I am happy to say that even 3 years later the quality of the food and their prices have not changed that much. They continue to be a local go-to restaurant for my family and I. I have posted several photos of their meals and the decor. If you are looking for modern or upscale decor, this is not the place for you. This place has decor that will bring you back to the 70's and 80's with the carpet, murals, wall decor and the historical photos that post taken from the local area of Livermore Falls. Their cactus chicken are breaded by the staff and cooked to order. They do not feel like a frozen chicken tender that you would find some other establishments. Horrible business people. We were regulars; they knew us; and last time we came in, were told that the kitchen could no longer make me pasta with veggies because it was "not on the menu" (I am vegan). The delivery of the news was callus, unapologetic, and as if I was really obnoxious to ask. As a result of this, we left and went to the competitor down the street--and are not going back. I strain to think of any eatery where I've been told they can't/won't make me anything without meat and allowed me to walk out the door. read more

The Chuck Wagon is a national treasure. If you don't know, now you know. The interior has a FULL SIZE scenic mural in the back room. The chandeliers are made from WAGON WHEELS. There is a literal WAGON in the back room as the bar. We used to have a Chuck Wagon in Rockland where I grew up but they went out of business over 25 years ago. It's great to know the Chuck Wagon in Livermore Falls is still staying strong. The food was classic old school Maine. The roll is a prime example of that. My husband and I have been to Chuckwagon several times in the past month. We have really enjoyed our lunches there. The food is good, but not fancy. Their fried haddock is good in a sandwich or as fish and chips. The staff is very friendly. The service is excellent. They have customers spaced out appropriately in their dining room. Grew up in the area and have always been satisfied with the Chuck Wagon. For a small restaurant in a small town, the Chuck Wagon has great food options from steak to chicken, to different pasta dishes. Awesome dinner rolls to start every meal as well! The Chuckwagon is like taking a trip through time. It has some old school charm with its down home decor. The place fits the name and that's the way I like it. They had some interesting entrees with fish, chicken, steak, and BBQ among them. I settled on a 1/2 rack of ribs. They arrived cooked tender. The texture was good, but the flavor was a bit lacking. Sauce was needed to liven these ribs up. That shouldn't be needed with ribs. The sides were ok but nothing special. My bloody mary was fairly lame. Stick to the beer and you'll do ok. read more

We were late to eat when we were in Livermore Falls and hungry. So we went to this place in the center of town on the corner. Not too busy at the time, but still serving. The portion was adequate to take care of the hunger, though we were not all that impressed with the food. We had simple burgers and fries... kinda basic to make no ? We stopped in for a late dinner (8pm) while visiting family and we're thrilled that they are open until 9, yay! Two kids and two adults, we were served quickly and thoroughly. We had the sirloin tips, chicken and broccoli alfredo, cactus chicken strips, grilled cheese, and mozzarella sticks. All of our dishes were tasty and for a great price! My husband and I just moved to town and decided to try the chuck wagon. It was clean and the staff was friendly. My husband and I both ordered burgers. My husband said he enjoyed his but said it was because there was a ton of bbq sauce. My burger was awful and that's putting it lightly. It was cooked wrong with absolutely no seasoning at all. Tried adding salt pepper and even ketchup and even that didn't help. I had the onion rings as a side and that was basically the only food I was able to eat. Even after telling the waitress about my burger she giggled and walked away. It's unfortunate that this little restaurant in an awesome small town isn't up to par. read more

This place is pure gold. Service is superb. Right on the beaten path(Rt.4, Livermore falls) look for the big Chuck Wagon on the corner. Order the cactus chicken, heck order it twice. Don't overthink it cowboy, just get yourself in there get some of that freshly fried gold in or around your mouth before the local economy goes any further downhill and the place is forced to close shop. Matter of fact, maybe you could do your part to stimulate the local economy by taking a 20 piece cactus chicken "to-go". Pro Tip:They're just as good the next day. This restaurant has been around the Livermore Falls area for as long as I can remember. The waitress that we have had for the last two times that we have been in there was just okay she sure does know the menu though and that's a help. However once you order you never see her again. The food is not too bad for short-order Cooks I guess the steak tips are quite good very tender. It is the only restaurant in Livermore Falls so there's not much of a choice. I do have to say that the interior is very very dated there could be some improvements there. The prices are reasonable for what you get and I do have to admit the onion rings are awesome. read more

Our family comes up from NY every year during the summer and winter. We always look forward to coming to the chuck wagon. The burgers are great and the cactus chicken is very flavorful too. I can remember when the Chuck Wagon was the best place to go in the area. Now it's really sub-par. I hadn't been there in a while, so I decided to take my mother out to lunch. We ordered fish chowder (just potatoes, and haddock that tasted more like tuna...) that was absolutely disgusting. She ordered a paradis burger, well done, and it came out rare. My cactus chicken fingers were delicious, but my mashed potatoes were gross, they tasted like potato flakes. We ordered raspberry cake for dessert, and it was soo stale! For just that, the total was $60, which I feel the lunch wasn't even close to worthy of that price. The waitress was nice, but slow to refill our drinks. Also, it seemed like the microwave was used every five minutes. Do they actually have somebody that personally cooks the food? read more

We moved to the area 2 years ago and kept wanting to try this place. I heard the food was good but service not so much. I found that description to be accurate. The good was good, not great or spectacular. I had baked scallops. Kind of expensive for a plate of about 10 scallops. They were good though. The waitress was terrible. She couldn't remember what any of us ordered even though she wrote it down. My 2 year old daughter was with us and she wasn't given crayons or a menu to color on, so I assumed they didn't have that until I saw other kids with them, so I had to ask a different waitress for those. When our drinks came out, my daughter was served Cranberry juice in a regular adult sized glass...a GLASS! I had to ask for a refill on my soda 4 times and was about to go up to the hostess stand with my glass to ask when we finally got service. My husband got the wrong sides with his dish as well. The place was packed, the waitress was an older lady, but I don't feel either is an excuse for good service. We would go back here because it is 2 miles from the house and there isn't much in Livemore Falls, we just will make sure we have more patience and know what to expect next time. read more
