Visiting Montgomery AL for my Nieces wedding and she highly recommended this place for her visitors. I must say it was great. I had the 2 piece catfish with red beans & rice with hush puppy's and bread. Food was "GREAT" and service was excellent. I'm will only be in Montgomery a few day's but will defiantly try a few more things from their menu.

Food: A Service: B+ Price: B Restaurant layout: B Location: B Overall: B+ The food was tasty and the portion size was good. The red beans and rice were a tad dry and the rice was too. I ordered the shrimp due to the oysters being taken off the menu indefinitely. My husband ordered the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. There were a lot of customers picking up to go orders. Overall, we enjoyed it. Give it a try if you like a New Orleans feel for dinner.

This was recommended by someone at the current facility I'm working at in Montgomery. I came on a Tuesday, so it was really lowkey and quiet. I was greeted at the door by the hostess and shown my seat; the waitress came over right away and took my drink and food order (I had already stalked the menu at work, so I knew what I wanted.). I ordered the seafood gumbo as an appetizer & the fried shrimp tacos. My food came really quickly, so I ended up taking my seafood gumbo home. The shrimp on my tacos were HUGE!!!! The tacos were served with Spanish rice (which took my 4 stars to 3); it was cold and plus there was a lot of it with feta cheese sprinkled on top (definitely getting the potatoes next time). All in all, good experience. Wait staff was nice and attentive. I'm in Montgomery for 3 more weeks, so I'll definitely be back.

Cute little restaurant. Been here a few times. The waitress has her days but she is sweet. Food is always fresh. There is always enough parking

Do not eat here. The staff was very rude. I came during a lunch shift around 12:20 today. My server had a bad attitude and she expressed that she did not want to be there. I heard her say," I have three people on hold, and they are going to stay on hold." In addition to that, I asked her to split my payment and she did it incorrectly. She never smiled, and never asked us how our food was tasting. She was not knowledgeable about the menu when my husband asked her about some food items she said she didn't eat it, and she never suggested anything to try. We had been traveling for 4 hours and we were starving. I did not expect to be greeted with a rude server after being on the road for so long.

Had an doctor's appointment which had a waiting period, so we decided to grab some brunch. This spot at this time of the day was very quiet, able to enjoy the sounds of the new Orleans music. Our server was very sweet . The food was amazing, usually whe I order wings from other establishments I ja e to send them back due to them being too hard. These were made just for me... my salad was oh so good.....

First time having crab claws and they were to die for! They had just the right amount of Cajun seasoning paired with their house aioli and oh my God amazing! I had fried mahi-mahi and popcorn shrimp - equally as delectable! This place is a must if you're ever in Montgomery!

Went to the seafood bistro on a Sunday. I didn't know they closed at 4 and we arrived at 3:30. However we wouldn't have known they were about to close because service was still quick and friendly. I ordered the crawfish and gator with the Cajun potatoes and my husband ordered the 1/2 lbs shrimp boil bag. My food tasted like it was fried a little to hard but still tasted very good. The potatoes were amazing. There was also a lot of food. Too much to eat. I ended up needing a Togo box. My husband loved his. He said next time he is getting the pound it was so good. As I said before they were about to close when another family came in 10 min to 4. They were still greeted politely and seated. Over all the only complaint I had was the Cajun wasn't spicy enough and the cocktail sauce tasted like ketchup. Regardless we will be going back.

The restaurant was nice and clean. This was my first time eating here. My waitress was great. Now to my food. I ordered the pound of snow crab and it came with corn and sausage (I'm not a fan of potatoes). Everything was good, however I wasn't pleased with the portion of crab. Idk about you but I don't think 2 clusters equals a pound and I buy snow crab legs quite often.

We were going through Montgomery and stopped at this little spot, so glad we did. Our party of four ordered the following: Shrimp Boilbag, gumbo, crawfish poboy, popcorn shrimp, and snow crab leg boilbag. It was all delicious. Wished I had gotten some gumbo to go! This is a definite stop you can't miss. Also food came quickly and the owner was super nice.

    Shrimp & Grits

Found this place on Yelp. Probably the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. The blackened shrimp were most excellent. Their version of beignets are pretty tasty as well! I'll be back...

