There are a lot of reasons to eat at La Quinta Cliffhouse but in my most New Yawk accent ever you need to know that their lobstah is from Maine. A lot of places in this desert serving lobster a lot of it from South Africa (and other place) and perhaps I'm biased but *taps heels* "there's no place like home!" The best lobster is hands down always gonna be the east coast. Sorry not sorry, rules is rules. In addition to great lobster they have Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms and if you grew up in or around Italian American culture, this dish is special. It gave warm fuzzies and memories of making these in childhood. They're light, crispy, salty and stuffed with delicious ricotta...a true gem of thia desert you won't want to miss. They were busy and service was still great. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful cliffside view. The cocktail menu was fun and unique! And our kind server accommodated the birthday in our party with this huge ice cream tiered cake. If you plan on having another birthday, here is where you're going to want to celebrate! We have been dining at this restaurant for over 16 years, and the food is consistently delicious and the servers are usually very friendly and accommodating. During our most recent visit, we enjoyed the seasonal Peach Blossom Cosmo cocktails, as well as the crispy calamari and Caesar salad. For our main courses, we ordered the braised short ribs and the pan-seared sea bass. Unfortunately, the sea bass did not taste fresh. We alerted our server, who promptly took it back to the kitchen, and we ordered a second braised short ribs instead, which was perfect. While this was a rare issue, we wanted to share our feedback. 2.5 stars. La Quinta Cliffhouse was recommended to me for dinner, but I won't pass on the same bad advice. The Prawn Pasta ($39) I ordered was bland to the point of being inedible. I erroneously assumed spaghetti flavored with garlic, white wine, butter, herbs, & preserved lemon would be delicious. Large, tough (& again, tasteless) prawns topped the bowl of noodles that seem to stick together from a lack of sauce. Our gracious waitress removed the dish from our bill after seeing it had barely been touched. Her efforts did not go unnoticed; we generously tipped her for taking the initiative to rectify an unsatisfactory situation. We sat on the covered patio facing the giant rock formation; a unique dining experience, but one that felt Disney-ish rather than elegant. La Quinta Cliffhouse gets a hard pass from me. read more

The location is interesting. Be careful on the stairs going up they were wet from the waterfall. We did not have a reservation but were seated promptly at a high top table near the bar. The server was fast and friendly. We ordered the stuffed dates and the burrata. The olive tapenade with the burrata was so tasty. We practically licked the bowl clean. We quickly ran out of the little toasts but ate the olives with the arugula from the medjool dates. For mains we order a half order of the short ribs and the prawn pasta. The prawns were pretty large. The pasta was a little too al dente for me and the sauce had a very strong wine taste that got old pretty quickly. The short rib was so tender and flavorful, but the Brussels were also just a tad too rare. Overall it was a nice meal but kinda pricey for two people for the dishes to not be perfect. read more

The views are gorgeous and the food is delicious, but the service was meh. We had a reservation for 7 pm on Saturday evening and we were seated right away. The first problem was that we were seating outside just as a brief windstorm came through and was blowing dust, leaves, our hair and dresses all over the place. Not the restaurant's fault, they can't control nature. We asked if we could be seated inside and they were very accommodating. We were seated near the entrance in a small enclave where unfortunately a rather loud family of intoxicated adults and uncontrolled little ones were seated. The little ones were running around and under the tables, playing tag while the drunk grandmother talked or rather yelled to be heard over the children. Our waiter greeted us with an unfriendly hello; as if we were just adding to the noise of his section. He took our order and approximately an HOUR later our food arrived. He never came to check on us or clear the salad plates...if the food wasn't so good, we would have left. read more

Always an excellent experience! Juan is amazing. Attentive, engaging and just made it a great experience. The food is always excellent. I ordered a Sunset meal- salmon salad. I was expecting a smaller portion but omgoodness it was huge. We have been in the bar and the patio. This time we were in the dining room. Another lovely venue. Came back to Cliffhouse and received excellent service from Susie. I made reservations for when they opened and I recommend this as this place does get busy, especially during the happy hour time. Happy Hour is 3:30-6 and there's a few dollar discount on selected food items and drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the Burrata platter and the dates. We also ordered a date burger and the following martinis: pear, pink lady, and espresso martini. This was my first time trying an espresso martini (ever) and I'm glad I waited until the end of dinner before ordering it. It's more a dessert or finishing drink. The Burrata platter was delicious and beautifully presented. The dates were good but too sweet for our tastes (yes, we are aware dates are naturally sweet, LOL). We only ate a few and saved the rest for later. The date burger and fries were delicious. The only downside was I asked for the burger to be cooked medium and it was well done. The drinks were good and beautifully presented. The ambiance and atmosphere, for this restaurant, is very upscale and unique. I will continue visiting each time I'm in La Quinta. Celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Burrata was delicious, the filet mignon was cooked perfectly & the short rib was superb! Our server Suzy was very pleasant & provided great service. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that we were seated towards the front of the restaurant near the door so it was a little on the warmer side which was very unfortunate & I ended up having to use our portable fan during dinner.. I noticed about 3 months ago they changed the pasta. I have been going there since and ordering the sauce alone and making my own pene or ANY tube pasta that SHOLUD be with a meat sauce. From what I hear from the staff...the NEW EXECUTIVE chef refuses to change anything! Soo, tonight i got the same sauce as usual and it was not even close to their normal. We rarely make time for date night and we finally used our gift card here at the Cliffhouse. Upon completing our dinner I looked down and saw a huge spider next to our table. When we mentioned it to the staff it was blown off as "well yeah that happens because our pest guys come at night so sometimes they can make their way inside". Manager (I think) comped my pea soup and didn't even apologize for a less than pleasant experience. Also, when they tried to collect the spider with a broom I was asked to leave the table because it was in fact "still alive". I was bummed to have used our gift card here. read more

I visited for the sunset menu and left disappointed. The setting and views are undeniably beautiful, but unfortunately the food didn't come close to matching the location. Nearly every dish lacked flavor. The Caesar salad was particularly disappointing, with anchovies that tasted low quality and completely overwhelmed the dish. The short rib was mediocre at best, and the salmon was surprisingly bland and forgettable. What made the experience even more confusing were the accompaniments and sides. Several combinations felt strange and didn't complement the proteins, leaving the dishes feeling unbalanced and poorly thought out. Service was another major issue. Throughout the meal, it was difficult to get attention from staff, and the overall level of hospitality felt lacking from start to finish. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation and one of the best settings in the Coachella Valley, I expected much more. Had been wanting to stop into this location for many years. We had a party of 12 get a separate area in the restaurant which we enjoyed. I had the best Pork Chop of my life. Everyone loved this location and food was outstanding. I also enjoyed the variety of their wine list - from excellent high end wines to some great value wines. This was my first time here I went with co workers and we had such a lovely time. We all dressed casual we were worried about the dress code but a lot of other customers were pretty relaxed as well. The service was phenomenal. I didn't take a picture of the Peruvian ceviche but it was so flavorful and amazing, I think it has to be the best ceviche I have ever had beats the Mexican one I'm used to eating. As for the food I had sugar spiced salmon that was so delicious. The black bean sauce they pour on top of the food was so good it paired so well with everything. The potatoes were so creamy and good, I really liked the wonton crust that is around the potatoes was so good as well. I loved everything I ate that night. It's such a beautiful place. Hit and miss. The steak and scallops were amazing. The bartender was friendly. The Greeter actually looked like she just got out of bed. We arrived at 8:45pm not realizing the kitchen closed at 9pm (website shows 11pm closing time.) We were "allowed" to order but were super rushed.
