Just got cussed out by a plumber. The actual owner, I think of the plumbing company. Chuck's Plumbing The Plumbers Arrived on time. When I took them to the under the house access to where the clean out was and tried to explain the situation, he started yelling at me telling me he wasn't going to take his equipment under the house. He would pull the toilet. Before I could say anything he said,"Listen Motherf*$%ker I'm the professional and you're not telling me how to do my job." I said, "I'm not telling you how to do your job, I'm just trying..." He cut me off. I was still willing to work with him or talk to him, but he called me the same name again. I told him to leave. I said he was being ridiculous. I asked his name and he said I'm Chuck Motherfker. This literally happened in the first 3 minutes he was there. When I called I said the cleanup was under the house. I warned them that this would have to be under the house. I know people are high stress right now, but I have never had a"professional" talk to me like that. I'm actually proud of myself for keeping my cool. I wouldn't trust him around kids or my wife with rage issues like this. read more

It was time to replace our 16 year-old water heaters so we contacted Chuck's Plumbing. Our repairman, Mike, and his team were so professional and knowledgeable. Paying a little more to get hot water instantly throughout the house was a no-brainer. Called for some toilet maintenance, expecting to wait many days for an available appointment during an inconvenient time slot, but Chuck's team got me scheduled within 2 days during my preferred time slot. Jared was my tech, very professional and helpful. He explained what was wrong and how he was going to fix it, giving me all the potential options and pricing before he started working. The pricing options were "all-in, out the door" pricing, none of that "it's only $99"... and then the final bill actually comes to $193.12 when taxes and labor are factored into the equation. The work came with a 90 day warranty, which was extremely handy because there was a minor issue the day after the repair work. I've avoided finding a new plumber for a few years after my favorite regular plumber quit the large company I used to use. Then my tankless water heater had an issue so I tried Chuck's. They were able to schedule in 2 days which was fine as it wasn't an emergency- right before Christmas holiday so I am sure it was busy. We scheduled from 3-5 & day of they called to say they could make it earlier. On his way the plumber had a family emergency however they contacted me about it right away & were still able to send someone out during the 3-5 slot. The plumber they sent, Mike, was very knowledgeable & understood the issue immediately even before opening the tankless water heater (it was with the lines coming from the unit). He replaced the degrading lines, flushed the unit & also fixed a minor drip that had just started in the kitchen sink while the water heater was flushing. As a single woman, I appreciate that they send an email showing their plumbers have a background check, when it was completed along with a photo of the individual. I also appreciate that once I like a particular person I can request that same individual come out for service (understanding that in an emergency I may need first available). Wanted to take a moment to share my most recent experience. Let me preface this by saying the first time we used Chucks we had an awesome experience. Hence, why we reached out again for a leaky faucet. This time however, was completely different. Office staff is great, but the plumber that was sent out was rude, argumentative, and just unprofessional. Daryle came out the first time and convinced my husband and I that we were basically crazy and our faucet wasn't leaking and it was "bone dry." The next day we had water pouring out of the base of the faucet and went through 10 soaked towels in two days. Called Chucks hoping they would send someone else, but the same gentleman showed up. And guess what!? He said there was no leak and that I must have washed dishes and "splashed" water or gave my babies a bath and got water on the counter. So basically blaming me and in my mind, calling me an idiot. Mind you, under the sink was wet too. He literally argued and didn't bother to take apart the faucet when we suggested that might be the problem. Then he tried to charge us $50... ‍ THEN we got an email with "recommendations " from the technician for a $500 faucet and multiple $4000+ water softener!??? ‍ and guess what? We are still experiencing the leak and have towels surrounding the faucet. Haven't washed dishes or my children in the sink... so not sure how the water ended up there. I never leave bad reviews but I want everyone to be aware of this company's attempt to scam me out of hundreds of dollars. First, no matter what they charge you a $49 fee just to come out, and wouldn't give any estimates over the phone. This should have been a red flag for me but I was desperate to get my issue fixed and the person on the phone was nice so I went ahead with them. Big mistake. The worker they sent out was nice enough. However, all I had was a leaky shower head. This guy and his company tried to charge me $430!!!! Then after I balked at the cost he agreed to take $99 off, like $329 was a good deal. I was appalled. Of course at this point I had to pay them the $49 fee for the guy to come out take a 2 second look at my shower and come up with this outrageous price ( no exaggeration either he just glanced at it and created this price on his tablet) so I sent him on his way. So for the part that really frustrates me, as a woman with no plumbing experience I was able to change the cartridge, with some help from YouTube, and fix my leak in less than 10 minutes with the replacement piece only costing me $49. I would NOT use this company. They are scamming people out of money. It's a totally rip off and they are taking advantage of people with limited knowledge of plumbing. read more