Man, do I want to give this place a higher rating, but there were a few things that just cannot…read morejustify a higher rating. Let's get into it. We arrived here on a Sunday, not by choice, but because of lack of options in this area on a Sunday. We wanted a sit down meal and not just a grab and go type of situation. Not many choices are available in the area on a Sunday. When we walked in we were greeted warmly and guided to our table. Once we sat down we were looking over the menu and our server approached. We placed our drink order and were kind of given a 'heads up' about how service might be that day. Which isn't always that great of thing to hear when you basically exhausted all other possibilities in the area. When our drinks arrived, almost ten minutes later, we finally started to place our orders. I went with an appetizer and entree. Let me tell you something, I'm ok with fusion food, but Cajun and Irish was not one I was expecting to stumble upon. I like taking in new experiences so I will give anything a chance at least once. When you look over the menu, you can see how they fused the cuisines and some sound interesting, while others give you the apprehension that you should follow and not order. During the ordering process, my picks were readily available, but my friends weren't so lucky when they made selections. One friend just kept going down the list until one was available. However, one of my other friends ordered something only for the server to return and tell her that that option was not available at that time because they didn't have the items to make it. Then the food started to come out, very intermittently. Remember how I told you I ordered an appetizer and entree? Well, my entree arrived well before my appetizer. Since my entree came first I went with Cod Fish & Chips. This comes with fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies. The highlight of this place were the hushpuppies. They were amazing, flavorful and of a decent size. The fries were dead cold. The cod was decent, lukewarm at best, and the coating was a bit much. It wasn't a fluffy, crunchy batter, it was like it was densely packed in cornmeal. The coleslaw, yikes. I've had vinegar forward slaw, but this one was a bit overpowering. And remember they are a fusion restaurant, the Cajun portion of this was the punch in the face that when paired with that vinegar forward slaw, is not a good mix. The appetizer, Boxty, was definitely the highlight of the whole meal for me. This right here was redeemable and maybe that is why it showed up after my entree. It made me forget about the entree. Two perfectly, huge, traditional potato pancakes. It is served with a Cajun remoulade. If I would have tried this first, I would have seen how the fusion worked. Because this truly worked. The remoulade mixed well with the potato pancake. That plate, was absolutely empty when my plates were picked up. What overshadowed all this was the service. Honestly, it really wasn't their fault, or at least totally their fault. It was the employees. Some kitchen staff, we were told, did not show up. Couple that with no prep work being done the night before or earlier in that day made for slow food preparation. On top of the kitchen staff not showing up, some servers did not show up as well. Our server, who was amazing and charming, was stretched thin. She was humble and took everything in stride. She even thought, in her mind, that most of this was her fault. Honey, you did nothing wrong, you are doing your job and showed up. Your suggestions to us were spot on, and you need to remember you didn't prepare the food. This place is redeemable, but only after they get the staffing straight and hire the right people. If I am ever back in the area, I will give it another try. Especially since the place is beautiful and kind of reminiscent of New Orleans. That two-floored restaurant with outdoor seating on both levels and the outdoor fans really give off the Big Easy.

This place was absolutely horrible! I will never go back. I love Irish pubs, so I was interested…read morein the cajun twist. Boy, was I disappointed!!! There are so many things I could say about this horrible experience that lasted way longer than it should have! Let's start with our drinks. I ordered a long island and my husband a beer that was listed on their beer list. Over 10 minutes later, I received my drink (that was yellow and looked like someone's margerita), and they said they did not have Blue Moon!! So he ordered a different beer on the same list. That, too, was not available......we found out 5 minutes later. He finally ordered a beer that was recommended to be close to a blue moon. My long island was terribly sweet! It was horrible! My entire table received their food while I sat there with a cornbread side, my horrible drink and my remoulade on the side. I ordered a grilled chicken with swiss cheese and the sauce on the side. I NEVER received my food! My server finally came to me to tell me she gave it to another table! So the other table not only received my special order but also their original fried chicken sandwich, origional order, leaving me with a cornbread side and a side of remoulade sauce. The gumbo that someone ordered at my table was horrible! It was a seafood gumbo that had beef in it. The cornbread side was good but only had 4 muffins, and I asked for it to be an appetizer for the table. I should have been told there were only 2 and would have ordered more for the table to each eat one. I should have been given the wrong order while they corrected my order. Instead when I asked to pay our bill, she apologized and continued arguing with me when I said she should not have left me with nothing and should have given me the order that was available even if it was wrong. Yes, I said I wanted grilled and not the fried chicken, but I should have been offered the correct item I ordered in addition to the incorrect one. Hospitality service is obviously something they need to work on! I am pretty sure it was the manager who asked the server what was going on but never came to our table to say anything to us. She just watched us walk out. I wish I had pictures to share......by the time this happened, everyone had already started eating, and I did not want to show partially eaten food.

For everything, it was priced at $29.99, which was quite reasonable considering the portion size. The inside of the restaurant was cozy with a family-friendly diner feel. The music playing was very entertaining. Each table had a great variety of condiments available, including hot sauces, ketchup, mustard, etc. Overall, J.W. Beverette's Soul Food was a solid choice for experiencing comforting, delicious soul food. Needless to say with our recent run on Oyster Bars knew we had to stop in Fresh off the road we worked up an appetite and got right to it. We ordered some Patron doubles, which honestly were crazy over priced at $18 a shot, some chargrilled oysters, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, gumbo, and bienville oysters just so we could have a sampler of multiple items To get right to the point, the chargrilled oysters which were freshly shucked or smothered with butter and cheese and absolute money! The Bienville were covered with shrimp had a healthy amount of crab meat and a creamy Parmesan sauce that were good but something about char-grilled Flavor that made these take a back seat The fried green tomatoes were very crisp on the outside and delicious texture on the inside but the signature crawfish sauce I can't put my finger on it but it was absolutely amazing The crab cakes were no lie 99% crab with next to no filler which is rare nowadays and the remoulade sauce was totally made in house And then finally the gumbo which was highly recommended due to all the achievements it's one, had the right balance of heat spice shrimp, crawfish, crab meat and, okra is a must try! The po-boy fish sandwich was a healthy sized fillet and you could tell was fried to perfection All in all I feel this was a great experience just touching down in Alabama, the only thing that made us laugh was we tried all this hot food when it was 102° outside.
