Happy Holidays @ Chun Yang Tea
    Nelle C.

Great experience @ Chun Yang Tea! i had this spot bookmarked for a while, so since i've been home & i was randomly in the area, i decided to give it a shot. Since it was my 1st time, i opted for the popular Ostmanthus Honey Oolong Tea for my husband (cold) and the Pudding Oolong Tea with Fresh Milk (hot) - both were so, so tasty and we actually ended up swapping on the ride home. Although i'm actually a huge fan of milk tea, i've never enjoyed it with boba - something about the tapioca texture tends to ruin the drinking experience for me. Nevertheless, i actually really enjoyed the oolong tea w/ the pudding as the pudding pieces were not intrusive and complimented the tea flavour really well. Overall - will def be back. It's a really cute, clean little shop, everyone was wearing masks and gloves, and the guy who took my order was really, really nice.

My Go-To's: 1. Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea. Large, Less ice, 30% sugar. 2. Papaya Milk. Medium, fixed. Tried their #1 recommended drink, the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea. My go to ever since. The drink is refreshing with floral notes with soft oolong tea flavor. I wouldn't mind some more tea flavor though. Another favorite is the papaya milk. I get it when I crave a smoothie-like beverage. The consistency is smooth, fresh and lightly sweetened. Definitely going back to try out other flavors & combinations.

Service was fast and the cashier was helpful. She recommended a few drinks but I ended up getting the oolong tea latte with pudding. My friends got the passion fruit green tea and another oolong tea latte. All their drinks were pretty good but it was a bit pricey for boba. Total for three drinks ended up being around $22. There is no restroom or seating at this place. Parking may be difficult as there is only street parking.

I visited seeing their osmanthus oolong ice cream tea advertised outside and wanted to try it. Sounded like something fun and interesting. It was good and but I'm not sure if it was worth the price, as the average price of bubble milk tea (size L) is around $6/$7 in the area. It was $8 and did not contain bubbles/tapioca. It also had a single scoop of ice cream. It was worth trying, but I don't think it'll be the new hype like brown sugar milk tea did. Tl;dr-visited for the osmanthus oolong ice cream tea, okay but a little pricey. Worth the experience.

Chun Yang is my go to for quality bubble tea. It is one street away from the 8 Avenue train station. The staffs are very nice and the drinks are prep very quickly (note: this is based on every visit there wasn't a long line). My usual is either the red bean with fresh milk (Horizon Whole Milk) and the Grapefruit green tea. The red bean with fresh milk which is a very typical red bean drink you can usually get with a more quality taste to it (I'm thinking maybe it's the Horizon milk they use), it also set so no changes can be made with sugar, ice or size. I also like the grapefruit green tea but it does get a bitter from the grapefruit skin and the tea flavor. The only down side for me is the store is very small so it's a quick grab and go (so no hang out here!) and the drinks can get pricey it's usually around $7-$8 but most bubble tea prices are getting there.

Gu yi dong gua cha is my fav drink from here. 10/10. Raspberry oolong tea is sour and sweet, cooling drink. Close to train, $10 min for card but they have a tablet u can tap to pay.

Mango Cheese Drink, Cold Hojicha Latte

Mango Cheese Drink: summer limited time drink so make sure you get this! It reminds me of Mango Mango's version, but this one is even more packed with toppings (the jelly is different too). Almost a meal by itself, or shared between two people. Love the salted cheese foam, really makes the drink as well! These mango drinks are so pricey though, but worth the splurge once in a while heh Hojicha Latte: for hojicha, I do think Lazy Sundaes in Manhattan does it a little better in terms of taste, so I wasn't too big of a fan for this one, ordered at 50% sugar. The hojicha is strong, but the particulat drink I had didn't have a good latte balance

So glad they open in BK So much closer for me And it's a corner away from the subway. Really convenient location. Taste just as good as before My fav summer drink is honey ormanthus oolong tea. Really refreshing !

Keepin it real out here on 8th Ave BK Had a very fun experience visiting around the grand opening. Prime location, half a block away from the main subway station. Service is great, the place itself is well lit and very photogenic. Overwhelming amount of options when comes to drinks, but I definitely don't mind it. Will definitely visit when I'm in the area. #dassit

Delicious oolong tea latte w pudding! It was not too sweet and very enjoyable! You can taste the oolong tea flavor. There were so many options and I will be back to try other types. Tried the one in flushing when it first opened & glad it opened one at sunset park!

