For one, the beach is pristine: no trash or glass was seen whatsoever. The tables had awesome thatch-like covers, which made the experience very nice without returning to the ship looking like a lobster. They have some shops along the beach for good souvenirs. They also had a complimentary drink station for margaritas, beer, and sodas. You can also get a huge burger for an additional cost, although I didn't partake in food. I was more interested in the margaritas haha. They have adequate bathrooms that were constantly being cleaned. Real bathrooms by the way, not stinky latrines you see at some beaches. The water felt sooo great! They have lounge chairs, a ton of them, and they have inflated slides and such for the guests to use in the water. They also have boards and canoes you can use at no cost. This was easily one of the best shore excursions I've done in Cozumel. We will definitely be back!

Isla de Pasion is a secluded island off of Cozumel and is such a beautiful beach that is not to be…read moremissed. There are many ways to get there -- by ferry, by private boat/catamaran, or car. On Thursday, my husband and I rented a jeep and drove to the fishing pier at Laguna Ciega. Note: You will need a jeep to get to Laguna Ciega. I would not recommend walking. Once you leave downtown and start driving for a while, you will end up in front of a dirt road, where the road becomes bumpy and requires off-road driving. A regular car will not be able to handle the dips, which are pretty major. Depending on the weather there could also be muddy water. The dirt road is wide enough for one car, so be mindful of cars that could come from the opposite direction. Despite the off-road driving, we still arrived within 30 minutes. Cozumel is not a large island. We parked our rental car and got on a boat with a local who offered to take us across to la Isla de Pasion for 100 pesos per person each way. We agreed that we would pay him half of total when he gets us to la Isla de Pasion, and then the other half when he takes us back to Laguna Ciega. The boat ride was quick and took about 5-10 minutes. Isla de Pasion was incredible. The water was clear and the waves were super gentle. There is a beach club on site; however, my husband and I settled down in our own little section of the beach. We stayed for about 3 hours, swimming, and having a picnic with food and beers that we brought. As we were leaving around 1:30pm, we noticed there were a lot more people on Isla de Pasion. Definitely get to the island EARLY so you can enjoy it when it is less crowded.

My son and I did a 7 nights / 5 day dive package and had a fantastic time! The resort is fitting for those whose first priority is diving. The resort and grounds are a little older, but very quaint with stucco buildings, arches, tile and passages. Our room was on the 4th floor at the end with a beautiful ocean view, a balcony and chairs. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with drying rods outside and the tile flooring is easy to keep clean from sand and moisture. A central dining area serves a buffet breakfast each morning with eggs, pancakes, French toast, fruit and varying Mexican specialties before the morning dives. Lunches are also included, featuring a number of Mexican and American bar/grill food, and can be ordered off the menu - or a lunch special can be chosen at breakfast time. Food was simply prepared but very tasty and satisfying, with decent portions for hungry divers. A dessert is also included. Dinners can be ordered through the hotel for room pickup in the evening, but we preferred to walk to town each night. There are dozens of great taquerias and seafood restaurants within a 20min walk, and the farther inland you walk, the less touristy and more reasonably priced the food becomes. Alternatively, there are a few huge supermarkets within 10min where one can whip up a meal of fresh (less than $0.10) bolillo rolls, cold cuts and cheeses. We rented BCDs and regs the entire time from the spartan but practical onsite dive shop, with Al 80 tanks and weights included in our dive package. Good Scubapro equipment, but basic without integrated weights. I upgraded to a 100 tank to keep up with my son at additional cost. 2 morning dives are included per day, with added dives (we did a fantastic night dive) also available at additional cost. The boats arrive each morning, and divers are expected to be ready to board. Larger groups are assigned to larger boats. The two of us were assigned to a smaller boat with between 2 and 6 other people each day, with one and the same divemaster throughout. Tony was very thorough and helpful, providing a detailed rundown and instructions for each site prior to diving; it was like a private tour each day. Boat crew does a nice job setting up your gear and assisting you on board from the water. We were all about the same level and experience and the dives were absolutely spectacular! I've read some negative comments about the equipment and supervision - IMO you need to have a reasonable amount of dive experience here and always be self-sufficient. We were doing 50-60ft fast drift dives on day one and days 2&3 70-90ft drives at spots such as Columbia Pinnacles. Our equipment worked flawlessly, but we carry spare o-rings, asked for spare weights in advance, have and know our own dive computers, etc., none of that will be provided on the boats if needed. Be prepared also for bad weather and reef closure days - we had one and were able to shift our dive to the following day, but that will not always be the case. The staff was on standby until the reef opened with cheers and we were able to get our 5th day in before we left. Dive lockers and dunk tanks are very convenient and nearer the water, though a few drops of chlorine/cleaner in the tanks would have helped keep our dive suits/gear smelling fresher; things don't have real time to dry. Staff and service throughout was very professional and thorough. Waiters and dive shop personnel a bit intense at first, but folks warm up over time and bend over backwards to assist you and ensure your safety and comfort. Saw quite a few rude guests and witnessed what the staff has to put up with, until they see you aren't an ass. The front office called a rental car for us on our down day. We received it right in front of the resort and had a great day driving around the island; there is much to see and do. Scuba Club Cozumel exceeded our expectations for a dive focused, basic but clean and comfortable resort with excellent service and a great location. We will definitely be returning!

