I have been a regular customer at this store and usually order the same drink with avocado. In the past, they never asked whether I wanted mango or strawberry as the topping -- it was always mango by default. However, during my most recent visit, they gave me strawberry instead. When I asked about it, they told me that strawberry is the default. This was confusing because it had always been mango before. The issue is that I do not eat strawberries. I politely asked if they could remake the drink, but they refused and said it was the customer's responsibility to specify. I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and customer service. If the topping depends on whichever one the staff decides to use that day, it would be better to clearly confirm with customers when ordering. This is actually the first negative review I have ever written. I even downloaded this app specifically because of this experience. I got the grapefruit tea and I wished the tea flavor came out a little stronger. I got less sugar hoping to get more of the tea flavor, but unfortunately it tasted a little watered down. I am writing this review solely about customer service. I have ordered from JOOY before, and tonight was the first time there was an issue. I had a major craving for a Mango Tornado, which is the only drink I get at JOOY. I know, I just really like boba with slushies. To meet the order minimum, I just get the combo meal, since I enjoy the curly fries and burger. After placing my order at 7:27, I get a call from JOOY at 7:33 informing me they are out of yakult for the Mango Tornado. I am disappointed, so I ask if I can cancel my order, because any alternative I want has yakult in it. The person tells me that I cannot cancel my order because they already made the food. This is incredibly poor customer service. I understand that most people would be fine switching drinks, but on the off chance that's not the case, calling before making anything would be the better option. I did not appreciate feeling pressured into getting something I did not want. I will not be ordering from this location again, but if you are going to the store in-person, the drinks are good. read more

I really like the different options of drinks they have. It is super unique and they make different drinks for every season. My favorite drinks are usually in the fall with the persimmon drink and the osmanthus drinks. Their regular menu is also super delicious. I really like the mango pomelo, lychee dragonfruit and the wonder grape. Compared to the other location, the service in this one was a little more rough. It took a while to get the order and it was a little difficult to order. It seemed like there were also a lot of things that were sold out. The rose jasmine milk tea was delicious. You are able to add on topping. Sugar and ice is adjustable as well. I don't know if I'd recommend the food here simply because the large number of options make me question how good the food would be and how long the food was stored frozen. I love this location in particular also because it's further out from the congested areas of 8th Ave. The AC here was also much appreciated on a scorching hot day. I had the Coco Mango with Oat Milk ($6.75). Yes, they offer lactose-free milk options here! The purple color was apparently dragonfruit, which was intriguing to me given it didn't mention that in the name. It didn't taste like it, although dragonfruit is pretty mild in taste to begin with. What struck me was how refreshingly sweet and tart this drink was! The mangoes, ice, and coconut jelly were so fun to eat! The crystal bubbles, which came with the drink, was that perfect cherry on top. Everyone else's fruit drinks were also super fresh tasting! I'd totally come back to try more of their drinks! It was flavorful, juicy, and crunchy. The takoyaki was ok, it lacked the essence of a real takoyaki as it was soft, not much volume, and very little octopus. The drinks were good. The dragonfruit tea and the tiger milk tea were both pretty good. Not too sweet. Everything came out pretty fast and the combo is a good price. I hate to be harsh because it's a cute and seemingly new place, but it really just isn't that great. I got the crème brûlée milk tea and it just lacks flavor altogether. One of my favorite bubble tea places on 8th Avenue. I love trying their special drinks because they have so many different combinations. My favorite special drink is the Lychee Dragonfruit and Lychee Long Island. Jooy is also one of the only places on 8th Avenue to incorporate avocado into their drinks. No one else was in line before me, but the drinks took about 15 minutes and they ended up getting a drink wrong so the wait was over 25 min )-: Usually when boba shops get a drink wrong, they prioritize that drink to get it out right away, but this place made a few drinks before remaking our order. I ordered a regular milk tea and they poured the wrong drink in the cup with the boba, and then proceeded to pour out the drink they messed up and to wash the toppings. First that's unsanitary and second no place does that, and they had the audacity to say they didn't wash the toppings and then proceeded to say something in Chinese thinking I don't understand.
