We chose this spot for a first visit because we've been longtime fans of Pizzeria Otto in a different part of LO, and we wanted to compare them. Unfortunately, there is no comparison. The main problem here is the pizza dough, which is dry, flat and hard. The pizza looks like a frozen take-home item. No puffy crust, thick & hard bottom, and low on flavor. Honestly, we were amazed at how unimpressive the dough was. The toppings on one of the pizzas were delicious. The other was just average in terms of toppings. And the chopped salad was decent, but not very flavorful. This place is in trouble, IMO. Otto is not far away and turning out a far superior product for less money. We won't be returning. read more

What an awful experience, and we didn't even get to eat there. We arrived last night at about 5:50pm to see if we could get a table. The gentleman at the host area said we could but they wouldn't have an opening until about 7pm, so we gave our info. And waited. 7pm comes around and we go to check how much longer, he said he was doing his best to squeeze us in. Which doesn't make sense if we are put on a list. We waited and waited....1hr 50mins.........finally went to another restaurant at 7:40. We never got a text for our table. It literally ruined the vibe of our evening. If you don't have tables and can't sit walk ins, don't take names and phone numbers and give times as if you have a list. read more

I'd like to update and rewrite my review on my take out order of Red Sauce Pasta spaghetti. Yes, I was disappointed with the amount of red sauce but in retrospect it was because the sauce that was there tasted so good, I just wanted more of it. They were very very, busy on that Friday evening dinner service so I can understand if something got a bit short-changed. I love this place. The food is good, the drinks are good, and it's reasonably priced. The ambience is fine, a little hard to get out of the hustle and bustle since there aren't really private tables but it's not a huge place so that's fine. The best thing about this place is the staff. Jackson is professional, personable, always seems happy and makes you feel welcome. Tierney is always busy but friendly and efficient. Truly the most pathetic pizza I've ever eaten. Wish I could give zero stars. Pathetic. Our daughter graciously offered to order dinner tonight, ordered the spicy sausage gf pizza (choice of udis or cauliflower crust) for 17.00 + 3.00 for the gf option, so, 20.00 for a 9 " burnt, cardboard crust that had a smear of sauce with 8 tiny chunks of sausage. The pizza and calzone here are pretty fantastic. I liked everything about the pizza. The crust wasn't too thick, but not too thin either. The calzone however, is the true winner here. It was absolutely superb. Stuffed with enough food to make you full, but not sick. Small enough to enjoy, but big enough that you don't need to buy two. read more

From the lackadaisical greeting by the host to the following experience, I will never eat here again: After our party of two was seated, we ordered and waited and waited and waited for our cheese & cracker appetizer. It turns out the table next to ours received OUR appetizer when they HADN'T even ordered any food yet! WTF! We overheard the other party literally asking what the dish was when the waiter set it down on the table-they didn't know because they didn't even order it! This other diner had the nerve to say "We didn't order yet but we'll take it!" As soon as the waiter set it on the table, the family started devouring it-so there was no way for him to reclaim it. We noticed the waiter glancing at our table yet he avoided eye contact with us. When we realized what had happened, we concluded that the kitchen had to remake our appetizer and that set back our pizza order as well. When the appetizer finally arrived, the server didn't acknowledge the mistake or apologize for the delay. In fact, NOBODY said anything, assuming we wouldn't notice. WTH! There's really no excuse for the lack of communication or an apology -it was empty when we arrived on a weekday afternoon. If anything-they seemed overstaffed-we noticed our waiter standing around chit chatting about half the time we were there. read more

Overall: Great location, great service, yummy food! Atmosphere: There have indoor and outdoor seating. Both indoors and outdoors was very pleasant. The vibe is elegant and welcoming. This a good place for a date, family dinner, and for friends. Food: Tried the White Pie and it was good. All of the cheeses that are included in this pizza (ricotta, Parmesan, and mascarpone) didn't give off and distinguishing flavors. There was a balsamic drizzle on top that I guess was supposed to be that flavor that puts everything together but unfortunately it got absorbed by the cheeses and dough so it didn't have any strong taste. Overall the pizza was a little bland and boring. Also got the House Calzone that included cheese, salami, pepperoni and pepperoncini and it wasn't bad. I had the stromboli pizza during lunch. The pizza here is made in a wood fired oven, and it's all individual sized at 9". The menu stated it is made with mozzerella, fontina, parmesan, ricotta, salami, pepperoni, a pepperoncini/hot pepper mix, olive oil and marinara. The pie I was given had some ricotta, pepperoni, marinara and pepperoncinis. See the picture. It was going soggy in the middle by the time the server delivered it to me. The taste was good, once I pulled off all of the peppers. The bartender was also my host and waiter until they started to get busy. He was being the waiter for everyone seated indoors till my pizza arrived, which was delivered by two young people together who were really nervous. They didn't see that the single dad and his daughter seated next to me left their glasses after taking the check from him, so I went after him to get those to them. As a result of the bartender being a jack of all trades, while great poise, he still couldn't be everywhere at once so customers were getting up and taking missing silverware from other tables, getting menus from the front, seating themselves, etc. While this place is decorated beautifully in black and white with splashes of yellow, they really need to work on execution of the menu, service and timing. Chuckie's Pies is a great place to eat if you find yourself in downtown Lake Oswego. I came here for a girls night and we had a fantastic time. First, the service was fantastic. Our waiter was beery attentive - always filling water and checking in on us. We were a party of 5 and we were able to be a seaTed comfortably in the back. This isn't a very large restaurant however there iS a bigger booth in the back that would seat 7-8 people. The food is great! I had the spicy fennel sausage pizza and loved it. Parmesan cheese is available if you request it. I was able to also try the Stromboli pie as well which was a knock out. There are also salads and other starters which I wasn't able to try this trip but I will definitely be back again.
