I brought my son here for the first time today. We had previously been going to a different barber, and after a few not so great haircuts, decided it was time to switch it up. I wish I had made the switch wayyyy sooner! Miss Veronica was so sweet, and very skilled. She was really attentive and understanding of how I wanted his hair to look, which was great because I'm terrible at explaining anything to do with boy's haircuts. The shop is small, but cozy, and had a family vibe. It definitely seems like everyone who goes there knows what's up. Pricing was great, $20 for a youth haircut. I've been meaning to move to a barber for a long time now, I've been a long time Great Clips patron mostly out of habit and cost. Now that I am in my 30s, my wife and friends encouraged me to transition to a barber. My biggest hesitance was cost, but CS is very reasonable! Chuck Simon's has so many great reviews and since it's so close to me, I thought I'd give it a shot. I first tried one barber, but we didn't quite click. And then tried Tom and he was excellent. Very amicable, quick and efficient. He gives a great fade and I recently am trying a new hairstyle which he is helping with. The straight razor cleanup is nice and I love the ability to schedule ahead of time on their website. Parking is ok, more around the side, it's also right next to a dance studio of some sort. 5 stars for an outstanding barber shop. When it comes to barber shops, it seems like prices keep going up (even at chains) while quality keeps going down. I luckily found a gem of a spot while I was up in DC, but I was scared that my gem would be lost once I moved back to Atlanta. Fortunately, I went to Yelp to look for a barber and found a Chuck Simon's shop located right in my neighborhood on North Druid Hills Road! I've seen other barbers with good reviews not deliver, but I was willing to give him a spot. I looked to book online about half an hour before the place closed, but saw nothing was available. I decided to call the shop to see if they could squeeze me in. After a brief automated part of the call, Chuck himself picks up and tells me that they can fit me in. I head over and arrive to find only 2 people in the shop. One was Alexander (the gentleman Chuck mentioned on the phone who could fit me in) and one of the other barbers named Dorothy. They greeted me as if I were part of the family and sat me down to get started. I found a pretty interesting dichotomy as I was getting my haircut. Alexander is a Russian (I believe) fellow who will talk to you as much or as little as you want. I'm usually a big fan of not talking much with my barber, but Dorothy came over to say hello and was just an absolute delight for conversation. As Alexander was doing excellent work on my hair, Dorothy chatted with me about the area and various other things before Chuck walked in the door to help clean up for the day. Despite being the owner, he was a really down to Earth guy who also made me feel like part of the family. The pleasant time plus the great price for a haircut (only $18 and I could use my card aka something my previous barber strongly encouraged against) made for a great haircut experience. Overall, Chuck Simon's Barber Shop provided me with a great haircut for a fair price. That along with the pleasant conversation makes this my go-to barber in the area. read more

Chuck's is a great local spot to get a good value cut. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have a healthy dose of lifelong 'Chuckers' who may have never had a cut anywhere else! I LOVE YOU CHUCK SIMON'S. I strolled in here to get a fade for less than $50 (which is unheard of in midtown, Atlanta) and hoped for the best. Among the sea of places to get a haircut in Atlanta, Chuck Simon's is among the best! They have convenient online booking, are super friendly, and most importantly of all they do a good job with your hair. Whereas some barbers might get annoyed when you nitpick certain details to get your best cut, the barbers here are more than happy to work with you until you are satisfied. When I walked in I was greeted very kindly by all of the staff, and they did their best to make me feel right at home. Chuck himself is an active owner of this shop, and he is an expert at his craft. I have left very few reviews on anything EVER, but the overall experience and the quality work performed at Chuck Simon's have sold me. I've been here before by myself, and had a wonderful haircut, no issues at all. So I decided to give it another try and bring my son along with me. My older son tagged along, but he wasn't going to get a haircut. The owner himself, Chuck, was nice enough when I first came in, telling me we would get taken care of as soon as they finished with the folks him and another barber were working on, plus one more waiting ahead of me. An older gentleman walked in in the interim and quietly sat down. Imagine when my turn is up, and Chuck heads toward the other man while saying to me that the other barber will take care of me, as he will work on this gentleman. The one who came in 45 minutes after me. Is my time not as valuable? I'd waited about an hour vs. this man's 15 minute wait. Chuck then proceeds to block my exit saying this other man is on some kind of list. Did he have some kind of appointment I wondered? It would have been nice to know when he walked in so I could adjust my decision-making process accordingly. My dad was a barber for 55 years before he passed away, so I'm not ignorant of how it all works. But this is no way to do business. I was made to feel small and unimportant simply because it looks like a business owner decided in favor of a regular over a potential pair of new customers, my son and I, without ever trying to explain himself until it was way too late. That's no way to run a business. 08/02/17: What a difference it makes when the owner is willing to reach out and offer you a new experience. That's what Chuck did when he read my Yelp review, writing to me to apologize even before Yelp published it. He explained his side of the story, acknowledging that, on weekends, he does work off a call-in list, if not actual appointments. He admitted that this is unclear to a new customer like myself, and he would post something to change that. He offered to come in before the shop opens and personally cut both my and my son's hair at no charge. I took him up on the offer, except I paid him anyway. It was time for the hubster to remove about 5 pounds of hair. This is the second time he's been to Chuck's. Chuck's is a cute little no frills neighborhood barber shop right by our apartment. You know his customers have been coming for years when you hear them ask for "The Usual." We walked in around 10AM and there was no wait. The inside had around 5-6 stations. His barber was Alex Z. The prices are very reasonable and even though they have to raise prices slightly in 2015 the owner is kind enough to post a sign saying that the folks have challenged budgets he's willing to try to accommodate them. I ended up getting the best haircut I've had in 10 to 12 years at the most affordable price ever, $16. I've been twice now and both times I've walked in on a Friday afternoon and hopped into Alex's chair without a wait. Fantastic. My previous place had a clubby atmosphere with about 10 barbers and you needed to make a reservation two or three days out just to get in. That's not this place. I have a penchant for old style Barber shops, and when I found Chuck's place on North Druid Hills 10+ years ago, I knew my hair had found a home. Chuck takes his time to learn what your likes and dislikes are, and he carefully crafts a precision cut for you every time, just like professionals at an old time Barber Shop used to do (you never feel rushed). Also, Chuck still ends the cut with a hot lather shave on my neck, which is a great feeling and great ending to a cut. For a wonderful traditional cut and always great conversation and atmosphere, Chuck's can't be beaten. I live in Roswell and pass hundreds of places to get my hair cut in Decatur. 'Nuff said.
