Blackened salmon over the roasted beet and goat cheese salad

Came for live music this afternoon after the Art Walk, but after signing in and going on the waitlist, the music packed up and left. Bummer we missed it! It was hot and muggy outside but we would've tolerated that for some live music - had we arrived an hour earlier. So we decided to sit inside. The AC was on full strength! So that was refreshing. I was a little chilly by the end of my meal, with goosebumps. But no complaints, like I said, it was muggy outside. I'll take the cool when I can get it! The waitress staff were BUSY today! Carefully marching around platters of many drinks in glasses, navigating foot traffic, small children nearly feral, some heavy doors, and a flight of stairs to the various levels of patio. Kudos to your athleticism for that accomplishment! Goodness! I helped the door open for one young lady that was sweating by bullets carrying about nineteen cold beers on one hand. Food was STELLAR! I had the "Ultimate Grilled Cheese" which was a trio of tasty melted gooey cheeses with applewood smoked bacon thick cut, a tomato pesto on garlic Parmesan crusted Naan bread. Served with a side of salt and vinegar fries. YUMMMMY!

We sat in their outside Patio when music was playing. Beautiful night, plenty of Beer selections, service was very good and their service was excellent. They also brought a water bowl for our Golden. You have to check in inside if you want to sit at a table and you have to order drinks from the bar too! Wait time wasn't long and before we knew we had a table. I tried their fish n chips and the fish was very good, didn't care for the fries they were soft and not crunchy. My husband had the Lobster Roll with a side of fries. He said it was ok but did like the fries. Look up their music schedule it was very pleasant to sit outside. Enjoy!

Our food was phenomenal... Debbie, our waitress was even better. She was super fast cheerful and seemed to really love what she does! We just moved to Maine from New York and this restaurant really stood out. Wonderful service absolutely amazing food. The expresso martini was really stood out but wow I'm speechless when it comes to the Reuben... hands-down one of the best Reubens I've ever had. If I could give this place 100 starr I would!! We will definitely be back!

A great beer menu for lovers of all things craft beer. Very friendly bartender at lunch time and she knew the food items and beer list, always nice to see. I had the fish tacos and I was not a fan. I love fish tacos but this piece of fish was more like an unseasoned slab of fish on a taco. French fries and with the aioli were really good. Chicken salad wrap also didn't make the grade, sort of tasted like tuna salad, but was definitely chicken. Odd. Nice ambiance inside, also outdoor seating- all areas rustic and comfortable.

Cheers to 40 years! Appreciated the full spectrum of options for both food and drink. Enjoyed the beet and goat cheese salad. Walked in and was seated. Easily found parking across the street. My only thing was the air conditioning blowing on me during lunch. Such a first world problem. Ha. Service was super friendly!

Time for a little update!…read more It's been a hot minute since we've been back to visit -- four years, actually -- and the fact that this gem still exists says something! This time we brought the whole family for dinner. I'd recommend reservations on weekends since it was packed, but we got seated right away because we planned ahead. Our waitress was top-notch -- high energy, charming, attentive. I'd give her 6 stars if I could! She read our crew well and adapted to each individual at the table -- a skill that clearly came from experience, and it served her (and us) well. Everything we had was great: cocktails, appetizers, dinner -- not a bad thing on the table. But the standouts for me were the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Spicy Shrimp Shio Ramen. For drinks, the seasonal Crazy (whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, beet, cayenne, lemon, egg white) and the Veruca Salt (tequila, coconut, avocado, pineapple, lime) were both incredible. I loved them so much I'm making a special trip back to town during my stay just to have them again ;) Bravo, State Lunch! You've got a fan for life. Book that reservation -- you won't be disappointed.

It must have been an off night. the workers were still there in the back and there was one two top sitting on the patio outside. now that the scene is painted, let's move onto the food. the guy at the register was super helpful as it was my first time visiting any of the brickyard hollow locations. I got the small blueberry pizza (6 slices), which has certainly made the rounds on social media as one of the best pizzas in maine. the food came out pretty quick, hot and fresh. as someone who could easily eat a small pizza to himself, it did make me want an in between size (medium) as they only have small or large pizzas. the toppings on the pizza were maine blueberries, lemon ricotta, and shallots on an olive oil base. I loved the flavor and it was substantial enough for a meal even though it seemed like more of a dessert pizza when I first heard of it. it's a savory and slightly sweet pizza that works really well. I saw they also have a maine blueberry pancake pizza for breakfast which also sounds like something I need to try. definitely on my list of quick and easy dinners. tl;dr get the maine blueberry pizza for lunch or dinner, it's worth it! they only have two sizes: small or large. they also have blueberry pancake pizza for breakfast, too.

We were seated promptly and our drink orders went right in while we looked at the menu. I had never been here before, we asked what the server recommends. She was spot on. We started with a round of pulled pork nachos for the table. I went with shrimp tacos (aioli on the side as I was worried about spice level). Others at the table had the Reuben, chicken tacos, and house chili. Our drinks came out fast, the food was not far behind, our eyes were met with generous portions nicely garnished. The pulled pork nachos were exactly what we expected southerwestern-y cumin-y deliciousness assisted by sour cream, and fresh salsa goodness everything was perfectly seasoned. My shrimp tacos came with lime, avocado, and purple cabbage with spicy aioli on the side. The meaty shrimp with the crisp cabbage were all mellowed together by the creamy avocado. I would eat them for days. Everyone in my party cleaned their plates! The atmosphere is country-chic. There is a saloon decor vibe but it's also hipster steam punk meets old west. The main dining area is clean, spacious and was decorated for the holiday. By the time we left the dining room was a little over half capacity with folks peppered around the bar. It wasn't too noisy, there is country music in the background, but it was fine for conversation. The overall vibe is fun, light, and hospitable, plus there was a pinch of yule-time joy in the air. There is a front and rear entrance, parking is on the street. Around the back of downtown are assorted free parking lots there is also a free parking garage nearby as well, so parking is not a problem. Downtown Augusta is always dolled up this time of year with twinkling lights, snowmen, and such. I recommend The Whiskey Kitchen. Whether you need a space for a working lunch - there is Wi-Fi- looking for a special gathering for an occasion make The Whiskey Kitchen your destination!

Seating and Ambiance: They have outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating as well. The couches inside are so comfortable. They also allow pups inside which I appreciated it! On a hot summer day, it was difficult for our pup to be out so this really came in handy and allowed us to have a good time. The inside area is SO spacious. Half of it is an arcade/game room with plenty of arcade games so make sure you bring some quarters. Pours: We had 4 pints and took a 4-pack to go, all for $48. The beers were really good. I really enjoyed their IPA "Cease and Desist" which they said was their most popular one. Service: We had the best service.