It's the rare business that really, actually cares about you. Mostly, they just want to get the job done as efficiently as possible and get paid. However, you do have the right to expect that if something goes wrong, that the company will have enough conscience to make it right. We chose Chuck's Plumbing because they had a high number of five star reviews and I thought we could trust them. But a business should be judged not by how they perform when everything goes right, but what they do when they're tested and everything goes wrong. This was a messy job, but they didn't rise to the occasion. I am disappointed with this company, their business practices, and their work. Communication was poor, and they dodged giving me the price, despite my repeated requests for an estimate, until the job was done and I couldn't do anything but suck it up and pay. The price was then revealed to be extraordinarily high ($2000), about twice what my neighbor (a retired handyman) said I should expect. They also installed the wrong size water heater. It doesn't provide enough hot water for anything more than a five-minute shower or a half-full bathtub every other hour. It's not at all enough hot water for a family, causing arguments and tension in the house and fierce competition for the limited hot water. A relative has a medical condition that requires baths, so we've been forced to boil water on the stove to dump into the tub, which is ridiculous and highly frustrating. The company refuses to offer any solution or apology, and we can't afford to have the entire job redone. They claim that the new water heater is the same size and caliber as the old, but I have photographs of the old one and it was obviously bigger. It was a tight fit in the cupboard it was in, and this one has plenty of room on the top and the sides. Our old water heater also was capable of filling our bathtub to the top with pretty scalding water. I don't remember ever running out of hot water before, and now we run out almost every day. Again, I don't know what happened here and I don't know if it rises to the level of a lawsuit or a complaint to the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Protection, but I do know that I'm extremely dissatisfied with the outcome and that they're not willing to make it right or even apologize. I can't in good conscience recommend this company, and I really just wish I had used anyone else. read more

I called to ask for an estimate on a very straightforward job...one that should not have required someone to actually physically come to my home to give me an estimate. I was informed that they HAVE to send someone for any estimate that they do and that there is a $50 charge for that, regardless of whether you end up hiring them for the job or not. I'm sorry, but that is absolutely ridiculous. I am submitting this review in case it saves anyone else from wasting their time with these guys. I wish I hadn't. Edit: I don't have a problem with the fact that they wanted to see it in person before giving me a price. I have a problem with the fact that they wanted to charge me $50 for that. First off, Chuck's Plumbing has been top notch from the first time my wife called till the moment Mike, our servicing plumber, left our house. They were first class. Very courteous, punctual with a competitive price and outstanding work. Our house and plumbing are from 1963 and our main shutoff valve to the house was leaking, not up to modern code and desperately needed replacing. We also had issues with our kitchen sink drains and shutoff valves which had been "fixed" by the previous owner. The shutoff valves didn't "shutoff" and the left sink tub wouldn't drain if the right sink tub was filled with water. Mike came in confident he could fix both issues. He gave me his plan of attack and shot me a fair quote so I signed off and he got to work immediately. The exterior plumbing was done in high quality copper with heavy duty shutoff valves and up to modern code with a pressure bleed valve. It's a work of art! He followed that up by making quick work of our kitchen sink issues. He completely replaced both the hot and cold shutoff valves with high quality valves and completely replaced the under sink drain plumbing. Both sinks now drain properly and the work was outstanding! We had some other areas which we know we want worked on so after he finished up with the items we agreed, he shot me a quote for the remaining work. I will definitely be scheduling this work with Chuck's Plumbing