Pain free examination. Wait was minimal, but would say opt to have documentation mailed so you can complete in comfort of own home and not get frustrated trying to remember it all. There is about 8-10 health history/Hippa pages to get through. Hence why they mention coming 30mins prior to appt. Parking was easy to find and navigate. Also note it's free for visitors. There is tunnel between parking garage and main building. Try to park on 4th level for shorter mazes walk to it. Elevators pretty much right there to take you down one level to 3 where their suite 365 is at.

I saw Dr. Schwartz for the first time a few months ago, the exam was not through and I never received a call to review my test results. I had to send multiple messages and call several times before getting her on the phone. How can I trust my life with these unprofessional people. On the last day, after the final MRI was performed, the nurse attending my spouse began pulling/yanking out the IV. My spouse yelled and said, "Your hurting me." Also, Heaven help you if you get this other one, Nurse C. She is undisciplined, entitled, UNPROFESSIONAL. When is it acceptable for any medical staff person to yell at a family member, "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?" When is it acceptable for the nursing staff to block that family member from leaving? The incident is more involved but the staff did not act in the interests of my spouse or me. After sending a complaint letter to five heads of the hospital, the patient advocate responded. She stated after an investigation had occurred regarding the letter I sent and nothing was substantiated. This is not surprising as the patient advocate is really a "staff advocate." And of course the nurses will deny any wrong doing. Winthrop/ NYU Langone Mineola is a bad hospital. I will never allow my spouse or myself to be admitted again.

I mean, I know most people grow football-sized tumors in their spleens...right? *ahem* Well, regardless, I needed a fabulous doctor to kind of nip that one in the bud before it became soccer ball-sized. Dr. Allendorf is both a professor at Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons and an attending surgeon at NY-Presbyterian's Columbia University Medical Center. He specializes in liver, pancreas, and endocrine surgery. I'm honestly not sure where "spleen" falls in those category, if at all, but Dr. Allendorf kindly took me in and fixed me up all shiny and new. He is an extremely kind doctor and very straight-forward about what I was dealing with. He is soft-spoken and I felt extremely comforted by him. While hospitalized, he would check on me on occasion, and he was very thorough with his post-surgery follow-ups on me. As a current employee of NY-Presbyterian, I do see him on the rare occasion I am doing work in the ORs or PACU areas at CUMC. I even see him eating lunch sometimes outside of the Sage cafeteria. Perhaps, one day, I will actually have the nerve to walk up to him and say thank you. I will refrain from lifting up my shirt to show him my scar and exclaiming, "Remember...THIS?!" I try to have SOME class while at work. ;-) But in all seriousness, he is a fabulous doctor. I highly recommend him. As a possible future patient, you will be in skilled and competent hands. (I mean that quite literally as well as figuratively.)
