    Sunset meal- salmon
    Kris T.

Always an excellent experience! Juan is amazing. Attentive, engaging and just made it a great experience. The food is always excellent. I ordered a Sunset meal- salmon salad. I was expecting a smaller portion but omgoodness it was huge. We have been in the bar and the patio. This time we were in the dining room. Another lovely venue. Ample self parking or complimentary valet parking. Fun to take the stairs to the second level or there is an elevator available. It's such a great venue. We look forward to returning.

Beautiful atmosphere and setting. We were so excited when we arrived. Food was just so so. Steak and fish were mediocre quality and steak was actually chewy. Think this is probably a better happy hour spot for a sandwich than the fine dining - that would be a more fun night out.

Found this place on Yelp as I was staying at the Renaissance nearby. Sat inside at the bar for a bite and drink. BEST pepperoni flatbread I've ever had! Crispy with lots of pepperoni. Sooo good. Had a couple of cocktails - they are strong so you will get your money's worth. Service was very attentive. Next time will sit outside as the patio is lovely.

Our first time here, I researched this restaurant for our road trip and knew I wanted to come, absolutely no regrets! The food was absolutely delicious, I savored every bite! Our waiter, Matthew, was outstanding, thank you for the recommendations and making our dinner experience, enjoyable and memorable! The customer service from the host to the moment we left - Outstanding!!!! Looking forward to another road trip and coming back here for another delicious meal! Private parking lot with complementary valet parking.

Always get the steak!! Great service, food was good too! The outside is S T U N N I N G! Yet inside I feel like could use some work to get on par...A bit boring and old school and plain. Will be back, but I need to go back to the steak!

The La Quinta cliff house has some of the worst waitstaff I've experienced. But other than that the steak has a very nice rich and creamy taste. But overall the building itself feels very clean and well maintained.

    Pasta with meat.

First time here! The pasta with meat was very fresh, savory, cheesy, flavorful, and delicious. Also, the calamari was super tasty, crunchy, salty, crispy, and perfectly served with a sweet, refreshing strawberry lemonade. Good service, nice atmosphere, and I had an excellent experience today. I especially love sitting next to the waterfall with the mountain goat statue.

Where the 111 passes between two rocks, they built this restaurant on one rock. Ate upstairs, outdoors, under a heat lamp and close to the rock. Had the small-plate salmon and a very tender small-plate beef short rib. Both dishes had great presentation and were very tasty!

    Scallop Appetizer

We dropped in for appetizers and drinks only. The $24 scallops were literally bay scallops. 1 bay scallops smothered in cheese baked so hard it was inedible. The scallops were tiny. Prawns were large but tough and not deveined thoroughly. Service was so so. Had to ask for second drink.. waiter had too many people to take care of. Suffice it to say for the price it was a miss..we don't mind paying money but we do expect something for it and there are too many other places for same money with better appetizer foods.

Loved this location. Came with my family to try it and it was worth it. Their steak was very delicious and their alcohol drinks were very good. My wife and children loved it here. Employees were very polite. You get a good view of the freeway and the restaurant. Great design with the rocks and mountain next to it. Recommend you check it out.

Had been wanting to stop into this location for many years. We had a party of 12 get a separate area in the restaurant which we enjoyed. I had the best Pork Chop of my life. Everyone loved this location and food was outstanding. I also enjoyed the variety of their wine list - from excellent high end wines to some great value wines. I had an old vine Malbec which was amazing for less than $75. Looking forward to next time we come

Our first date, need to wear beautiful dress. Is that appropriate here?

100% appropriate! Very relaxed environment with outstanding service & vibes. Not a strict dress code. Make sure you talk to one of the managers her name is Katrina and a server named Taylor if they're working. Great women who care about your… Read more

Is the sunset dinner offered later currently (June)?

Our Sunset Dinners are offered year round from 3:30-5:00PM

What is the name of the executive Chef?

    Chef Jeremy!

    Early bird dinner?

We offer Sunset Dinners everyday from 3:30-5:00. This includes 2 courses for $27

I would, love to visit but want to confirm you can accommodate a quadriplegic in a powerwheelchair chair?