and specifically Mike. I really enjoyed his awesome personality and confident, no BS attitude. Excellent service from the beginning to the end. Even though I had a non-emergency item, they were able to send a tech out the next morning. I received a call when he would arrive, and even where he was coming from. Miles arrived and was 100% prepared. He provided an out-the-door estimate that was not filled with caveats, or inflated prices, or any of that nonsense. I authorized the work on the spot, and he did a beautiful job! Chucks plumbing has predatory pricing. We had them out to install a kitchen sink faucet. The trip fee is $49.00. This was understood. when they got to the house they said it would cost over $300 to install the faucet (we already had the hardware). I sent them home paying the $49 fee. We installed it ourselves over lunch in less than 45 minutes. Their effective hourly charge would have been over $400 an hour. They are counting on you not wanting to waist the $49 trip fee. Chuck's was the best plumbing service I've used in my 25 years as a home owner with a house built in 1961... there's been quite a few. As with all almost all plumping problems, I need one to magically appear the instant my kitchen sink backed up, this was close. When I called I was greeted professionally but warmly, which is always a good sign. Unlike most other services I've used, they were able to give me a same-day appointment between 3 and 5pm. I received a call from Chuck's around 2pm saying that Cleveland Alexander would be on his way, and that I'd been sent an email with his picture and confirmation of a background check, so I'd know whom to expect. This was the first time I'd had a business provide this for a tradesmen and I wasn't sure it was necessary but I have to admit it made his arrival more comfortable, what a great idea! When Cleveland arrived he was great. He was friendly and professional and it quickly became clear that he really knew what he was doing. He was old-school. He explained ahead of time what the problem was and exactly what my costs would be. He took care of the problem in record time and then was very thorough in explaining what he had done to correct my issue and what my warranty would be for his work. Boy, am I glad I hired these guys! After getting the run around from 2 other plumbers, and after Home Depot completely failed, I tried Chuck's. And they totally came through. They showed up on time, on short notice, and honored a 9 month old quote. I already had a 3 stage water filter I wanted installed, and wanted to purchase a new 40 gallon tall electric water heater and have that installed at the same time. I paid a total of $1349, gladly. I had priced water heaters at Home Depot and they *seemed* cheaper, but I think Chuck's ended up coming pretty close, and you can't beat their service. When I asked a plumbing associate at HD about a water heater purchase with installation, he told me to call the 800 number on the side of the water heater! Ok, I tried that, even though I thought it was a bit impersonal. I was told over the phone (grumpily) that a supervisor would need to call me back within 2 days, which never happened. Chuck's on the other hand, were polite and professional from the first time I contacted them. Look for deals on Angie's List, where you can get a steal on Chuck's coming out to evaluate the whole house and give you quotes for fixing anything and everything plumbing. We had used Chuck's two years ago for an emergency repair, which they handled perfectly. When it came time to replace the kitchen sink and faucet, we asked for Chuck's to provide a quote. They were a little more expensive (less than $50) than another plumber, and just slightly less expensive than a third. I didn't hesitate to give Chuck's my business again, since Bobby was genuinely concerned about keeping me as a loyal customer. Bobby was able to come out the next day, and provided excellent quality plumbing service, as well as great customer service. He complimented us on our sink and faucet choice, was meticulously clean and neat, insisted that he double-check all of his work, and clearly explained a couple of options for the install (no extra charge, regardless of which option we decided). The tank seals on my toilet tank were leaking and after looking at the reviews online for different places, I ended up calling Chuck's Plumbing. I was able to easily schedule an appointment with Darryl. He called me the day before to remind me and confirm the appointment and also called me on the day of my appointment to let me know my technician was on the way which was very cool. Also status updates were sent via email. My technician, Michael Michniak, was great. He was my plumbing hero! Needed a garbage disposal installed. Probably should have tried doing myself as it was already wired but I was concerned that I don't have the right tools. Office lady would not give out any pricing even though I could describe exactly what I needed (should be red flag right there). Ended costing $209 for less than 1/2 hr work (I fortunately bought the disposal at HD beforehand otherwise I would have had to pay another $190!). I understand that that travel time is involved but their business model is based on premium pricing.
