Such a different vibe than the location in Freeport, but that's a good thing! I love it! They've put up some really art that feels like a museum of oddities. A BEAUTIFUL lounge area to the side of the bar. With green velvety chairs and a cool retro looking couch. Service was great, Melissa (I think?) was super kind and sweet! Our food was tasty, we ordered brisket plates, with baked beans, potato salad and cornbread. Delish!!! They also have an incredible sounding drink menu! I've got to go back and have drinks at the bar. I'm so excited to have this restaurant downtown Gardiner, right next to Johnson Hall Opera House. This location of Buck's Naked BBQ opened today and it's a hit in our books! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and excited about this new Gardiner location. After being an established restaurant in Freeport for years now, it seems like this will be a great addition to the Gardiner restaurant scene. Stopping in on opening night, we left our expectations open as we knew it would be a new experience for all involved: us, other customers, servers, chefs, etc. We were definitely pleased with our experience, enjoyed some quality food, and are excited to go back in the future. We ended up trying the ribs, burnt ends, chicken wings, and brisket. What an array of delicious BBQ! They were out of a few things, so this was basically the smoked sampler but with brisket instead of sausage. The menu does specify no substitutions so we wouldn't expect this every time, but we appreciated their ability to offer such a nice a selection on their busy opening night. All the meats were slow cooked to perfection and had delicious flavor from their dry rubs. They had four types of BBQ sauces on the table too, which paired nicely with the meats. My two favorites were the North Carolina style and the Blueberry Haze. For sides and starters, we had the coleslaw, mac and cheese, corn bread, fried onion strings, and fried dill pickle chips. The fried pickles were breaded nicely, weren't too greasy or too sharp of a vinegar flavor, and they paired nicely with the ancho lime mayo. The cornbread was straightforward and good, a little sweet but not overly so. The onions were great, very similar to a blooming onion but less messy to eat. The mac and cheese was very creamy with a subtle smoky flavor, which was delicious! And the coleslaw was also a standout, with a creamy base, finely shredded cabbage and carrots, and great flavor. Surprisingly good! We went in a bit jaded due to experience at their other lackluster location. And this one was way better. Excellent service and quick considering the instant popularity. We got a reservation for 7 people a few days before and it was crowded. The ribs were tender. The brisket juicy but one serving had way too much fat. Fries and collards were delicious. Beans, on the other hand, were boring and cold on arrival. One person said the bread used for sandwiches was bland. Local beer menu was ok. The atmosphere is comfy and the outdoor patio will be welcome in spring. read more

Wow! They certainly do barbecue right! We had the sampler for 2, which in itself is a treat since most barbecue places don't offer samplers. The brisket was so tender and moist! The dry rub on the ribs was delicious and the ribs were perfectly smoked and moist. I loved the smoked sausage, especially that they were simply a delicious mix of meat and spices and not hot. The chicken was well seasoned as was the pulled pork. All the meats were excellent on their own and then we tried the house sauces and we each found 1 that was our favorite. My husband liked the one with Maine blueberries and I liked the Texas based one. It also came with beans, potato salad, fresh pickles, coleslaw, and corn bread, and all were very good. The waitress was fantastic and attentive. We had enough leftover for 2 more meals! We will go back!! read more

They have a super efficient text system that was useful as I waited for my friend to arrive and our table to be ready. We were so pleased with the separate gluten free menu which made choices easy. Everything was delicious and my favorites were the smoked wings and brisket. All 4 sauce options were available at the table to try. Everything is FABULOUS!! *Waitress- super kind & attentive. *Food- so good I'm in a food coma (fried pickles, cheese burger (his) & a fried chicken sandwich (me) *Drinks- tastes so freaking good !! I got the Naked Dance & they also have some drafts too, or nice wines. Partner had a watermelon high noon I remember when this used to be The Blind Pig- & they did such a gorgeous remodel & honor to the previous place, while also taking this spot on for a new business such as Bucks Naked BBQ. Millennial management madness really needs to end. When there's a 30-40 minute wait for 2 people and only 5 ahead of you and more than 12 tables empty is ridiculous. I'm sorry but if a server is more efficient, they get more tables. Stopping business to keep counts equitable is nonsense. Also bar pickup in the middle of the restaurant? Duh, on the side and back. I ordered a take-out order last night around 7:30 pm, I had gotten the Que-Pu platter and a side of mac and cheese. When ordering, I was told they were out of ribs. That's what I was looking forward to, but oh well, they have me extra wings. When I got to the location, they then proceeded to tell me that they were out of sausage. (To their credit, they tried to call me, but my spam filter blocked it). okay what ever, they threw in some extra burnt ends. I understand it is towards the end of the day when things run out. What I was not a fan of was the quality of the food; some food was hot, like the pulled pork and the wings, which I did really like and enjoy, and some stuff was not, like the burnt ends. Speaking of the bunt ends, they were burnt, like charred, not just a little, like all I could taste was carbon and salt. Some of them were literally crusted white with salt. On top of being extra burnt and way too salty, it was bone dry and lukewarm. I would be more understanding if I didn't spend $40 on this. I don't mind paying for good food, but this quality just was not there. Service was good, everyone was super friendly when I picked it up, and apologetic about being out of stuff, but the quality control is just not there. read more

Stopped in our way home from a Seadogs game. Had to grab food and two beers in the basement bar (just after 9:00). Fries were SOOO salty we could not eat them- pulled pork sandwich was incredibly salty too. Ordered a Lunch IPA and was shocked to find that it was $14.75. Wife have a can of Apres seltzer and that was $8.50! So, crappy pulled pork sandwich, 6 wings, and 2 drinks, total? $54.75.... I would literally tell you to go to McDonald's down the road.
