If you have ever read any of my reviews, you know I'm not easily impressed. With that said, I was very impressed. Locally sourced farm to table with flare. The service was friendly. Three people greeted us as we entered. They were busy. We were told that it would take 15 minutes for our meal even before we had ordered. Our food arrived in 10 minutes after ordering. I have no idea what in the world one of the last reviews said about waiting an hour to be served. This place is so petite you couldn't hide in there for an hour! I had the huevos rancheros. They were quite different and delicious. Blue corn tortillas. The eggs were perfect. Beautiful presentation. The local Joshua Tree coffee was served with a side of frothed milk (nice touch). Everything is made in-house. From the chorizo to the Anaheim chili sauce. I haven't tried them but the desserts also look wonderful. Can't wait to return. read more

If you have all day to wait then this is the place for you. We walk in as a party of ten and there were many tables available. We wait 20 minutes to get coffee, another 10 to get cream, and over an hour to get our food. The food was pretty good however, we sent back a dish multiple times because the eggs were over cooked and then raw. There is only one chef, which is understandable as to why it could take a while, however the lack of customer service skills was ridiculous. Our waitress never apologized, claimed she did "a pretty good job"and that it's "worth it to wait for this food."As a person in the restaurant industry, you NEVER make excuses for poor service and you comp the meal or bring dessert. read more

I love that they feature local coffee, Joshua. La Quinta is in dire need of good coffee/espresso and this place is pretty darn good. I also tried their Blueberry muffin (it's extra large) and the lemon scone. Both were excellent. They had beautiful cakes as well. I will definitely go back to try their farm to table brunch/lunch menu. read more

Our third visit and I now have to write a review. Our first 2 visits were above average. However, many things went wrong today. First the server brought us the wrong beer. Even though we mentioned it she said it was from the tap we asked for. I know my beers and either the tap was wrong or they tapped the wrong keg. My wife asked for salad without dressing but it came with dressing. The rest of us were nearly finished before her salad came back out. Our table had a total of 6 "poached eggs" on our meals. All 6 were basically hard boiled with no runny yolk. The special was to have micro green and they were so micro that they could not be found. There were a couple of other things but I have made my point. We really want this place to thrive as we are very healthy eaters. Please step up your game. Walked in to order some food to go and was flatly told "We don't do to go orders on Sunday because we're too busy" Are you kidding me? There was no wait to get a table, and that was the response? I was tempted to sit at one of the available tables, order my food, then ask for a to go container. Would that have made it ok for them? I decided not to bother with the process. I'll spend my money elsewhere. Must be nice to be so prosperous that you can dismiss someone who wants to spend money because he wants to take your food home to enjoy. Good luck with that. Bummed really wanted to try this place but as I was entering the restaurant with my wife and kids at 2:55PM (they close at 3:00PM) the staff told me they were closed for the day already. I even asked if I can buy something pre made and was rejected again. Weird, you would think a new business that was empty at the time would be eager to take care of customers regardless of the the hours. read more

The food was amazing. We had the huevos rancheros they tasted amazing. Love how they used pouched eggs with black beans and the green tortilla. We also had the monte cristo and it was amazing. That chile gave it a kick. Not spicy just the right taste. Mimosas were very strong but tasted amazing. Our server Kimberly set the expectation and was very attentive. Chula is not to be missed! Their menu features locally grown, fresh organic fare with a Mexican spin. There is a bakery on site as well, with sweet treats baked fresh. You can taste each separate ingredient in the food - that's how fresh it is! The industrial decor is trendy, and the vibe is welcoming and warm. Love, love, love this new restaurant here in LQ. Fresh, creative food. Not a typical Mexican menu. The Cobb salad is amazing, and the homemade chips with Katherine's salsa trio is a must. There is also a bakery! So nice to have a lovely lunch spot nearby. read more

What a fantastic dining experience! Everything on the menu looked so delicious we had a hard time deciding what to order. The black bean soup was amazing! The Farm salad was more than I had bargained for. All of the flavors are so inviting that you have to eat every single bite. The chips are hand made to order. What does that tell you? When we were all finished we looked at the desserts and decided to come back another time just to have them! I was part of the Bob L party at Chula on 2/11. And yes, we waited a long time for our food, and our 7 dishes came out over a 15 minute span, and some things were cold and some portions were skimpy. However, I would cut them some slack as they have been open just a few weeks and the main chef was out for the first time. I hope they shake out the kinks and will try them again. read more