I think so, they have an elevator up to the restaurant from the valet area. I'd call to confirm though.

Will be visiting La Quinta this spring on a family vacation. Is the Cliff House pet friendly?

    Service animals only.

I noticed from a previous question/answer that the corkage fee was $15 in 2018. Is that still the cost?

think it is now 25 but best to check

    Is there happy hour?

    3:30-5 I believe

How do I make a reservation using Yelp?

I made a reservation with Open Table.

Is it ADA/wheelchair accessible? If so, ramp or elevator?

    Yes. Elevator available.

Is the patio area first come first serve or can I make a request for seating outside?

The BAR area patio is first come, first served. If you make a reservation for the restaurant, you can ask to be seated outside, but it is NOT on the BAR area patio, it is a separate restaurant patio.....hope this helps.

Can I make a reservation for a special romantic dinner for my boyfriend and I celebrating our 4th yr. anniversary?

Sure. You can do it over the phone or through Open Table online. They don't take reservations in the bar area or on the patio, but you'll be fine if you want the dining room.

    Is reservation needed?

No, but I would recommend one. The bar is not a bad place to dine, and there are plenty of seats.

Will there be a special Valentine's Day Menu? My husband and I have a reservation. It will be our first time and I'm so excited.

Probably as they usually do a price fix menu for xmas and thanksgiving. Why not give them a call and ask.

Is happy hour only in the bar? Or can you sit outside as well?

There is a Bar inside, and a Bar patio outside, pretty sure you can get the Bar menu, Sunset Menu and Happy Hour outside if you sit in the Bar patio. There is a separate patio that is not part of the bar.....

Do they offer corkage if so how much?

    I believe it was $25.

    What hours are happy hour?

3:30 -close all night long through September.

The menu might be considered small however plenty of excellent choices for everyone's palate. We started with martinis Aviation gin for me & Ketel 1 for my hubs complete with bleu cheeses olives served tall & verrry cold. Our appetizer choice, the deep fried artichokes served with a creamy tasty aioli nicely presented however a bit over salted for our tastes, hence the 4.5 vs 5 stars. We came in to Italica wanting pasta the Bolognese with wild boar/fennel sausage arrived practically overflowing from the bowl, easily could have served 2 or possibly an appetizer to share at the table. My choice the Spaghetti Alio Olio presented bucatini pasta with bread crumbs & pecorino cheese ~ OOOOH MY, sooooo DELICIOUS my bowl was inhaled. Mid meal we ordered the prosciutto ~ fig jam flatbread just perfection the jam adding sweetness in every crunchy bite. To full from our appetizer & pasta we skipped dessert this trip but we'll be back!!!!!! as the drive to Indio from Palm Desert is maybe 30 min (+\~) easy & plentiful FREE PARKING be sure to look for the all stainless patchwork door for entry, once inside relax & enjoy the vibe.

We were seated in Isabel's section and she more than made up for it. What a gem! She was so friendly and very nice. She made sure to check on us often and we had a lovely time at your restaurant because of her. We are giving this review 5 stars because of Isabel. Instead, she bit into a sharp chicken bone hidden in the salad--something that absolutely should never happen. This wasn't a small, soft fragment either; it was sharp enough to cause immediate, severe pain and pierced her gums. This is not just a minor oversight--it's a major failure in basic food safety and kitchen preparation. There is no excuse for serving food in this condition, especially something as simple as a salad. We trusted this restaurant to provide a safe meal, and that trust was completely broken. What makes this even worse is that the situation could have been far more dangerous. If swallowed, this could have led to choking or internal injury. No customer should ever have to worry about that when ordering a salad. I strongly urge the restaurant to take a hard look at their food prep standards and quality control, because this is unacceptable. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

The most notable change is that there used to be lovely tables with fire pits and cozy conversation seating and it's all been replaced with dining seating that's less conducive to dining with friends. Most important is the warm red wine and the shift in happy hour prices to "only if we have a bottle already opened" where you only find out if you won the happy hour lottery when you get the check. Red wine flight included a fantastic Cab & Cab Reserve, and a "very good" Pinot...and that's coming from a person who does not drink Pinot. I didn't care for the blend but then again I never care for a blend as it is.
