Chuck is a great mechanic always fair and fast service! He has never over charged me and even gives my wife and I rides when we need them.

I won't come here again. I basically got charged $200 for coolant. He also tried to charge me for wiper blades when I asked for wiper fluid. Some bogus diagnostic that I need new bushings which the price would exceed the value of the vehicle. Says the car is making noise in reverse which is not true. read more

I got ripped off today by CHUCKS AUTOMOTIVE. Tavi the owner charged me for a job he did a year previous. He replaced the rear differential last year and it went out again. He admitted that the last person that put in the rear differential screwed up when I talked to him on the phone. I told him the work was done at his shop and he had nothing more to say. He charged twice for the same job. 1,720$ I have been a long time customer but now am wondering if I had been ripped off this whole time. The guy is a cheat. Go some where else or face the same circumstance. Too bad people have no integrity and have to resort to lying and cheating to make a buck. It's the little thing in life that make us who we are. There's nothing more irritating to me than a person who says something then later denies saying it. We bought a hybrid battery from Chuck for $3769. He agreed to fix all of the other issues on my car. He fixed the driver's side mirror and added coolant for my air conditioner but I also had a flat tire, a bent rim, and a spoiler that needed reattaching. Chuck wasn't clear that he had no intention of doing those things. I ended up stranded because I thought he'd fixed my tire. I then found the warranty info for my battery in my trunk. Why would someone put that type of important information in a car trunk? He should've sent the warranty in; he was required to send the pink copy at the very least, but Chuck wasn't up to that. He has an arrogant, argumentative way about him which, on top of all that, admittedly got under my skin. I hate doing other people's jobs for them. I won't ever go back there. read more

Took my 1998 Ford F150 to Chuck's Automotive so he can change my fuel filler neck and hoses for me. He told me he would charge me for one hour of labor which was $102.00. I told Chuck I bought extra long hoses to make sure that the fuel filler neck will fit flush to the body. After about thirty minutes of working on the car, he came back and told me that the hose I provided wasn't any longer than the old (standard) hose so the fuel filler neck still won't fit flush to the body. I said I know I bought a longer hose but if that's the case then so be it. He also asked me if I want to keep the old parts. I told him that I trusted him and there's no need for it. Big mistake! The next day I noticed the parts box on the floor by the passenger side, so I picked it up to get rid of it. To my surprise, both of the brand new hoses were still there. They didn't change the old hoses at all. I called them this morning and confronted them and quickly they told me that I never told them about changing the hoses. Big lie, because as I said he even came back and told me that the new hose is not longer than the old hose. That statement alone is a big lie because I looked at the specifications and it shows that the standard original hose is 13" long and the one I gave them is 24 inches. Anyway, Chuck became defensive, called me a liar and never go back to his shop again. I hate to give negative reviews but shops like this need to know that consumers are not all ignorant so they should stay honest or get busted. LESSON LEARNED: Always Ask To see The Old Parts. Also, always ask for a documented and detailed estimate to protect you rights at all time. read more

I had used Chuck's several times, altho expensive I felt being a woman and knowing nothing about cars, I was grateful, then he installed a new alternator. I was in Huntington Beach on a busy street, and the car stopped. Thank God bystanders helped push the car to the side of the road. The auto club came, said it was the alternator and towed it to Gustafson Bros. They made several attempts to contact Chucks, to no avail. I was forced to install a new alternator at my expense. Chuck, (not his real name) refused to pay my costs without the old alternator, which by this time had been tossed. Maybe he uses faulty or rebuilt alternators? Gustafson Bros were wonderful, even gave me a discount, since I am a senior citizen. I was told to sue, but I don't believe in lawsuits, and I DO BELIEVE IN YELP. We recently purchased some "discount" cards for services at Chucks Automotive. We were told we get a free oil and filter change with this card but we would have to pay an additional $20 Total for synthetic. We got two of these "discount" cards for our vehicles. We called to make an appointment and the cost was MUCH higher than what was told to us. We definitely got hussled and will be returning our cards for our $79 refund. I have been going to Chuck's for over 5 years and have referred a lot of friends here because he is honest. I am not saying he does the greatest work or saves you thousands of dollars when things go bad, but honesty is more important to me than anything else when it comes to my car repairs. Yes his rates are cheaper than the dealerships and yes his work is quality and warrantied. I prefer you not go to him, because he is just busy enough to fit me in whenever my cars need help.