The AC and shower were great, which are big deals to me. Also, being able to dive off the back of the resort was very nice. And the hammocks were my favorite place to lounge and hang out with the other divers in the afternoon. My 1 star review has ONLY to do with the dive shop. We rented equipment. Between my husband and I, we went through 5 regulators in 3 days of diving. Apparently doing basic maintenance on the equipment is not a top priority. One regulator popped a hose and luckily we were close enough to turn around to get me another. Another the gauges had air pouring out of them. On two of them, the depth gauge didn't work. The biggest issue for me was the air gauge was off. Like 400 psi off! I RAN OUT OF AIR DURING MY SAFETY STOP!! I brought it up to the dive shop when I went to get another one and he was like "oh, ok." No, OMG I am so sorry that happened. No, we will take care of this right away. Nothing but "oh, ok". They also had serious issues with their air tank O-rings. I would say we had to replace about half of the o-rings in the tanks before we could dive with them. Not sure how this is such an issue but I've done 20+ other dives at different places and have only had this problem once before. So, as a resort, I loved this place and am actually pretty sad I won't be going back.

You can purchase the $15 day pass to access the beach. There was another package that included food, but it seemed unnecessary since we didn't plan on staying too long. My goal was getting a spot where the kids can play with sand. The weather had been iffy too. It was raining on the taxi ride there, but thankfully it let up by the time we walked to the beach area. Once we arrived, we did have to pay $6 for an umbrella to use with our beach chairs. The umbrella kept closing so we had to get somebody to keep opening it back up. Finally, they told us they had to close the beach umbrellas for 30 minutes due to the wind that was coming. That was my sign to leave since it had already poured on our way there. The bathrooms are located to the left of the open buffet area. They have a feet washing area in front of the bathroom. There are two entrances. The left is for the toilets and the right is for the showers. Inside the shower area they have the baby change table. The beach area itself was clean and well maintained. Once you get there, keep going all the way inside. There were will be stores and excursions you can purchase. The ticket area to show you paid and to get your wristband will be on the left. We purchased a sand bucket that came with a toy from a store there for $10. They offer fun inflatables in the water for the older kids and banana boat rides. We apparently had a server who was helping our area. The gentleman who served us was friendly and attentive. My little one was thrilled to have chicken wings. We asked for the sauce on the side and the wings were crispy. We also tried the fajitas and they were pretty good. The salsa had a nice kick. I would definitely skip on the bean and cheese nachos! Overall, it was a great, affordable way to enjoy some time at the beach without committing to a full day excursion. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a low-key, budget-friendly beach day with the kids.

We came in on a…read moreDisney cruise and I checked before booking and only 1 other cruise ship was in port on the day we visited and that ship was a more adult oriented cruise line. Because of that I was fairly confident Playa Mia would not be overly full and I turned out to be correct. After doing some research before going there are other offerings that are better for pure adult visitors and Playa Mia strikes a good middle ground for everyone. We picked this beach park because it was the only one that didn't nickel-and-dime you on every little add-on: for example the obstacle course/water park is included with the all-inclusive package we bought. As I mentioned, we did get the all-inclusive package including travel. Some of the other guests were not on all-inclusive visit and most opted for their own travel. Having already been once, next time I may handle travel myself as I am an experienced traveler and the taxi's were very friendly, however with a young one in tow I must say the friendliness and helpfulness of the people who met us and arranged our travel in both directions was amazing and I absolutely do not regret paying a little extra for the included travel. Ultimately they did just put us in a taxi that they paid for but they met us super close to the boat exit and walked us all the way to the taxi stand and dealt with telling him where to go, etc. That was nice while we dealt with our hyped up kids in a new environment. I can't speak to the non all-inclusive experience but if you don't plan to drink a lot (including water/soft drinks for the kids) I think it can be a bargain. However, with the full package we bought, the only thing I ended up paying for was a deposit on the towels that we ultimately got back. I did tip our server (Alberto was awesome) decently well because of how much work he did during the almost full day we were there - so tipping is an additional expense that happens in any kind of place like this. One note, I did go for the top level all-inclusive package and with that the adults got a Tequila tasting and the kids got a chocolate tasting. Obviously the intent of these is to sell some goods but don't skip out on these if you get them - both tastings were delicious and even though we never buy anything at these things, in retrospect we still wish we had picked up some coffee Tequila. Because the day we visited wasn't super crowded, we had such a great time. The facilities are on the older side and the landscaping isn't perfectly manicured but it's on a beautiful beach and there was at least a little something for everyone: from 5 years old to 40. If it were considerably busier, that might pose an issue but they have a lot of room for people to spread out so except for the buffet being busy, I think it would take a lot of people for it to ruin your day.

The beach sported roadside parking and shops across the street- the vendors actually came out to fetch us to shop! Walking down to the beach I was sad to see all the trash that had washed up. Knowing this is a turtle beach I worried how much debris was scattered everywhere! The waters are stunning- all the shades of blues, the crystal clarity of the waters! Even with the clouds and rain, it couldn't diminish the beauty. Peak season is Feb and March and I imagine the locals clean up the beaches a bit more for the tourists! We were a month early. Not a bad stop!

My mother, brother and myself were at The Islands Beach Club in Cozumel most of the day one day in…read moreMay. We had booked a VIP experience shore excursion via the Carnival Magic. It allowed us to be in the VIP beach area, which was separate from the other areas. We had our own waitress, all drinks were included as well as lunch. The beach area was fantastic. It was wonderful to be near the water as the day we were there was a sweltering 110+ degrees Fahrenheit day in May. We all were constantly downing cold drinks whether it was soda, pina coladas or other delightful beverages. Our waitress, Mavel, was always there to help us get our drink on. The food was delicious. My brother got some chicken fajitas, my mother a burger, i got some pork... we thoroughly enjoyed the meals. While there my mother and I both paid extra to get some massages on the beach. Our masseuses Rosario and Norma really helped us relax. It was perfection to get an amazing massage while listening to the ocean. There are a lot of activities at the resort if you want to do it... from toquilla tasting to water sports, etc. This place is wonderful! So glad my family went.
