service was exceptional! Ask for Denise. We enjoyed a sushi roll for an appetizer. Don't miss it! For dinner, we tried bronzed snapper with the Louisiana cream sauce, the grilled grouper with the Louisiana cream sauce, grilled snapper with artichoke and crab cakes with a citrus sauce. Everyone made a happy plate! The sauce on the crab cakes was amazing. Tonight they had risotto with Gouda and bacon as a side. Just wow! In addition, they had grilled zucchini and squash. There are other sides, but we all enjoyed these two. We finished with the key lime pie. The best I have ever tasted - and I have tasted many! Can't wait for them to open the outside patio. 3.9 is a joke. Chuck's Fish is spot on no matter the location. Tuscaloosa, Mobile, Birmingham, Tallahassee, and now Montgomery, this food is always amazing and fresh. The staff did a great job. We always had food or drink, but we never bothered. The place is very relaxed and welcoming. The restaurant is in an odd location, but worth it. read more

I love this place so much , the food is absolutely amazing with some of the best fresh fish you'll find in Montgomery Alabama , I don't usually like to leave reviews but the management is terrible , the guy named Scott is always yelling at his employees unprofessional, has smelled like liquor the past two times I've been to the establishment around 7pm & is just a complete d*** head , it's kinda sad to see because I love this place with the very laid back atmosphere but now I don't even like to come because of the management. Chuck's has a difficult time but is back open after closing for a fire. It just got better. We dined on a Thursday night and it was packed. Many of the previous staff are back from before and even back to Jubilee Seafood, it predecesssor in this space. We did have to wait more than usual due to the crowd but it appeared they were busier than expected and we were able to get prompt drinks and appitizers so we were not starving. Our food was excellent. I had the chicken picata and a Ceasar salid. Others had tuna, gumbo, oysters and a wedge salad and all were very satisfied. We did not try the sushi this time but I have heard it good as well. Welcome back Chuck's. We love the location due to it's history and we love the restaurant. read more

I've gone to the Chuck's in Birmingham many times, and I've been thoroughly impressed every visit. This location isn't even close to the quality of the other locations. Every dish was poorly plated. The spicy tuna roll was smaller than the size of a quarter. I've had better sushi at Fresh Market for half the price. The lack of seasoning was apparent. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because of our server, Maria. If you want ambiance, go to La Jolla, Taste, or Central. If you want better seafood, go to The Wharf. read more

Bad service. Southern hospitality does not exist at this place. Given the rudeness and abominable treatment I experienced, I won't be returning. Disappointed to say I won't be back. As this restaurant has become more popular, service has fallen off. It seems they can't keep up with more customers. First, the server didn't even want to tell me the specials because he was in such a hurry. Instead of welcoming me, he just said, "hey, you know what you want?" I had to actually ask for the specials, and he wasn't super receptive even then. Next, I've been to this restaurant multiple times and always order the same dish. Initially server denied it was even available. The order was then wrong when it came out (fish was breaded). I kindly and apologetically flagged his mistake, but he initially didn't want to fix it. He eventually took the dish back with no apology. He eventually brought the same thing back with some of the breading scraped off. Again, nothing said. The server never initiated conversation with me again after that, barely looking in my direction. I later gave him my card and asked for a box. He set the receipt down -- again without speaking or acknowledging me. I noticed an upcharge he hadn't mentioned, his response was that I just should have known. Confused, I asked what would be done about it and he said I could speak to the manager. He later came back to say that she was too busy to speak and that they would not remove it. The issue was not the upcharge, but the poor service and lack of apology. And the fact that the manager didn't even bother to come address it initially. I was simply told she's too busy -- too busy to take care of a customer who was treated rudely and given an order with multiple items wrong? I said I'd wait and she immediately came over and sat down, which definitely made it seem that she wasn't actually that busy. She didn't actually address any of my concerns or even seem to listen. She was sarcastically apologetic and ignored me as I left. So sad to say this as I used to love this restaurant -- but seriously, if you value your peace at all, avoid this place. It was one of the worst and most disrespectful restaurant experiences I've ever had. read more

Manager should be fired. Work dinner was being planned and the behavior of this guy was absolutely unacceptable when questioned about reservations that had been set up. The conversation was ended with "You should find somewhere else to eat" as the customer was hung up on. I would encourage everyone to not do business with this restaurant. read more

My partner in dinning tonight again is my best friend and Wife! It's our wedding anniversary so we thought let's check Chucks out! This place has history and for years was "The Jubilee" known for great seafood so we were a wee bit skeptical! At first bite of the stuffed shrimp I was all in! Oh!but Wait, there's sushi too! I'm a newbie at Chucks so my five star rating was due to this first bite excitement... we also had the Super Crunchy Shrimp Roll and The Zoo roll! I'm still excited and I just can't hide it. If you are in Montgomery Alabama and want amazing seafood, sushi a full bar and ample wine list without getting all dolled upthis is the place! My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner last Saturday night, just 4 days after Chuck's reopening. Everything was lovely! The food was just right-we had mahi that was fresh as expected and prepared well, followed by a bread pudding that really hit the spot. (But I do miss the slaw Jubilee Seafood served!) Our server was timely and attentive. We took a peek at the old "Jubilee" space, that was totally redone due the fire, and it looks great. Happy to have Chuck's back! read more
