    Rib brisket combo

Surprisingly good! We went in a bit jaded due to experience at their other lackluster location. And this one was way better. Excellent service and quick considering the instant popularity. We got a reservation for 7 people a few days before and it was crowded. The ribs were tender. The brisket juicy but one serving had way too much fat. Fries and collards were delicious. Beans, on the other hand, were boring and cold on arrival. One person said the bread used for sandwiches was bland. Local beer menu was ok. The atmosphere is comfy and the outdoor patio will be welcome in spring.

Wow! They certainly do barbecue right! We had the sampler for 2, which in itself is a treat since most barbecue places don't offer samplers. The brisket was so tender and moist! The dry rub on the ribs was delicious and the ribs were perfectly smoked and moist. I loved the smoked sausage, especially that they were simply a delicious mix of meat and spices and not hot. The chicken was well seasoned as was the pulled pork. All the meats were excellent on their own and then we tried the house sauces and we each found 1 that was our favorite. My husband liked the one with Maine blueberries and I liked the Texas based one. It also came with beans, potato salad, fresh pickles, coleslaw, and corn bread, and all were very good. The waitress was fantastic and attentive. We had enough leftover for 2 more meals! We will go back!!

One of the best barbecue places I've been to--everything tasted delicious! My new favorite restaurant in Gardiner.

New Year's Eve was a great time to check out the newest Buck's Naked BBQ in Gardiner. They have a super efficient text system that was useful as I waited for my friend to arrive and our table to be ready. We were so pleased with the separate gluten free menu which made choices easy. Everything was delicious and my favorites were the smoked wings and brisket. All 4 sauce options were available at the table to try. The atmosphere was festive and service great. 10/10 will be back.

Dined here before a performance @ Johnson Hall. Our meals were very good. The brisket taco special was wonderful.

Enjoyed the combination platter appetizer. Love the blueberry barbeque sauce. Burnt ends to die for. Yum.

The atmosphere of this wine shop is completely retro and fun. Great old records for sale, vintage clothes rack out back for some thrift shopping, fun and fresh bottles of wine to take home. We sat right at the bar next to the records were playing and the owner switched records frequently and always had something fun playing. The wine here was so much fun - as someone who works in wine sales it's always refreshing to see a bar changing what wines they serve and have something new open every day. They don't have a set wine list, i believe they just choose what they want when they want and display what they are serving by the glass on a shelf behind the bar. I love that idea so you can go often and always be able to try something new. I would have had some snacks along with my wine if we had not just come from lunch but i will definitely be back since this menu always changes with what is fresh. A great spot in this area and i'm excited to go back already.

I had a Black Manhattan cocktail, supposedly differing from an ordinary Manhattan by use of a different kind of bitters (Amaro) and "filthy cherries." These seemed like basic good quality maraschinos to me (3); nothing "filthy" about them. Nevertheless it was good, fruity, and ample strength. The appetizer selection was small and heavy on bread-based items. (No free table bread was available - grrrr.) Most didn't appeal but the Roasted Garlic did, served with bread (2 kinds: a toasted crostini and a fresh crusty sourdough). The garlic was a whole head, sliced open for easy access and presented on a very hot plate, sweet and mellow from long slow roasting, and served with a choice of cheeses (molten blue, brie, whipped feta, or chèvre) - I chose chèvre and it was very good and a generous portion. A very simple dish not often encountered in restaurants. In retrospect this was the best part of the meal. I felt a little rushed at times and impatient at other times. It took a very long time to get the appetizer so I had nothing to dilute the effects of the strong cocktail. But then more than once I was asked about my entree before I was ready; once when ordering the appetizer and another time soon after I received it and hadn't made up my mind yet. I held my ground and told them I wasn't quite ready, and they accepted that and I took my time eating. There was an eclectic selection of wines by the glass. I had an interesting rosé from Slovenia. My entree was a roasted fish filet (halibut I think? It's no longer listed on the menu) served over a tomato-based sauce. This sauce was richly scented and complex and the plate was attractively garnished with micro greens. But the fish was on the small side and the flavor was monotonous - no discernible browning on the top. The other component, probably an herby cucumber-yogurt sauce resembling raita, which should have been a cool complement to the hot tomato broth, instead was melting unattractively and dispersing into it. Perhaps most disappointing, there was nothing else to this dish. It needed a starch or something (rice, boiled potatoes, or even more of those very good breads from the appetizer - wish I had saved some.) So it's good I got the appetizer first, or I would have left rather hungry. Desserts were also very limited and most didn't appeal. I decided on the Clafouti, which is a baked tart, thicker and heavier than flan, with fruit (black cherries) It was way too hot, didn't have enough fruit, and ice cream would be a far better choice than the amorphous blob of whipped cream it was served with. I should have skipped dessert. It was so boring. As for ambience: it's a crowded, noisy place but in a pleasing way. Very small, and I had reserved one of the 6 seats at the bar (I was dining solo). It's whimsically decorated, like with the grape-covered nude statue holding a candle. There was attractive artwork on the walls, some of which I believe was for sale. I did detect smoky odors coming from the kitchen that other reviewers have noted but I consider that a positive thing, not a negative. So come here if you wish. Check it out and form your own opinion. As for me, I wasn't sufficiently impressed and wouldn't return.
