Had a plumber come out tonight, he was here 3.5 hrs and I was charged $630 at $180/hr. But when charged $50 for using his electric drain cleaner I thought that was a bit of a scam. A plumber charging extra for using tools of the trade? So he said it was a total of $740, when I questioned him THEN he told me there was a extra charge for using a credit card. But by check it would be $680. Very sneaky and not so honest. Please ask up front for all hidden fees. By the way the shower drain is still clogged. read more

We also upgraded a laundry utility tub faucet as well which required some finesse to get installed. I called Rahn because of the star rating. I got the wife who called her husband on the job. He said he couldn't do it till next week, but he'd call me Sat morning between 9 and 11. He didn't. I called his wife at 2 pm and left message asking if he was going to take the job. No reply. I have the camper toilet but cant empty the holding tanks to the septic once they're full, and a half bath in the rear trailer whose 4 in sewer pipe travels separately to the septic tank. My wife's mother with Alzheimer's turned 89 this weekend is using a hospital bed pan chair we had in storage. My wife and I are disabled. I just turned 75 and have had several back and neck fusions, several shoulder repairs, the last injury with a total replacement, several hand surgeries, etc. I worked for Verizon as a repairman for 34 years. I can build you a house with my skills. I've owned huge Victorian homes and know my plumbing. But I trouble shot this sewer problem and swallowed my pride and called for help. I had to do it myself. I dug and followed the line from the house to the septic tank, through 3 inches of soil and another 8 inches of lime rock. It took me all of Sunday with some rest brakes. I found the damaged , clogged elbow in the run. I finished this afternoon, now I have to fill the trench, take my pain medication and muscle relaxers and call it a day. Not even a courtesy call to say he didn't want the job. As an aging American citizen and a U.S Navy Veteran I am offended. I've never taken disrespect from anyone and I sure as hell am not in the market to take disrespect from this business. read more

I contacted Rahn's in the morning and spoke to Paul's wife regarding replacing a water heater. She advised that Paul had an opening in the afternoon or the next day in the morning. She quoted me an estimate over the phone which was in line with what I had been told by other plumbing companies. I scheduled the service the same day for a time window of 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Paul contacted me via phone when he was fifteen minutes away. He arrived at 1:50pm. He was friendly, answered all of my questions and got to work.