I was surprised to see another bubble tea location open up in my neighborhood so I definitely knew that I had to try it out! The place itself is clean and cozy with no indoor seating. They have a variety of different fruit tea options as well as regular milk tea options. The first drink that I tired from here was Cold Red Bean with Fresh Milk which was just alright in my books. It was definitely creamy but nothing special in my opinion. The other times that I came here I got the Cold Honey Lemon Oolong Tea and Passion Fruit Green Tea both with tapioca and they were both super refreshing. The drink itself was very fresh and definitely perfect for a hot day. The tapioca was perfect - mildly sweet and perfectly chewy (definitely a place with good tapioca in my books). The service itself was quick and they recommend the sugar levels for different sizes of drinks as well as for the drink type which I thought was nice. The only downside of this place is that it is pretty expensive - especially if you add toppings my medium drink came out to around $7 which is definitely on the steep side for bubble tea but once in a while for a treat isn't bad!

Came here to see what the hype is all about. Boba tea shops come and go so quickly in this area; I can't even keep count. Ordered their Black Tea Latte with herbal Jelly, and waited for a solid ten minutes. It's a new tea shop, customers orders were slightly disorganized, clerks were just yelling out order numbers for completed drinks. I give a four stars mainly because my drink tasted good, and I liked it. Price is just about average as with any Boba tea places in the neighborhood.

Recommended drinks! - 2 down, 6 more to go. Jk

I'm so happy Chun Yang finally appeared in Brooklyn, after wanting to try their chain for so long. The location is really convenient, close to the 8 Ave train station. The inside was small, but modern and beautiful. The manager, I believe, took my order and I loved how he recommended sugar and ice levels for each of my drinks. I ordered the Passion Fruit Green Tea ($6.25) with Less Ice and 70% Sugar and the Hojicha Latte with Pearls ($7.25) with Less Ice and 50% Sugar. The price was steep, but the cups were tall for its large size. The layers were everything, making the drinks look super sleek. My boyfriend noted his Passion Fruit Green Tea had extra sour seeds compared to other places. For my Hojicha, the fresh tea from the milk tea is prominent here, and I enjoyed that roasted taste. But both our drinks felt watered down despite having less ice. I actually wish they recommended a 70% sugar level for my drink as it was really bland, but I am thankful they are looking out for my health. The bubbles were the mini bubbles kind, and they were pretty decent. The authentic fresh tea taste is a nice supplement and adds an element of uniqueness to the range of other bubble tea chains nearby. I would go back to try their other drinks, although shamelessly up the sugar level next time.

They open at 5 pm for dinner and I came to wait at 4:50 pm. I was able to walk-in right away and get seated. SM in the chicken dish stands for soy milk and it was definitely something I was able to taste. The portion size was pretty decent but I did had two issues with the dish. The dish was more of a Sichuan/Mala type of seasoning rather than something you expect to see from Taiwanese fried chicken. I did wish they use that kind of seasoning instead. With such a big portion of chicken, I also wish they had more of a variety of dark and white meat, as I had mostly white. I also ordered their minced pork over rice and their beef noodle soups - two classic Taiwanese dishes. I actually ended up enjoying Wenwen's take on the two dishes more than the chicken! They were also known for their fried Tangyuan desserts and that was something I enjoyed as well!

Nothing stood out to us and we tried over ten menu items. Most dishes are spicy, so clarify how much spice you can handle, because I burned my mouth on practically every dish we got. Taiwanese Pork Jowl was the best dish out of everything we ordered--this I would get again. Recommend. Handmade Chili Oil Wontons were just okay. Sacha Hot Honey Popcorn Chicken was too spicy and the breading was hard as a rock. Too much breading, too little chicken. Pickled Cucumber Salad was a let down. Skip. Peashoots w/ Tofu Skin was dissapointing and watered down. No taste. FenZheng Pork--Spare Ribs, Kabocha Squash, Tianmianjiang was the worst dish we've ever had at a restaurant. Tasted like bland baby food. So horrible. Steamed squash and congealed, bland broilled ribs with pieces of cartillege--inedible. How can a dish be so repulsive? Drinks were a disappointing--The Shyboy tasted like rocket fuel--wooow, what a rough drink. Soyprise Punch tasted too sour and too sweet and too weak simultaneously. Skip those two drinks.

On more than one visit, the beef contained large amounts of sinew and cartilage that were not properly rendered. This isn't just a texture preference -- it's connective tissue that would normally break down if the meat were braised long enough. I've attached a photo showing what was served. The first time this happened, I mentioned it to the staff, and they agreed the meat quality was poor and told me management had instructed them to serve it anyway. The next couple of visits were much better, so I assumed the issue had been addressed. However, on my most recent visit, the same problem returned. When I raised it again, the woman at the front told me that this was "edible for all of us in the back" and suggested it was a personal issue rather than a preparation or quality problem. I'm not expecting premium cuts, but when a dish relies on long-braised beef, excessive cartilage and sinew shouldn't be the norm -- especially when staff themselves have acknowledged the issue in the past. Consistency and how feedback is handled really matter, and unfortunately this experience left me hesitant to order the dish again.
